  1. Weird, yeah, mine only had the POS cardboard one on the front, and one on the gas tank.
  2. stock skid plate? on an R50? BAHAHHAHAA... omg GG, you're funny!!
  3. So far the closest in style I am finding are "finishing washers"
  4. lol, I swiped the pic from Vengeful ages ago!! I figure someone may come across the thread who knows hardware, and be like, oh crap, THOSE THINGS!? They're called "fhdafhdakl" and you can get them here...
  5. For anyone wondering wtf we're talking about...
  6. I have asked him in the past for more... It's one of those things on my to do list -- to find another source. Google'ing now...
  7. I had a chat with Marcel a few days ago... I think at this point he is trying to decide what exactly he wants to do with Black Panther... hopefully he sticks around, he does make a great product, and like you said, our options are pretty limited, and it hurts to lose a supplier. As for the T-case skid... I would say for the time being we're on our own trying to figure a better mounting system for that piece.
  8. Holy crap @ that pic!! I have the same issues with rockwashers... I leave them on the trail like a lost kid with bread crumbs...
  9. /\ As mentioned if you're looking for optima, red is a good starting battery, yellow is a good working battery for winching, lots of lights... stuff that will drain the battery. We have a buddy running a bluetop (or similar marine battery) and has no issues... he has a winch, however being that they are typically for marine use, I do wonder how they would fare in the winter. I just killed a yellow top... (randomly gave up on me, was only about 2.5 years old)... we're trying out a crappy tire battery with similar specs to the yellowtop. It was cheaper, and has a way better warranty. Search CT's site for: Motomaster Eliminator Spiral Grid Battery From $159.99 Product #10-7590-8 http://www.canadiantire.ca Although, when Simon went to pick it up for me, they told him the warranty wouldn't apply to my truck, as it wasn't listed in their magical little book. The 99 Nissan Quest is, and as far as they know, that is what I am driving. I picked this up in August, and haven't had any issues with it. That said, I havent really had a chance to work it too much. A couple winching episodes, that's all.
  10. Damn, we were more than half way to your place last weekend (St Thomas). Good to hear from you again Dowser... as Simon said, we should meet up soon. Simon is another one that went from having a manual to an auto... not so much by choice, but the options were slim, and he needed a pathy. It was lack of frame rot vs. the transmission, and we found one with a decent frame. Simon doesnt mind it (no where near as much as he expected to). Based on his experience I would have to agree with B, if you find the right one, don't worry about the transmission...
  11. Maybe, but Jeepers SAS XJ's all the time, and they're unibody trucks.
  12. I can only guess a SAS would be a lot more work, being that it is, for the most part, uncharted territory. (although I have heard whispers of two separate people that may be working on a SAS for an R50). I dont know a great deal about the subframe drop... if you came across Kinat's post, http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19763 you will see that is what they have been doing in Japan for longer than I have owned my truck. If you look on the AC board, there is a pretty detailed thread of System F's build (someone who trolls that board more often, please confirm that, It's been a while), as he created one for his truck, and sold a couple. You can also search the term PRADO, a couple guys were working on the lifts under that name, but it never got far. They had a website & forum which is now toast AFAIK, but there may be some info & posts about their lift on the other forums.
  13. Nothing close up... You can see the feet and the bars in this picture. And this one kinda has a close up of the feet, and you can see the end of the bar (dont mind the idiot IN the basket!) Mine is all from Thule... it's not cheap. I was able to get the majority of it used. Feet: http://www.thuleracks.com/product.asp?dept_id=2&sku=430 Foot mounts: (they slide into the factory rails, you need them for the feet) http://www.thuleracks.com/product.asp?dept_id=82&sku=TK1 Bars: http://www.thuleracks.com/product.asp?dept...69&sku=LB50 From here you can pick out what you need: http://www.thuleracks.com/fg_vehicle.asp Yakima also makes a system, which I assume is similar.
  14. As far as I know, if you want Nissan ones, only the stock pathfinder ones will work. I have aftermarket Thule ones... you can buy the footings especially for your truck, and then the actual cross bars are universal.
  15. haha, you gonna go knock on his door with the puppy dog eyes?
  16. Well, either it's typical Calmini customer service... or maybe he listed Canadian, or it includes shipping?? As for Rough Country... When I ordered Simon's UCA's I called for a price, and was given a retarded high price. I then checked the boards, to recheck what I had read from others... I called back a couple weeks later and was given another price, which was much cheaper. I ordered them then!! Pickles, I believe the price has gone up since you ordered yours... pretty sure I paid more than that.
  17. lol@dagz... you need sliders for your exhaust!
  18. Hopefully this will help: http://www.canadianpathy.com/pezzy/su.pdf
  19. I'm not sure which part you are refering to, but I can go outside and look if I can help you out at all.
  20. Personal drama, divorce... I dont believe he's made any new skids since then. PDCCD, I do chat with Marcel from time to time, I can ask him what he had in mind in order to "fix" the t-case skidplate.
  21. Vengeful apparently turned his T-case skid into a taco sometime last year. Mine is torn off, but on purpose... we removed it last fall, and never got around to re-installing it. Mine got pushed up into the t-case and would rattle like a mofo... we added some washers to space it away, but it got pushed up again, and the rattles continued. When I spoke to Vengeful last year he had said Marcel was looking into redesigning the T-case skid plate, or the mounts. But being that he's not really doing the skidplates anymore, I would say it's safe to say that nothing has been done. I will agree that the mounting on the T-case skidplate was pretty flimsy. We had planned to look at setting up something stronger.
  22. Trainman, I am really sorry to hear about this. I hope you do stick around, I've always appreciated your posts here. By any chance, did you sell the cargo barrier you had with the truck?? (I think you had one)
  23. I did a search for the story, it IS a new one: http://www.timesleaderonline.com/page/cont.../id/505810.html That said, when I read it, I remembered reading a very similar story where the clevis went through the back of a guys head and killed him instantly... This might be the one: http://www.jeepaholics.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32986 Some more useful recovery info: http://www.offroaders.com/tech/Tow_Straps.htm
  24. This one was posted on a board, and then on another board, and now here... But the message is strong. Thought I would share, hopefully none of us will share the same fate.
