when I opened up my wife's 04 SE, it wasn't obvious where the filters would go. then I saw the instructions that suggest cutting open the cooler unit. that's where I stopped and put everything back together. has anybody actually done this modification? the instructions are pretty vague and refer only to cutting out the shaded area.

etrailer.com for all your hitch needs. at least that's where I got our hidden hitch and the necessary connector hardware.

After I did my wife's, I had some pulsing and a little noise, but as I bed the brakes in, the problem resolved. I wonder if I had some bearing grease on the rotors by accident. It wasn't anything like you said though... -
We've got Revo's on my wife's 04 SE and they've started to cup a little after about 15K miles. I've rotated them religiously, kept up with alignments, and just recently installed new Rancho RSX struts/shocks. We'll see if the problem resolves.

US Patent describing technology in Rancho RSX shocks/struts

I guess I was too busy being impressed by the patent marking that I didn't notice the orientation marking right below it. -
US Patent describing technology in Rancho RSX shocks/struts

Yeah, I think the cheapest patent application I ever prepared for an individual client was still more than $5000. One thing I just learned reading the shock absorber patent is that it will only work if the shock is oriented correctly. I don't remember seeing any Up/Down markings on the shock body and it didn't come with any install instructions. So when did you leave Charlotte? -
Got my Rancho RSX shocks yesterday and as I pulled them out of the box, I noticed US Patent 5992585 stamped on the shock body. Being a patent attorney, I pulled the patent to see what it looked like. Thought I'd share it with you. I believe this technology is incorporated on the Monroe Reflex shocks/struts as well. Abstract A shock absorber has a base valve assembly which includes a compression valve assembly and an acceleration valve assembly. The compression valve assembly controls a fluid path through the base assembly to provide a firm damping characteristic for the shock absorber during low acceleration movement. The acceleration valve assembly controls a second fluid path through the base assembly to provide a soft damping characteristic for the shock when the shock absorber experiences acceleration beyond a specified amount. US Patent Number 5992585

Get ExtractNow from www.download.com As for the spindle nut tool, I can't give specific dimensions. I just know it's the one listed in most catalogs for Isuzu Rodeo/Honda Passport vehicles. Also, i know some have purchased the ford 4-prong spindle tool and ground down 2 of the prongs to make it a 2-prong tool. -

FWIW, on my wife's 04 SE, the cross bars do not come out by lifting them up after completely removing the knobs. The little threaded plates referred to above are retained in small slots within the cross bar end caps. These slots ride in the channels of the left and right longitudinal bars. So, I removed the rear end caps. These have plastic covers that snap off in an upward direction (away from the ground). Once the cover is off, you can access two torx screws. A third torx screw resides in the channel of the longitudinal bars where they meet the end cap. With all three torx screws out loose, the end cap separates from the roof and from the longitudinal bar. With both end caps off, the loosened cross bars slide out the back.

front wheel bearings by feel or special tools?
PathA4 replied to sigtauenus's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Here's that socket for $13 from summit racing. Summit Racing Link I had to grind the square pegs a tiny bit to fit flush in the round holes, but otherwise it's a perfect fit. -
So I noticed the Nero doesn't come in the OE 255/65-16 size. If you all are going with larger sizes, do you just deal with the wrong speedo readings. What sizes are you increasing to?

oh and btw, i installed a hidden hitch from e-trailer.com and really like the curved tubular look over some of the square right-angle uhaul trailers i've seen on several pathys. i purchased and installed the wiring harness from them too. they also sell transmission coolers too. take a glance when you have a chance.
