Got One! Stupid alarm almost got me arrested. LOL.

So yah... bought a Pathy earlier this afternoon. Worked a bit late to make up for time lost and while I was fumbling in the dark to get into the truck, the stupid alarm goes off. And just my luck, a sheriff's patrol happens to roll by. Being in LA, they automatically assumed the worst. Got patted down. Hands on the hood. The whole nine yards, short of handcuffs. Anyway, the misunderstanding was quickly sorted out once they saw the paperwork.

My question... the alarm appears to be factory. On the center console/arm rest there is a 3 position rocker switch with red LED. The 3 positions are labeled, off, impact only (or something like that) and alarm (or i'm going to scream like a useless piece of xxxx). As far as I know, it doesn't have keyless entry (but does have power locks). So how do I use this alarm?

What I can think of is when parking... set rocker to alarm, lock and shut the doors. When disarming, unlock and turn alarm off via rocker switch?

Also, I don't have a owner's manual. Where can I find one? eBay? any downloadable versions online?

It should have keyless entry if it has the alarm. Look under the driver's seat (you'll have to remove it, four bolts) and lift the carpet underneath. You should find a larger silver box and a smaller black one. If you have the smaller black box, you *do* have the remote keyless entry.

Just so happens I have a remote for that system for sale, too. :)

CONGRATS ON THE NEW PATHY!!!!!!!!!! The rocker switch all the way up toward the center console should be ARM. The center position IMPACT ONLY, All the way down should be OFF! Hope this helps! CONGRATS again! Now I wanna see some pics!! OH YEAH! Nice choice! 95XE!!............. ME TOO! :lmao:

Lemme know if you need any more help!

The alarm is a passive entry system. you have like 30 secs to enter the pathy and put the key in the ignition and turn the key before the alarm goes off. not much use if you ask me, but I guess it is better than nothing. It stopped working in my pathy after a while.

BTW I think you have to have the key in the ignition and turned to have the toggle switch take effect any change.

you can leave the switch on all the time as listed above in the previous 2 posts...

I dont think that is the case b/c I would always accidentally turn mine on when I was cleaning my truck and wouldnt find out until I went somewhere like the grocery store and open the back hatch and halfway through unloading it would go off so I'd sprint to open the door and put the key in the ignition and turn it on to get it to go off

you should have a key fob for the keyless entry/alarm. You can do an ebay search on G57NTX318 which is the FCC ID for it. I picked up one for 12 and then never used it as I was able to fix my old one. The ones from 93 thru 95 are the same so the one from Ghostpath should work. Programming instructions are posted. I do not have a spare owners manual but there are FSM's available for download. (probably an owners manual too but I have to take a few minutes to hack the path to get to it)

The settings on the alarm are OFF (obvious), Impact Only which I never use and On which will make more noise than a cheap porn actress. You have passive arming in that, if the alarm is not OFF, you can lock all your doors and close them and about 30 seconds later, the system will arm (good to know if you get an insurance discount for having a passive arming system). If you open the door when the alarm is activated, you have a few seconds to get the key in the ignition before all hell breaks loose.

I currently have the 94FSM hosted and the 95 is just a supplimental document to the 94. If youa re interested, PM me and I'll let you know where it is or, if you have a slow connection, I can burn a CD and snail-mail it for a few dollars to cover postage.

Until you get a key fob, leave the alarm on, activate it by locking all doors and shutting them (watch the little light for 30 sec... it'll blink fast while it is preparing to arm). After 30 sec or so, the lights should flash once and a short beep should be heard. The alarm light will then blink slowly (it's armed). To get into it, all you need to do is open the door, put the key int he ignition and turn it on (not even start it). No need to monkey with the switch. The alarm will remain inactive until it is armed again. Only problem is if you go to load sh!t into the back and unlock/open the hatch first. You will trigger the alarm and then need to go unlock the door and get the key in while everyone looks at you.

had my window down last week while I was working on getting her ready for the BL

reached in, popped the hood (not thinking about alarm) buddy was in front wheelwell pulling off rubber covers when it went off; damn hood switch!

Wrapped his head on the 1/4 panel; told him "she knows you drive a Jeep!"

Thanks. I will try to take some this weekend.

So it's a definite yes that if I have power locks and alarm I should have keyless? Haven't had much of a chance to have a closer look at the truck. Been working like a dawg on some Nissan advertising.

FSM = factory service manual? Thanks for the offer, I have both 94 and 95 on CD-ROM. If anyone is interested let me know. I can probably make copies.

heck to make sure your brake light switch still works and is plugged in

theres one in the parts for sale

I think I always knocked it to "impact" so I had a peskey spare tire carrier and it rocked the truck pretty good and soemtimes it was after I slammed the hatch and closed the tire and I sat down in the truck then the nazi alarm started screaming

Hey Monk, I saw you had the FSM for the 95' on CD-ROM... I'll take a copy if you can manage it. my e-mail is copess1972@yahoo.com if you just want to send the file that way, otherwise e-mail me and I'll give you my address! Thanks Bobby

Personally I keep the shock sensor disabled (middle switch position).

After key->out, and locking the doors, you get 30seconds to exit.

There are two zones: doors and hatch/hood. If you don't shut the door within 30seconds after locking, the door zone is bypass, but the hatch/hood are still protected. Once the door is shut, that zone is re-activated.

When entering, you have 30seconds to put the key in->run.

The hatch/hood do *NOT* have a 30second delay entry: immediate alarm.

Also for those who don't know: use the key to 'mechanically' unlock the drivers door. Turn it again (the same direction), and all doors/hatch unlock.

The sensitivity of the shock sensor can be adjusted, but i never bothered.

It turns out even with the rocker set to off, the alarm will still go nuts if I don't turn the key after 30 or whatever seconds. I'm tempted to just rip this system out and install a basic aftermarket unit. It is just plain annoying.

I wish I could help you with this one but its the last thing on my original equipment fixes list! I still gotta fix the speedo then the alarm! Mine LED on the switch flashes fast all the time in all positions and the alarm will not go off at any time(THANK GOD!!) I havent looked into it yet but Im thinking either the switch is bad or I have no power leaving the switch(duh!! meaning the switch is probably bad!!) However, the speedo is more important first, so good luck and lemme know how you make out with it!

the alarm on my 95 pathy goes off when i unlock my doors if i dont put the key in the ignition, the person i bought it from said they replaced the all the locks, think that had something to do about it, i think they said it had the keyless entry or what ever you call it (i just call it havin a remote)

Read the thread. It's a passive system. Within 30 seconds of opening a door, you must insert the key into the ignition and turn it to the ON position to deactivate the alarm. If you don't, the alarm will scream bloody murder. Whether the locks were replaced has nothing to do with it. If you need a remote, there are a few for sale on ebay. To program a new remote to work see this thread: http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=14318

I've got a question about this thread. As I already stated my alarm doesnt work. However, I put a new battery in my key fob and reprogrammed the thing to the box under the drivers seat (heard the confirming chirp as it acknowledged my remote) but it will not lock and unlock my doors! Does the keyless via the key fob only work if the alarm is operational?

This is what I assume, since it isnt working!
