As many of you know I have moved from a moderate winter climate of North Carolina to Fairmont area British Columbia Canada. I was wondering what would be best for keeping the truck from freezing up beside from the regular maint. stuff like the radiator fluids and oil. Do I need to change out the Trans or diffs to a diffrent oil for less viscosity? What are your thoughts on types of block heaters and what works best for the 0*C and colder as it looks like we will be getting these tempatures this week where I am. Thanks for your time and if anything else comes to mind for winterizing let me know thanx.

But like you siad I may like it so much I may never go state side again...thats ok I have dual citizenship USA/CA. -
I will be rebuilding my front end here pretty soon to be able to take the trip of moving across the country and in to Canada. Im gettin all the parts i need gathered for this occasion. New Cv joints, bushings, links, ball joints. What else do you think that will needed to me be checked before a 2400 mile road trip....I will have the belts, plugs wires, filters and fluids changed for the trip...anything else you can think of...alignment after everything is put on... Also with the new intsalled OME springs the front end needs some weight added to it...dont have time to build a bumper/winch box right now...

I have an opportunity to move up there and stay with some family and get work since I'm dual citizen USA/CANADA... so who on here is up around those parts?? If I do decide to go I will be driving up from North Carolina...

VG34........3.5L enigne build w/ supercharger
smoke replied to smoke's topic in Solid Axle Swaps, Hardcore Custom Fab
For the original post... what are your plans for this build? Wheeler, tow rig, more zip??? I used VG30dett rods.. got new bushings from. HERE Im looking for more all around power to help pull my 12 foot trailer better and possiblly a lil better gas milage. I kno there will be more zip to the truck. Maybe even add a super charger to it in the future after building it. Still lots of research to do... -
any intrest in stock chrome rims 98 r-50
smoke replied to captandy's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
keep them... that way you can have your everyday wheels and then you have you off road wheels.... thats what I will be doing with mine when i can afford soft 8's. -
I have seen a few articles on this online over the last few months and I am trying to put together a build list to do this. From what I can see you are taking a VG 33 blosck and boring it over 1.6mm for the Q piston(93mm out of a Q45 sadan V-8) with a wrist pin of 22mm. Change out the rods to VG30ET( Im assuming pushrods right?) Other than finding the pistons and or haveing some machined, what else do I need to look for. All of the articles and sites I have been on are a year or older. So if there is any other sites out there with info on them I would greatly appriciate it.

Well I kno the ball joints need replacing. But I have never seen ball joints do that. The way it sounded made me thing the cv knuckle was sliping out of place. will see with next paycheck.
-
Standard stock hubs. I have used the 4x4 a few times in the feild at my friends place seem to work fine. Im off tues and wed. so will put the jack under it and see.
-
It was when I was in 2wd. I dont kno what there lookin like right now. I know that I need new ball joints but for it to sound the way it does, it sounds like the knuckels are coming out of shaft.
-
OK....Since putting the lift on the truck. ARB HD front and ARB MD rear. I have had what I think is the CV knuckles coming out at times. It happens when driving over a hill and when in turns that are on hills. Im guessing the force of topping the hill is bottoming out the front suspension, and it is causing a rapid thuding like sound. Has anyone else had this happen to them with a lift? Do I need to get a fractionally longer CV shaft to keep it from doing that? Any ideas?
-
The more the backspace the more a tire stick out the side of the truck correct? I got some rub issues on the inside frame rail and want to fix that problem...Almost had my hands on a set of cragger 8's but the blank-hole sold them to somone else where i thought we had somethin set up...anyways... more back space more outside the vechile yes or no? need new rims since my accident in may they are leaking air

Would love to see some specs and mounts of the bar.

Sorry I forgot to add that on here.... pre-install 235/75/15 stock suspension post lift 265/70/15 ARB HD front add 3.5" ARB MD rear add 4.2" From puttin it back to stock hight and swaping in the larger tires gave it the added lift, but it was almost 1.25" above stock hight even with stock 235/75/15 tires.
