BeaterBomb
Another new guy. This is my first Pathfinder. It isn't pretty, and it needs a little work to be what I consider acceptable. The previous owner had a Plastidip addiction, so the first job is breaking out the pressure washer and blowing that garbage off. I'm not new to offroading or 4wd. I have had Z71s, a Ram, and multiple Jeeps. From what I have read, the Pathfinder can be just as capable as anything else. We shall see.

JamesE50
Hi, new member here. I don't own a R50 but I have it's close relative the Elgrand E50. They share running gear but have different rear suspension design. Thanks
Slartibartfast
I had no idea the Elgrand had R50 underpinnings! Is it 4x4?

The E50 and R50 are very similar. Unibody, McPherson struts up front, coil/5-link rear. There were 4wd models, and they also have the R200A/H233B setup. Same VG and VQ engines by year, and also the QD 3.2L turbo diesel available. Not sure if they had part-time transfer cases, but they did have the ATX14 all-mode. Same style front suspension (same LCAs actually) and subframe (i.e., can be SFD'd, strut tower plate is slightly different and shorter struts). As far as I know, it also a high-pinion R200A and there were different gears available...but higher gears, not lower. For rear suspension, coil springs on the lower control arms instead of the axle tube. It also has a short, wonky panhard setup that functions like a watts link.

xoxscifiguy
Hello Nissan Fans! A forum just for Pathys? How great is THAT? I have a 2003 Pathy with 128,000 original miles that runs like a dream. I just switched every single bulb, including the instrument cluster lights, over to LED's. I'm originally from the Puget Sound area in Washington state, but moved out to central Washington a few years back. Pretty much a Nissan guy since the late 1970's. My previous rigs were a 97 Hardbody KC, an Infiniti QX4, an 82 280 ZX, (restored and sold it) and a bunch of others going back to the 710 sedan. I'm retired now, but that hasn't slowed me down a bit from offroad camping, not even a pinch. My previous rig was the Infiniti QX4, also an 03. Couple of months ago some kid on a motorcycle raced through the red light in the busiest intersection in Billings, Montana and crashed into it. Amazingly, the insurance paid off nearly $7,000 and I got my current Pathy for half that much lol. Blue book said it was only worth 3700 but I didn't ask any questions on how they figured it was worth what they paid. (A total. I stripped it out for all the good stuff before the tow truck came. Some went into the Pathy. I will post up some pictures later. Have to reduce the file sizes I see. No problem.

Nd4SpdSe
I guess I should actually saw hello. I registered back in 2011 but I had bought my 2003 Xterra (supercharged 5-speed) and lingered around for stuff and information, as well as having a few friends here. I have since retired my Xterra back in 2021 and bought a V8 Pathfinder as it`s replacement and been working hard over the years to get it modified as a proper Xterra replacement Edited September 23, 2024 by Nd4SpdSe
ryan6351
Hey everyone! Longtime lurker - just recently got my (second!) 1991 SE-V6 - another ‘91 was my first ever car way back in the day, a hand-me-down with over 200k miles. Glad to finally be back in the club. WAGSNZ
Hi all, from New Zealand! Another long time lurker, first time poster. I've previously owned two WD21's: - VG30 WD21, Airflow Snorkel, 2" lift and 30" A/T's, approx 2009. - TD27 WD21, Custom bar, Airflow snorkel, 2" suspension and 2" body lift and a set of 267/75R16 M/T's, GME TX3100 UHF. As well as a '92 Isuzu Bighorn and an LJ78 Landcruiser Prado. Over the past 12 months been the proud owner of "Wags", an R51 TI (YD25DDTI) which I've been slowly upgrading to be our family adventure/camping rig: So far she's been awesome! Fits the family plus two large dogs while towing the trailer full of camping gear and mountain bikes with ease! Of 4x4's I've owned over the last 20 years of offroading and overlanding, the R51 has been my favourite due to the power, capability and comfort. She has overcome every obstacle I've thrown her at. Will someday purchase another WD21 for a SAS project. Looking forward to gaining and sharing info, and pics of adventures in the Pathy. I live in the South Island where we have awesome braided rivers through breathtaking valleys and high country farming stations. Where in Texas are you? I visited Houston earlier this year to visit my fiancés family. Was amazed how massive greater Houston was... our cities are puny!!!

