Hi folks. I have a 91 pathfinder and the left headlight doesn't work. It started going on and off then died. Odd thing, When I cross rivers or cross puddles they tend to work for a time. What are the most likely places to look for the short. Oh, what years of pathfinders are compatible with the 91.

87-95 heldlights are compatible and some hardbody pickuplights were the same as well. they whole assembly from the pickups can be swithced as an option too.

Whatever route you go I recomend you do a direct battery relay for the lights and ditch the undersized stock wires. Even with cheap bulbs you will notice more relyable ligting that is brighter as well;

I bet you its in your switch, they commonly fail.

and yes it will alow only 1 light to work.

when mine went out, i had 1 left low beam and 1 right high beam.

replaced the switch 74 bucks from the steeler and all is good.

because of they way they are wired, its very hard to trouble shoot.

I had a problem with the lights on my 92. The connector had deteriorated and the pins were loose. I found replacement connector pigtails at Wal-Mart for a couple of bucks. After replacing the connectors I never had a problem again.

Most common cause is as 87pathy said, the switch on the column. I also had to replace mine. I took it apart a few times and bent the contacts to extend it's life... but in the end, I had to replace it.

Yeah, same here, definitely switch. I'm going to have to replace mine shortly, starting to call it blinky because your never sure which light is going to come on, then it will for a second, then fail again. I've pulled my switch apart 3 times now, getting sick of doing it.
