You may also want to look at the new Michelin LTX AT2 Light Truck Tire. You can check out a review here: Michelin LTX review It is a direct competitor for the both the Goodyear Wrangler SA and the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo. Some thoughts from the review: "The Michelin LTX A/T2 tire is targeted at a market where the buyers are tire savvy. They own a light truck or SUV and are willing to pay a premium for the ability to have both great on and off-road performance. Typically, these buyers are also seeking a tire that is durable and has the ability to carry heavy loads. Last, but not least, light truck tire buyers are looking for an aesthetically-pleasing tire, something that says "I like to go off-roading": a tire that looks rough and tough but still rides quietly on the highway."

Yup, really shows the battle scars nice

No issues with my 02 except one O2 sensor, that is with almost 130,000 km on the beast. Oh and piece of junk BOSE 6 CD changer. One thing is to check the lower rear of the front fenders, you can see into this area with the front doors open. Just make sure the drain holes are clear. When I bought mine, one of them was not and it would retain quite a bit of water in there, leading I would think to an early rust issue. Mine was plugged with sand and leaves, easy to keep clean while washing.

I have Toyota steel rims for my winter tires, they stick out a bit more than the stock wheels and I do get a bit more rubbing, notably on hard right going backwards over bumps. I have not had any issues with bearings or hubs so far.

Like you, I did not want the plastic splash shield back when mine broke, so I got the BP skid plates, front and middle:

Thanks, thought there was a sound reason for the comment.

I Don't Have A Hitch, I Want One, What Do I Need?
Trainman replied to lyzic's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I used a Reese wiring harnes, just plugs in. Was $35.00 CDN. Took about 2 hours to install myself. This should work for your 2000 Pathy: Reese Wiring Harness -
Sounds like he changed his stock 16" wheels for 15" Rockcrawlers, hence the issue. Thanks for the headsup.

In rear, as shown below:

Looks good! And I like the way you have the angled part to the back, it fits better with the slope of the rear end

I have my fuel filter replaced every third oil change (ie 15,000 km) after a case of bad gas a few years back. It is also quite dusty around here. I have always only been billed for 1 filter, so I assume the shops I have used (including a dealer) should know. 1 filter. And as suggested, look at your air filter. Mine gets the boot every 25-30,000 km, again due to the dust around this place.

Whats Up With The Small Cup Holders ? Any Remedies
Trainman replied to trashman's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
When things get crowded, I use the pull out rear cup holders, they are an easy reach for the driver as long as it is pulled out first. Great when I have finished the coffee and now want to drink the water. -

Glad to help, I know there are a few members in the GVRD. BTW, in our town auto theft has gone up 125% in the last couple of years, so The Club gets used on a regular basis along with the alarm. -

Whats Up With The Small Cup Holders ? Any Remedies
Trainman replied to trashman's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
My rear holder of the pair has a removable part that makes it as big as I have ever wanted, but good for regular size mugs as well. No issues here. Now, if you want to talk about poor cup design, you should have seen the set up in our Mystique -
Another public service announcement from your friendly neighborhood Trainman for those of you in the area. RCMP warn of Nissan thieves in Lower Mainland Police say 21 Nissans have been stolen since early June Last Updated: Thursday, July 5, 2007 | 10:58 AM PT CBC News RCMP in Surrey, B.C., are warning Nissan owners in the Lower Mainland that thieves could be targeting their vehicles. Twenty-one Nissans have been stolen throughout the region since early June and then left in the residential area of Newton in south Surrey, Cpl. Roger Morrow told CBC News on Wednesday. Seven of the vehicles had been stolen from other places in the Lower Mainland including Richmond, Burnaby and Vancouver, Morrow said. Investigators don't know what the cars were being used for, but the vehicles were turning up with no visible damage, he said. "The cars are being stolen but they are being dumped and left for recovery," Morrow said. "We're finding them a relatively short period of time later. So at least for the time being they are not being used for recycling or being used by a chop shop," he said. Morrow said the thieves were specifically targeting Nissan cars from the 1980s to the 1990s — including such models as Pathfinder, Sentra, Altima and Maxima — as well as pickup trucks and SUVs. He said police believe most vehicles were being taken between 8:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. Police are advising the public to use anti-theft devices to deter thieves.

My thoughts too. I have put 60,000 km + on my 02 since buying used with 60,000 km on the odo and it has yet to burn any oil. I change every 5,000 km along with the filter.

Hmm, I may have to try again. I did a fairly long test last year (a couple of months, several thousand kms) and saw no difference. Maybe our cheap Canadian gas is just that much better than US (sort of like our beer )

I do not know, but is your truck manual or AT? Reason I ask is that in Canada, the '02s are rated for towing as such: Manual: 3,500 lbs AT: 5,000 lbs So there may be a different rad for each. For example the AT rad has the trannie cooler built in, so it is probably different than the manual. If you have a manual, try an AT rad, may give you more cooling. Just guessing here.

VQ, no question. The problems mentioned are relatively rare, and if you are worried about them are easy to fix. Better power, better MPG, all wrapped up in a newer machine. Do not forget, the VQ has been selected as one of the top motors for 13 years! link

Are these driving lights or fog lights? If driving, they should be as high as possible/legal. Here in BC, that is no higher than the center line of the factory headlights. If fog, they should be as low as possible, again within the legal restraints. Here in BC that used to be 12", not sure what it is now. So consider the effort you are going to take to mount your lights and if the stealth look is worth the trade-off in decreased light performance. My '69 Datsun 510 had both (Cibe) mounted at the legal limits and it was awesome. Of course, it also had quad Cibe/Bosch halogens replacing the factory sealed beams as well. No problems seeing with that that beast. And it passed all the annual vehicle inspections it went thorough too!

I had no issue putting a Reese hitch and wiring harness in my 02. It all went together as advertised. More details can be found by searching as noted by Slick.
