If it wasn't removed, it should be fine. Your problems are that the Camshafts and the Crankshaft are out of sync. You need to set the crankshaft so that the #1 cylinder is at TDC. You can pull the spark plug and shine a flashlight down to see when it reaches TDC.

Did you set everything back to TDC before you put the new belt on? Maybe since stuff moved around, the distrubutor is out of position?

Yeah, I haven't even seen him online in about a week, so hopefully everything is going OK. He's going through a pretty rough divorce, so I'm sure he's pretty burnt out on a lot of stuff. Total fuel capacity is 21.4 gallons. The gauges are a little fuzzy in these....sometimes mine will read on E and only take 14, but sometimes it'll take nearly 16 when it reads 1/4 tank. I go by my odometer.

You're not supposed to use 4WD in the wet. That is not considered a low-traction situation.

Probably your technique. Have you driven manual transmission vehicles reguarly before? M/Ts are not as smooth as automatics, but they're a lot more fun. Once you get more used to it, you'll get better at driving it.

The early years will work just fine. Transmission is the same.

What I've used in the past is a spray on white Lithium grease. I used it to lubricate the tracks inside of the door, and it made the windows go up and down faster and quieter. It's also good for curing squeaky hinges in your doors. To apply to the window tracks, you have to remove the door panel. Then cut or move the plastic sheeting that sits behind the panel so you can have access to the tracks. Spray on sparingly and cycle the window a couple of times. Repeat this a few times until there's an even coat of lubricant on the tracks. Inside of the door panel, the white lithium grease will last about a year to 14 months, unless you have rust holes that allow the door to fill up with dirt, grime and moisture. Edit: This actually reminds me that I'm going to have to do this on my Pathy soon. My passenger window is getting a little slow.