Wow - I'll look into renting a rig of some sort to check out Red Rocks. We're mostly going to be on the North Island but we'll at least pop down to Nelson for a day or two - I wish we had more time to be able to really explore. Thanks for sharing that site, too! I'm in Austin. Not quite as big as Houston, but yes, the cities here are sprawled-out beyond belief. Houston particularly so!

Be prepared for the fuel prices here if you do get out Looking forward to our next trip to the mainland (got a couple of trips to Hawaii beforehand). We will be heading to Austin as well as Houston, then way up to Pennsylvania to visit more of her family. Was surprised to see so many Pathfinders on the roads last we were there. Happy wheeling fellow Pathy's, hope everybody manages to get some exploring in over the holiday period! I know we will be hitting the trails this Southern Hemisphere summer.
Rome11six
Hey everyone, im from Oregon in the USA. This is my first pathfinder and first real 4x4/off-road rig. I come from drifting and luckydog back ground so not new to wrenching and fabricating but definitely new to 4x4. https://photobucket.com/share/5f81b921-a7b1-4dfc-b1b7-4e14acf06959 My main use will be snow play and general off roading. my cousin has a 87 4runner on 39.5 iroks and my goal is to be able to keep up with him. https://photobucket.com/share/d4f7f1bb-1828-40dc-a4f2-ccc04aec3d8a so plan is to sas with at least 35s. I still have my RB25det from my drift car that I wanna try and stuff in the pathy. I'm not running the rb25 trans but the rb20 and its the same as the ka24 sr20 and vg30 so it should be a bell housing swap and it will bolt up. out side of custom engine and trans mounts. but we will see how that goes. She runs and drives great even for 222,xxx miles on her and even came from Alaska.

CascadeCrawler
Hello everyone! I’m from the PNW and started my journey in June, with a different pathfinder than im driving now (its a sad story). that pathfinder was, and my current one is stock, but gonna be working on fixing that soon! shes a deep blue 1999 pre-facelift SE with 199k on the dash and still going strong. ill post a picture when i can resize the photos to be small enough. the pathfinder is my first 4x4 and while it wasnt my first car, it was the first car i truly loved. im so stoked to be here - learning more about this platform and getting to learn more about cars in general. thanks for having me. Pathogenic
Hey everybody, just got a pathfinder a month ago and excited to join this community! From the PNW and have taken this thing up to the mountains already where it did beautifully (except for gas mileage haha). Got it for $300 and it was in horrible condition but technically started.. Replaced the steering bushings and replaced a timing belt (cams were off by 6 teeth!) and its running pretty good! Probably will get a newer engine down the road as its at 270k but excited to start lifting it and modifying it more.
Rasalhague
Hi im Rasalhague. I just picked up a manual 1998 Pathfinder Chilkoot. I live near Chicago. I have lots of questions, tools and very little money. I also have a life time of Cuban chrome living with my refuge father and mother. I look forward to learning and trying to contribute.
Species_Anomaly
Hello! Back in January, I picked up my second R50, this one being an '03 LE. It's a bit different than my old '99 SE, but still the same reliable truck I've always known. Evap leak included, lol. I have some plans for it, and plan on keeping it for a good while... or until the frame rusts out, whichever comes first. I do live near Chicago, after all, and we love our road salt. xXxOlMan
Hello everyone… I’m here because it looks like a good place for some info that seems to be missing anywhere else in the known universe;) I try to do most if not all of my own maintenance and upgrades on my high mileage 2000 SE. If I have posted this in the wrong location, I apologize. Just trying to introduce myself.
OlRed1994
Hey! I’ve been following this forums since probably 2016 when I was in high school but I finally decided to join. Im from Oregon and I currently working on my Automotive Engineering degree at BYU-Idaho. I’ve got a 1994 Nissan Pathfinder XE wd21 4x4 with a 5spd. I love this vehicle and it was my first car. Back in high school I swapped in a used transmission after the OG broke. I also built a winch bumper, roof rack and rock sliders. I’ve driven over Imogene Pass in CO and wheeled it in Moab, UT over Hells Gate plus the Oregon dunes. Sadly, it spun a bearing 2 years ago and it’s been sitting until a few days ago I can back from college and I’m working on vg33 swapping it. I’m gonna need all the help I can get and I’d love to help in anyway I can. Just glad to finally be here!
