Aggravated Assault for shooting people without warning (as the story implies), without verifying they were actually on property and without being threatened ? This should be murder, plain and simple. With special circumstances for the callous way the wife handed the gun to the husband and then casually called 911.

??? What lesson, they weren't even on their property. "Authorities said the couple fired after they mistakenly thought the group was trespassing on their property". The pictures of them also look like they have a habit of using meth or crack. That can cause you to be paranoid and not think straight. It also says that they had a sign "Trespassers will be shot. Survivers will be reshot!! Smile I will." When you point a shotgun at people and fire it and kill someone that is murder. If you accidently discharge a shotgun and it kills someone that is manslaughter. This looks like murder.

sign is a warning, that's it.. that's how it is in my state.. tx is most likely completely different.

manslaughter is more like unintentional killing, like if you run someone over by accident its usually manslaugher as you didnt turn the wheel into the person on purpose.

 

this sounds like murder as they shot someone with intent to kill and it was not in self defense, or because they were trespassing(even if they thought they were trespassing)

 

idk about TX but in AZ if you even point a gun at someone in a non-self defense situation its an offense as it is assumed you intend to shoot anything you point a gun at (2nd rule of gun safety: never point your gun at anything you are not intending to destroy)

that sucks...I have been in area's that were known to area's where you may get shot at just for being there. I opted to stay away from those area's and I know people who had their vehicles struck with bird shot. an over reaction maybe but a lot of my family, not direct family live in the mountains of NC who are doing things that folks shouldnt be snooping around so being on or around their property is enough cause for them to shoot...

 

I don't agree with it and this really sucks but always know where you're going wheeling and try to be familiar with the area...I've enen had run in's where I was cruising on Ft bragg down fire breaks in the middle of BFE and come across signs NO POV's beyond this point...that was a slap it in R and get the hell out of there
