Unusually for a 4WD wagon, Nissan offered the Pathfinder with a four-speed auto trans only. There was no manual gearbox available.

The full artical can be found here.

Ok, well - you read it on the internet - so it MUST be true.

Well it is a review. That review also says that the Pathfinder is good both on an off road. We know that's not right too don't we.

Yeah B get rid of all posts relating to the 'supposed' Pathfinder.

Oh for certain. That's why I'm a member of the Nissan Pathfinders Offroad Association. Because I like to take my truck offroad and IT SUCKS.

(ps thank you Precise~! B) )

let me start off by saying well done B for moving this.

Now back to what Pezzy was saying. And I quote.... " Ok, well - you read it on the internet - so it MUST be true."

If you bothered to look at the artical you would have found that it was not an internet based review at all. It was in fact an artical written by a well respected jerno for the Herald Sun. Melbournes number 1 news paper. Please, in future know what you're talking about before you start bagging authors just because there reviews are posted on the internet. Besides that, not all things on the net could be too bad. You did get your husband from there.

Vsicks - you are right - I didnt read the article, as the link didnt work.

Regardless - if we're arguing about whether the R50 has a manual transmission option, maybe we should be more specific?? Otherwise this conversation is going around in circles...

In CANADA, as per Trainman's post, and the links I posted up - the R50 is available with a manual transmission. Seems that it is not the same on your side of the planet.

Here are a bunch of links that show R50's were available with manual transmissions in North America.

Some of the colonies got some good stuff!

2002 Pathfinder US Specs

2001-2004 Pathfinder used reviews/specs (US)

2001-2003 Pathfinder Used Review Specs (Canada)

Full article here: 2001-2003 Pathfinder Used Review Canada

One difference between Canada and the US: In Canada, we could not get 2 wd Pathfinders (good thing too with all the snow we get!)

No Manual transmission in 2005 Pathfinder

Maybe only in Canada? From Nissan.ca specs for 2005 Pathfinder:

Drivetrain

5-speed automatic transmission

Shift-on-the-fly 4WD with 2-speed transfer case

All-mode 4WD with 2-speed transfer case

Link: 2005 Nissan Pathfinder Specs (Nissan Canada)

And All-mode 4wd only on top of the line LE.

Now that is SAD. I don't like those beasts but it implies that the owners dont know how/have no interest in driving, just talking on the cell phone, sipping latte's and watching movies on the dual lcd displays... Sheeple will buy them.

Now the Aussie version gets a 6 speed manual for the diesel models. http://www.nissan.com.au/pathfinder/specifications.asp

We didn't get the diesel R50's so that might explain the fact that you can't get a manual here. Either way, Australia seems to be the trend setter. :cool2:

That is why when it comes time to replacing my Pathy, I will look at the X-terra, not the "new" Pathy.

(neat way to bring it back on topic eh? Opps, that is another thread now!)
