pathy97
I replaced the right side upstream o2 sensor and it was black/foulded what could cause this? A vacuum leak? It doesnt burn oil.
adamzan
Well if the sensor was bad and the truck was running rich, I think that would be your cause.

nik905
You could have a fouled spark plug or have a bad catalytic system
dynomax
I replaced the right side upstream o2 sensor and it was black/foulded what could cause this? A vacuum leak? It doesnt burn oil. I am still debating on doing mine just to get some MPG. 10MPG is not very good. I have tried E10 87 octane, but generally run 91 premium E0, I really find no difference with either. two questions, how the heck do I get at these upstream sensors, and what sensors did you replace with??? part numbers would be cool too! sroeser01
Running premium fuel in your truck is pointless and your wasting money. Just fix the truck and it will run properly
fastpakr
Running premium fuel in your truck is pointless and your wasting money. Just fix the truck and it will run properly The QX4 specifies premium fuel, is this not the case on the VQ in the '04 Pathfinder? I realize the VG in your 97 doesn't require it. Towncivilian
All Nissan / Infiniti models with the VQ35DE recommend premium fuel. There is certainly a benefit to doing so, I notice better engine performance over 87. VG engines will not benefit from premium.
