Tungsten
I started having this issue where the oil light goes on for 5 seconds while the engine stumbles and then it just springs to life and the light goes away. I just put in Mobil1 5W-30 Synthetic into it which hopefully will fix the problem. This usually happens during cold starts. Is my engine wearing down? (motor has about 300,000 miles)
nunya
First suggestion was gonna be fresh oil, but you say you just changed it... Weak oil pump? Time for a little thicker oil?
Precise1
Especially that the motor is stumbling at first, it is taking a moment (and higher rpm) to build pressure. Yeah, it's getting old, but nothing to panic about... B

Tungsten
well its not stumbling anymore but the light is still on for that first few 3 to 5 seconds
BenStoked
just for curiosity sake, what kind of oil filter did/do you use? whether or not it has an anti-drainback thing may make a difference in startup issues (lifter noise, low pressure, etc.). Channel595
5w 30 is way too thin for 300k miles, use at least 10w
adamzan
I would use 5w50 mobil1 synthetic, that is what I use in the summer on mine with 185k miles roughly converted from kms. Doesn't burn or leak a drop and I want to keep it that way.
