  1. Pftharrt, Phfarrt! BUMP! Is there a need for 2 mufflers, or would the dual in dual out 50 series work the same for flow? This is open to anyone, I know that there are a lot more experts out there than this!!
  2. Very Cool info....hopefully more folks will jump in here! I am planning on using 2 Hushpowers and an "X" pipe to form a free flow high scavange exhaust...the only concerns I have are the intruck moan, and not enough back pressure to push the rig down the road. From what I can tell, the 3.5 loves to breath...on my 3.3 I had the flowmaster 50 SUV, it was awesome! Great sound no drone, totally aftermarket. Just gave a great V6 growl....I am just not sure that there is room for two independant mufflers under there! Is there a need for 2 mufflers, or would the dual in dual out 50 series work the same for flow? again this is open to anyone, I know that there are a lot more experts out there than this!!
  3. As I near the eBay point with the sale of my BMW, I am gathering even more goodies for the Pathy/QX4 to come. I am interested in getting the rest of my exhaust components. I have read many many sites on the web about the Flowmaster Hushpower mufflers (almost glasspacks). It seems that no one with a V6 has posted to say what they sounded like. I am wanting to use 2 of these mufflers along with the "X" pipe that i have already collected to make a true dual set up. Sooooo, anyone here heard a set of hushpowers on a V6 anywhere?? Trail; Hot rod show, Rat rod show, anywhere? Thanks to all for every bit of input!
  4. Hey XPLORX4 can you give detail about the diffeences in the arms you have pictured? Please!
  5. So here is a link to the Japanese sight we all love, that shows LCA's with adj camber....but what makes that part adjustable?? Thanks for Japan ok, so the link i gave is only so good....on the left click you search model, pick nissan, terrano (leg lath), then pick suspension and find this part on page 3.......sorry I can't navigate and copy the link !
  6. ok ok ok! Great deal, now is my chance to understand more! What could/would be different to make these adjustable camber?
  7. There are a couple of possibilities here. First repacking and fresh grease is a must! You can google how to repack bearings, removing them is sort of a pain in the arse...it is just that it is well worth it! "Project Pathfinder" This should be super helpful, but use this page also to see your stock hubs ! The the possiblity is that you may have a damaged ball joint that is nt holding things properly! So, if the wheel rocks while it is on the ground it could be either a loose wheel bearing or 1 or 2 bad ball joints.
  8. Though I am helping, we are heading off topic...however, to stop oil from going through the PCV line should be a small pipe cleaner looking part in a hard line that will stop oil from returning all the way through. I only know this because of my late 3.3. When I replaced the Dizzy the hard PCV line came off also to get a good cleaning and found there to be much sludge and this pipe cleaner thingy that my shop said to put back in that it was for this exact reason. I don't see why you couldn't add this to another line if you wanted to, you just need it to be a snug fit so it could not relocate itself!
  9. Open Hubs, exhaust, electric fan...all of these things = HP to the ground also. Just the lifters, my cams sounded like a diesel engine, I had all sorts of clicking from the heads, thus I say get a good shop to install them with the proper specs. I also had failing injectors, they would intermittantly work correctly and then not again. I was able to know via the SAFC and wideband that they worked perfectly at WOT...so I have an idea of how great the cams were. I only wish that I had used a better shop and done this with a healthier path. My path came to me with mud/muck in the air filter, next to no electrodes on the plugs, a rusted fuel filter, plug wires that pulled apart not off, and long since overheated tranny fluid. After all my maintainence, the rig with 31's and a 2" OME lift got 20 MPG on a trip south over an 8 hr drive she was consistant. After the cams, the injectors started acting up, and the tranny started to slip....so I gave up having already invested too much.
  10. I had the lifters replaced....at this point after learning what I learned...that is really not necessary...these parts get very little wear on them from the fairly weak amount of pressure that they are under, let alone that they are already oiled perfectly! I bought a wideband O2 sensor and an Air Fuel Controller to "tune" in my stuff. If you check my profile I had a couple of things that made a difference in HP first...the cams were last. The SAFC will help you dial in the usefulness of those items....again I cannot stress enough that the cams were an awesome upgrade...it may only be 15HP, but with everything else done to the rig it turned out to be the most power producing upgrade. The best part about the upgrade is that it is permanent and virtually harmless for a healthy pathy, the quality of the JWT cams is top notch, so likewise no worries there!
