Yea it has sucked.... Im thinking the oil pump stopped working. maybe a combination of timing belt and/or oil pump. IDK....

While crusing on the highway my insturment cluster started to talk to me and I mean every single light was flashing. There was a sudden loss of power and lot of noise coming from the motor. The motor stalled on me and I had to do a rooling nuetral start at 65mph. I managed to get to the shulder of the highway when she blew... Had a hole bigger than my fist above the oil pan, oil pan hanging off the motor and lots of shards of at least a piston or 2 and rod all over the ground with about 3 litres of oil. Pix to come.

470 miles at 55mph 8700lbs on a triple axel trailer 90% flat highway

Got a set of Cooper Discoverer ATR 265/75/16. These tiers were outstanding performance in the snow storm that was raging on my trip form Winston-Salem NC to Toledo Ohio when I moved up on New Years Eve night. I was blasting through the snow at an average 40-55 MPH in 2wd. The only time I have to use the 4wd was to help a older couple out of the ditch with a lil chain pull. It was wome white knucle driving but never once did I slip or falter anywhere...

What other SUVs/trucks have the same wheel bolt pattern?
smoke replied to stioc's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
2004 era half ton chevy 6 bolts work.... i have a set of steels on from a 2004 chevy avalanch on mine. -
I hit it with the head of my axe several times... nothing... A fellow Firefighter tried to jump it off for me with his R51 and nothing happened. Looks like i have to pull the starter and look at it.

nope...and the guy at the gas station where it is at wont come outside and help something with the safety of the employee with working there... i understand because i used to work at a gas station. and people here are just staring and walking past... I guess its all of the off road lights on the bumper thats scaring them off...LMAO stupid city people...lol
-
Well after getting gas earlier tonight the my 96 LE decided not to start. Everything works windows, radio, dash lights but when to turn key to start....NOTHING!!! Not even anynoise from the starter and does not turn over at all. I am quite a ways from home right now and starting ro freak just a little. I have gone thorugh all of the fuses and have turned up nothing. Im thinking starter solinoid. Am I right???

yea I like to see where I'm going... the gold lenses are on there own switch while the other 2 are on the factory fog light system. I took a old kicker switch out of a Chevy and wired the power in. one side is the bumper lights and the other is the pencil beam spots...
-
the sides are left open for right now gotta be on the road by Friday morning...
-
ready to hit the road....

used my cousin in laws shop and was his grinder... so I replaced it with like grinder... nearly finished with (soon to be new) IPF 868's mounted in the bumper(clear) and 968's mounted above centered a little on there own switch. the Hellas will be mounted next to the 968's on the high beam switch. 2nd coat of the trim clad rust paint is on and should dry by morning.
-
Yep that is true i can always add it later... well this will be the end result with the gold lenses on the IPF 968 on a separate switch...and Hellas on the high beam side of the fog light switch I made. first coat of paint
-
Was going to do a receiver mount style winch... but time constraints I chose not to worry about that right now... I do have to put in some tow mounts figured I drill holes for shackles and call it done... But this is my first real full fabrication of a bumper and the next one will be nicer...lol
-
got everything to light up YAY!!! was looking at the lights and how to set them up...what do ya guys/gals think?? the hella black magic for the high beam spots and the IPF 968 will have the gold tinted lenses put back in on it's own switch.. got some of the top skins on the bumper all that is left is to trim and weld the side prices at the tires and mount and wire up the other lights... only bad thing is I killed another grinder tonight.... these mastercraft grinders are real POS... on a very very tight budget so I may just wait till I get to where I'm going to finish the bumper... all the important parts are there... lights and turn signals...
-
Got the turn signal's put in...what a pain in the ass that was.
-
You got that right I pity the fool who steps/pulls out in front of me in the future...lol and she takes form... to take up the space between the steel and body I got a 3"wide by 1/4" thick flat steel... need to go to Canadian Tire and get some more grinding and cutting disks and paint.... plain black rustolium should do the trick.

Well it's been a while since I have updated here... 16" steel rims(from a half ton Chevy) 265/70/16 snow tires After hitting 2 deer out of about 15 that decided to cross the highway all at once.... shattered the plastic bumper, my newest set of IPF lights(868's) and the windshield washer liquid box( in need of one ASAP).... Now that the front end is badly hurt I decide to build a new one from steel laying around... 1/2" plate steel for mounting...elongated down frame for extra stability and strength... also with a plate bolted to the bottom of the radiator frame and then welded to the other mount plates. C-channel beam welded in place 7"x2"x3/8"...will have cut outs for a new set of IPF lights and turn signals with marker lights that I scanned from my old Nissan 720... this is the style I'm going for when finishes will look something similar to this.... I also believe he is a member here
-
Well I been a busy lil bee lately... more pix to come in my build thread for this truck...
-
found some steel C-channel 2"x6"x 3/8"(I think)...at the local dump about 16' long..also got some 3/8" plate .. so I'm gonna start the tear down and build this weekend....
-
I'm looking for a slimmer front end profile...and the versatility to be able to winch from front or rear....
-
I'm about to make a custom bumper for my R50...what would the thickness of steel on the main part of the bumper to keep strength but keep weight to a minimum? and also would you make the frame mounts thicker for support? ( my thinking is 3/8" thick C-channel for the main body of the bumper with 1/2" for the frame mounts and upper supports and a few gussets for strength) The primary service for this bumper will be a bullbar with a 2" receiver in it for a winch mounted on a plate so it can be used in the front or rear of the truck... thanx for your time...

You know what they say if your gonna hit something floor it and hang on.... Im just lucky that the BMW in the on coming lane didnt hit me he got the worse of it and ended up in the ditch.... I counted 12 deer in total that crossed and he got at least one of them... I just hope that ICBC are decent on claims as I have herd some horror stories...

I have 266/70/16 on my R50 and they are just fine....
