hawairish
No sweat! Totally agree...if this deal is a good one, and that's the extent of the problems, I would have jumped on it already. Definitely a good project if there aren't any major gremlins.
Beatup96
If it has rust you'll want to check the strut towers .
thorrinn123
isn't there a recall on those?
Beatup96
isn't there a recall on those? Yes . Search it here there is a lot of info . If it has issues there I'd pass , otherwise I'd probably jump on it .
thorrinn123
i looked in the engine bay at the shock towers they looked ok to me...or do i check them from inside the wheel well?
Beatup96
i looked in the engine bay at the shock towers they looked ok to me...or do i check them from inside the wheel well? From the outside , behind the coil/strut assembly , down low . No need to open the hood . Looks can be deceiving , if you brought it in for the recall check they'd be poking it with a screwdriver or the like . Drivers side is usually the bigger issue . hawairish
Here's the NHTSA bulletin: It's a very specific area of coverage near the strut.

hawairish
Yeah, though a couple pics are just what you need to look for. I'd presume something similar for CAN, but not sure.
Prattage
Don't want to hijack this thread.. but that recall still aplies? Do they ever "run out" or have a time limit on those recalls? also nice looking buggy for cheap. Like hawairish said. I would have already bought that thing lol
hawairish
Nope, recalls don't expire to my knowledge.
jyeager
por15 the best way to treat the rust? Yes, POR15 is incredible. Paint it on right over rust. Totally encapsulates it forever. If you carefully apply it and the rust is contained to behind the flares, then you can put the flares back on afterwards without the need for any other cosmetic cleanup. thorrinn123
well some of the rust bubbles are about where the flares are so it will need to have some cosmetic cleanup done to it for sure and where the flares screw into the wheel well there is rust there so some form of repair needed for that too..... hawairish
BTW, if you can get the VIN, you can check for recall items: http://www.nissanusa.com/recalls-vin#/

patqx4
Good call, if it overheats and the owner didn't disclose that, who knows what else he isn't telling you.
Prattage
Good call man. I bought mine without really looking at it. Turns out it's alot more work needed than I thought. All rust repair. Runs mint. I'm a sucker for a good running truck lol
