OlBlue
Hi, my exhaust is leaking badly. What effect will this have on performance? Will it set off a knock sensor code?
NissanNismoZ
I could only see it setting off a knock sensor code if the exhaust started banging around.. and that's only because when i had a knock sensor code it was from a banging exhaust. Hope this helps!
ejin4499
I think it depends on where the leak is. I have always been told that if you have a leak anywhere before your O2 sensor that it can throw off your reading. When I put my headers on they use a slip fitting on the cross over pipe; I had a lot of trouble with my idle until I got that welded. When I had a leaking manifold I don't think I had any real issues with emissions or idle. Personaly I think its not that big at deal as long as its right at your manifold or after your O2 sensor. YMMV Edited March 30, 2012 by ejin4499
adamzan
I agree, mine is leaking at the flange right before the o2 sensor and it runs OK, but I can tell it isn't right and the gas mileage is reduced.
OlBlue
Hi thanks, I noticed the mileage is down, and she sounds rough. The leak is right up at the manifold. I am going to redo the t-belt next weekend and hopefully get to the exhaust too.
Precise1
You might have some broken studs but sometimes they are just loose. Lets hope that's it... B
Slartibartfast
Mine seemed to pull a little harder after having the exhaust done. Then again, it sounded like a shop vac before, and I was used to guessing the speed by sound... I may have just been putting my foot in more. And yeah, unless it's thumping against something, the knock code shouldn't come up.
