Unbolt the old ones, bolt up the new ones.

You MAY have to unbolt the panhard rod at the axle end, and slide it off the stud slightly to get the bottom of one shock off, maybe not.

It really IS that easy. Takes a 17mm and a 19mm wrench IIRC. I've always unbolted the panhard rod lower mount to get the driver's side shock off. There's nothing complicated at all about it. That mechanic would have made MONEY off of you!

yup

no need for the panhard to be undone but i guess if you like turning wrenches then don't let me stop ya. :)

the main PITA with mine was that the bolts were rusty or just stuffed full of crap because turning them was hard and took me for ever. the fronts were actually worse but overall they aren't any worse.

Same thing basically. Use a wrench or ratchet to get the top nut off, and a 17mm socket with a ratchet to get the bottom off. Then pull the shock out. Installation is reverse of removal.

And, as MZ said, get matching shocks. I gave you the part number for the Rancho's for the front in another thread.

By the way, you can get a package deal from 4WheelParts.com for all 4 shocks PLUS a steering stabilizer for $150 or so. I wouldn't drop $60 EACH on Rancho 5000's if I could get all 4 with the SS for cheaper.

Pro-Comp ES3000's plus SS, $141.95, very close to Rancho 5000's.

Pro-Comp ES9000's plus SS, $149.95, dunno how they compare to Ranchos but they have a 9 in the product number, it must mean they're better! ;)

Personally I'd roll the Pro-Comp shocks, I've never heard anything bad about them.

Problem with that, Aaron, is that he's Canadian. So 4 wheel parts plus shipping and doodie to Canada = not such a good deal.

ProComp 3000's are about $50 a piece up here.

the bolts are seized :'( how would i get them off

Lots and lots of PB blaster, wd40, slurp (my personal favorite). Let them soak for a bit. It's way easier if you have air.
