Simon...that is a very distinct possibility that the way the tires are worn is causing those to vibrate against the rotor/caliper....

Dunlop Mud Rovers....45,000 miles on them, and they're worn horribly. Feathered, cupped and torn to bits. I'm getting new tires in the next month or so and we'll see if that has any effect on it.

Addendum: I know that the LCA bushings are bad, but this doesn't sound like a noise that would be caused by that, due to the grindiness of the rattling, or the rattleness of the grinding? It's very difficult to differentiate whether it's a grinding or a rattling, because of the nature of the sound.

There is a HORRIBLE grinding noise coming from my front end between about 15-20mph. I have NO CLUE what is causing it. I originally thought it was the wheel bearings because they had 114k miles on them and were never repacked...YIKES! Replaced with brand new wheel bearings, noise still there. Then I went crazy and replaced EVERYTHING in the front end outside of the differential. The grinding is clearly coming from each side of the vehicle, close to the wheels. In my fit of frustration, I have replaced: - wheel bearings, races, seals - Brake rotors - Brake Pads - Calipers - Hubs - Warn Manual Hubs - Both CV Axles - Struts - Strut mounts, bearings, etc. This sound is a harmonic metallic rattling grinding sound. It only happens at these speeds and usually only when I'm decellerating slowly. If I'm decellerating quickly, or accellerating, the forces on the front end are different, and it doesn't make the noise. I'm STUMPED. :confused:

Headlights, like all bulbs, dim over time. They don't just suddenly go POOF. They decrease in performance, just like everything else with use. Don't buy bulbs from Walmart...do yourself a favor and get some good quality bulbs like Silvanias or Wagners from your local Checker or AutoZone.

Just have one of these badboys coiled up on the floor of your drivers seat whenever you leave the truck for an extended period....

Just pull off the splash guard, and its right there, right above the axle on the driver's side. Once you get the splash guard off, it's hard to miss.

I know this is the wrong forum...but in my R50, the drivers side door pull handle (interior) is the perfect size to slide a french fries bin in for a road trip.

I know Tyler just installed a set of RS5000s on his 98. I'll let him explain what he did. You absolutely do not want to have the side-to-side movement in there. That'll cause all kinds of headaches for you down the road.

I just replaced my factory rotors at 114k on my 99. They looked good, but needed to be turned and had already been turned twice. I don't like to turn rotors more than twice, and most places wont. It was actually cheaper to buy new rotors than to have the existing ones turned. And since I did the work myself, I saved even more money. I'm uploading the 2004 FSM as I post this, and I'll send you a link for the Brake Section via PM.

You have to remove the hub. The rotors are held in by 6 bolts on the back side of the hub. I'll see if I can't come up with PDFs for the procedure for you this morning.

I liked the silver rims....what did you do with them?

The earlier SEs had 265/70R15 on J15x7 aluminum alloy rims. The newer SEs equipped with J16x7 alloy rims come with 255/65R16 tires. No, those are not disc brakes on the rear of Dean's Pathy. He painted his drums silver. Correct, SOME XEs came with badging, it was dealer installed though on the XEs, if memory serves me correctly.

The positioning of the #6 plug isn't even really all that bad. Just try a 3.8FWD GM or one of the big V8 vans, or any number of cars. Especially transverse mounted V6s....guh, those are a PITA.