  11. Brake lines? Vac Lines? fuel Lines? Or am I way off and you mean the metal body lines around the strut tower? Hook us up mang!!!
  12. The cams were awesome! I would recommend having a real pro shop install them since there are tolereance differences in the engine that make a difference in how the valves are adjusted...hot = 1 tolerance cold = another tolerance. Anyway, if you wanted to do the springs and retainers also I would recommend getting light components (Titanium) This will also raise your RPM limits (with ecu mods). The cams were definately worth the efforts, my rig had really just been beaten before I got it and that wear showed quickly after getting new parts on her....I really miss my rig!
  13. My goal I would have to say is to have as much power as possible without causing myself many many headaches. I enjoyed the power my VG made after I had the cams, its just that every little thing went wrong then. I have NOT driven the VQ yet so that I do not sell myself on it. I love the old reliability og the VG and liken it to a country song that is just so easy on the ears even non country fans like it, sort of like a good old dog! I dig QX4's and would aim that way for the VG, other than that I would head for an under warranty 03 Path........you can also see that there is a vast difference in price! Hence I lean on "my boys" (& girls) here to kind of help my through experience! Did I mention that I really appreciate everyone that answers and votes? Well Thanks!
  14. I will add that this is a vehicle that I have emailed the dealer about! Hot QX4
  15. I am really over waiting for a buyer of the BMW...I am ready to whole sale the car and get back into an R50....I can hardly wait any longer. I have looked at older QX4's with the 3.3 VQ and I like them whole bunches...I have also fallen in love with the newer R50 Pathfinders with the 3.5 VQ. I am leary about shopping for a VQ due to the idea that I may already have throttle valve screws that damaged the engine, which you can't see from the outside. No dealer would openly admit they know the truck to use too much oil while the other half hardly understands it enough to know if this is a possibility. I really really want a pathy back in my garage and want as much feed back as I can get....I also hope that this leads to a good sized discussion...that is beyond the old tire, wheel, lift, exhaust, intake bla bla bla!
  16. If you are looking inside the bumper openings to mount a set check out the Hella FF50 or FF75...these are great lights that would fit!
  17. Great work man!! Does anyone else think that this should be a service recall? Anybody with an 03-04 have this issue yet?
  18. I still have a great OE set in the gar-age!! Ouch wrong thread to post!?
  19. Ok ok dumb question....XPLORx4 may have this one...open diff or OEM LSD with an air locker...which is better? Or doesn't it mater?
  20. Bah! Who da man? Who da man? Dernt da man! Dernt da man! I knew that the pathy had low HP on the ground but would never have guessed under 140....was that with your intake? That 15 or so from the cams sounds really good now!
  21. Just remember man, that of the entire worlds population there is a top 10%.....which means 90% are left being less inteligent ! My point is that there is no reason to be hard on yourself, everyone has to make mistakes to get into the top 5% 10% 15% 20%...whatever.....I have been on this board now for like 2.5 years and have learned more about vehicles in general from being on here and reading and asking than I am sure most dealerships can vouch for! Good thing for them is that they see the stuff first hand, thus can react better...buuuuuuuuuuuut that is about they can stand on!!! Very few times do you find truly knowledgeable people still working at a dealership...they went and opened their own shop and did things their way....that would be the top 10% mechanics. Stop and think how many people in the world have no idea what you are talking about let alont would even try to attempt this idea of yours....pat yourself on the poe poe !!! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~END AFTER-SCHOOL SPECIAL HERE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Listen to this and relax!!
  22. You are a bad mama-jama DERNT !!! Did you buy those on eBay and then have them repaired and Jet-hot coated??
  23. Since I don't have this rig yet, I am only guessing........BUT ! I would guess that this wire runs directly to the ECU so that the trucks computer "knows" what voltage/amperage the aly is putting out as well as regulating the current for itself, hence tiny tiny wire....an alternator remote wire if you will. My BMW has this same wire that taps into the crimp connector on the alty. WAY TO GO MAN!! Tear that thing down!
