  1. You forgot the Vaseline didn't you?
  2. That's not a strut. That's a high-performance coil-over shock with McPherson style lower mounts. :contract:
  3. Quismo...were you born that stupid, or did you have to take lessons? Just kidding man, but I've been DYING to use that line on someone for like 3 days now... The front suspension on an R50 is a McPherson Strut, similar to what is found on most passenger cars. This design implements a McPhereson style strut shock-absorber, with a coil spring wound over it. The system is basically like this: The rear suspension on an R50 is a 5-link, coil-sprung, live-axle. The coil springs (proper term, usually just referred to as coils, or springs) are seated in a bucket on the axle, and an upper-spring-seat on the mono-frame. The shock-absorbers (aka: shocks) are mounted to the axle near the coil-spring-bucket, and to the monoframe. The system is similar in design to this: However, it has a link setup that is closer in design to this: Here's a good website that covers almost every kind of car suspension. What he referrs to as a "Dependent Suspension" is a live-axle.
  4. Does the 'wobbling' come through the steering wheel? Or does the vehicle seem to 'wag it's tail'? There are several possibilities for each. We'll start with the steering wheel: Out of balance wheel/tire. Out of round tire. Bent wheel. "Wags it's tail:" Bent suspension link. Worn out rear link bushings. Worn out Panhard Rod Bushings. I highly doubt that one of your wheels is bent. I managed to bend one of my aftermarket steel wheels, but only by slamming it down from about 6 feet in the air. They were super-cheap, knock-off rock crawler wheels. The stock wheels are easily as strong. More likely than not, you simply threw a weight.
  5. Just think of how bad it would have been if you didn't have the ARB!
  6. Well...if your VSS is bad, then your speedometer wont work properly.
  7. Check out the suspension section on www.4x4parts.com for the latest pricing. It is something you can do in your garage, however, I would have a professional assemble the struts. They're dangerous. I was installing a cup-kit on a BMW 3-series a couple years ago, the compressors let go and the coil shot through the 12" thick stucko garage wall...Now...imagine if someone had been standing there. That's a whole world of hurt.
  8. Lucky you.... So...for $200 you can convert the 31-spline ARBs to be compatible in a 33spline axle? That's cool if you can get a 31-spline ARB for less than $400. Otherwise it aint worth the effort.
  9. Or you could just throw a 31 spline rear end underneath there and use a Lock-right.
  10. I thought you were going to put them on your truck?
  11. Well...did you ask them very specific information about their products that could theoretically be used to duplicate the product? Such as the technical specifications for the OME coils?
  12. I emailed the folks at ARB/OME a few days ago, still waiting on a response.... And yes...I am up to something, but it will not be revealed until every facet of it is completed, including the patent.
  13. Yes...Nissan recommends 91+ for optimal performance.
  14. The systems changed quite a bit from year to year on the early R50s. Download the 98 FSM from the Phatg20 site - and it should be identical. The one I posted was from 1999, the one on Dean's site, I presume, is for a 1997.
  15. Your attached file isnt going to work.... Right Click - Save-as gives an html file....and clicking on it gives the typical forum Gibberish.
  16. Yup...or even Radio Shack. You can also buy inexpensive Digital Multimeters at places like Checker for about $20.
  17. Here's a capture from the FSM on the vac line routing. I'll take a picture of the actual setup when I get home.
  18. Kevs.... When you bought the OME suspension, did they provide you with any technical details about the coils? Spring-Rate, wire diameter, ID, OD, Coil Diameter, ETC? It looks great, and I have to agree with you on liking the truck-like ride of the lifted suspension over the way-too-soft stock suspension.
  19. Or, maybe...just maybe, they finally pulled the wool out of their eyes and realized that if you don't floor it off every red light and slam on the brakes, that you get considerably better gas mileage! And maybe....just maybe, with the gas prices being the way they are....people are doing whatever they can to have their fill-ups last a little bit longer.
  20. You're 9 and-a-half?? Wow, I figured you were older than that!
  21. BS!!! I always assumed you were younger! Like mid-late-20s!
  22. Nope...that would be a big Jack n Coke. -alcohol-
  23. Not with the stock wheels. You CAN fit them with aftermarket wheels that are backspaced to clear the strut.
  24. 3rd Post in this forum... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=10548
  25. They will NOT fit without a lift, unless you don't like your fenders/bumper. They'll rub like a SOB. They will NOT fit with stock wheels. The tire is too tall and will contact the strut.
