Good Times!

So took the kids out in the new pathfinder to get inspected and tags put on. Its a hot hot day here in Missouri and the a/c belt was squawking and it seemed to be putting a load on the engine, so were persevered and just rolled down the windows. On the way home it started looking dark off in the direction for home then all of a sudden it started pouring! So i went to hit the window switch and it wouldn't roll up! Are you kidding me! So we made our first family memory by having driving rain coming in on all sides hitting us at 60 mph. Like i said good times! Any ideas on the switch? The power lock button works but nothing on the window switches. And also why would my a/c comp be putting that kind of a load on the engine? It idles around 500 or so with it on.

Try recharging your system. The refigerant will have a special lubricant in it for the internals of your AC pump.

This should do 3 things;

  1. reduce drag on the system
  2. cause they system to run less to maintain preassure
  3. may reveal leaks or other problems when charging.

somone else will chime in about the windows...

I take it the windows wouldn't roll up at the individual doors either? On my 94 I took the switch apart and cleaned the contacts but am still looking for a drivers door switch as my pass. front window will roll down from the drivers side but doesn't want to roll back up all the time.

If you have no power to the switch try kicking the driver side kick panel a few times.

There is a connector behind it where the harness from the switch connects to the main body switch.

Your left foot over time can cause it to pull apart.

Pull the kickpanel and find the connector, pull it out and push it back real tight.
