  1. 100% possible and it's probably your issue. Replace it and the harness, bet it'll run great. It's a very common problem with pre-90 VGs and should be replaced with the timing belt I think. I've had so many issues with these sensors so that's what I'll be doing from now on.
  2. I'm sure it will... but it's probably not going to do any good if the input shaft seal is tattered (PITA to get) along with the splines.
  3. Stuck huh... did you force the engine to mate with the transmission at all? Coulda bound it up in there if the splines weren't seated correctly and it was forced into place, got stuck, and the only way for something to give was the input shaft detaching from the transmission. From the pic it looks like the shaft isn't even centered in the torque converter. Looks like a pretty good oops! I'd be looking for a new input shaft and torque converter.
  4. I've been almost stranded tons of times because my Schmucks lifetime starter started to fail on my Datsun. Enough hammering got it to turn over, but there will be a point where it will stop working. Every time it was tested at the store it passed and they almost didn't give me a new one. That didn't go over well with me...
  5. Hold on a second. The CLSD in a Z31 was offered from 4/'87-'89 TURBO cars only! Never NA, and not before 4/'87. And because of that they are worth a mint, bout $500-800 from a seller that knows what they have. VLSD is garbage. Being an R200 it'll swap right in to the Pathfinder carrier. Here's a copy from part of a local Craigslist ad
  6. An O2 sensor will do that, you can watch the ECU switch between lean and rich with a scanner. So will a funky Coolant Temp Sensor. I remember you asking me about it but don't remember what came of it.
  7. If the crank pulley is installed incorrectly you'll never get the engine timed right.
  8. Because there's 3 pages of speculation on the sound. It was 12:30, timezones...
  9. Very nice. If you want to keep it automatic it'll need a newer RE4 from a supercharged Xterra or Frontier. They will handle the power and not grenade like the one that's in there now will.
  10. Probably a stuck lifter. Had the same issue with mine and a half a quart of ATF cleared it up pretty quick the first time. It came back a week later so I put more in and it's been quiet since. As for not revving, sounds like a MAF problem.
  11. Only reason for a belt to skip a tooth is if the tensioner broke or the belt is so old it's way stretched. Run a compression test on it or set the engine at TDC and see where the rotor in the distributor is pointing. If everything is good it should be pointing directly left if you're facing the engine. A bad MAF can cause backfiring through the intake as well as it somewhat control timing, not often though. If the distributor was in backwards the engine would not even turn over with the starter. Chevys and Fords yeah, these no.
  12. Adjusting the distributor sets the base timing on an MPFI truck, the ECU controls the actual curve. On a TBI truck adjusting the distributor changes both the base timing and the curve. This can be verified with a timing light..
  13. Should be fine since it wasn't ran very long.
  14. All of the Nissan dealers in my area did NOT carry any exhaust gaskets. Pretty fskced up huh?
  15. Are you 100% sure your distributor is in correctly?
  16. Had to go to a few independent shops to find exhaust gaskets for a Pathfinder I did a tranny swap in as well. Pain in the ass.
  17. The one in the intake is for the gauge. Easiest way to get the one in the block out is to remove the upper timing belt cover and bend the inner cover out until you can get to the sensor. Then break the plastic clip off and get a socket in there to get it out, thread the new one in by hand and tighten it down a little with some pliers being careful not to break it. Bend the cover back and put the other cover on. When you replace the sensor it's a good idea to replace the harness too as a lot of times that's what causes most of the issues.
  18. If I remember right, yeah. Pretty sure that's what my code was on my '87 for the sensor.

    LED's

My 300 had that as well, was nice. There's a lot Nissan didn't put in Pathfinders that they used on other cars.

Yes you can, seen it a few times.
  21. The stance is fine, looks pretty good actually. The tail light covers though...
  22. They are internally regulated, sounds like that's bad. Get another alternator lol.
