i looked in the engine bay at the shock towers they looked ok to me...or do i check them from inside the wheel well?

From the outside , behind the coil/strut assembly , down low . No need to open the hood . Looks can be deceiving , if you brought it in for the recall check they'd be poking it with a screwdriver or the like . Drivers side is usually the bigger issue .

Don't want to hijack this thread.. but that recall still aplies? Do they ever "run out" or have a time limit on those recalls?

also nice looking buggy for cheap. Like hawairish said. I would have already bought that thing lol

por15 the best way to treat the rust?

Yes, POR15 is incredible. Paint it on right over rust. Totally encapsulates it forever.

If you carefully apply it and the rust is contained to behind the flares, then you can put the flares back on afterwards without the need for any other cosmetic cleanup.

well some of the rust bubbles are about where the flares are so it will need to have some cosmetic cleanup done to it for sure and where the flares screw into the wheel well there is rust there so some form of repair needed for that too.....
