Throttle Body Spacer

Recommended Posts

did anyone ever make a TB spacer for our 3.0's? i have been pondering whether or not this would help my truck, and I know someone who could make one, if i had a spare TB to mock one up. I just thought I'd ask first to save the trouble.

somone did for their rig. I beive they said they could feel no benifit from doing so. I think they spaced it up to 1/2".

I am also under the belief that a spacer used on a carburator style intake manifold is pretty much useless.

What will benifit you is gutting out your mixture heater as that is a nearly useless restriction in the intake. and there are other good reasons to remove it...

I tried this a while back and had nothing but trouble; almost like she was getting TOO much air.

I suggest eku, that if you're gonna try this look at the mixture heater first. There were 2 different heaters between 87 and 89. One had 1cm spaces in the grid(like mine), and the other had 3mm spaces; so I think nissan figured out the restriction issue and corrected it.

the main restriction in this engine is the size of the valves, they are very small

I disagree, I think getting the same ammount of air in there at a higer velocity is a good thing unless your trying to build a high rev motor.

Now I think having a little more cam duration instead of a bigger valve would be more benificial.

It seems the Heawork section at redz31.com give the same idea... http://www.redz31.net/pages/headwork.html#valves
