This topic has come up before, but there was never an answer, so maybe someone knows by now. I'm installing some driving lights on my 01 Pathfinder on the grillguard and trying to find out what wire I need to tap to get power to my switch with the parking lights on. Does anyone know what color wire and where to find it? It sure was fun getting the power wire from the relay into the cabin last night! I finally got the little rubber boot off that seals the firewall where the wires all go out, only to find it impossible to get back in there. Not to mention cutting my hands up on the zip tie things they use to hold all the wiring together inside the cabin. :X How did you get that boot back on? Final question is if I should keep the fuse going from the positive post on the battery to the new relay? If I don't have a fuse there I'm guessing the relay would then be the first to go?

I've been using Firefox most of the time. Its nice not to have all those popups!

2001 with 54,000 miles: No lift yet Stock Wheels I bought this because the little things that kept going wrong with my 94 were getting old and I wanted something with less problems. So far it has proven to have been a good decision.

Seat belts don't want to go back
abomb1 replied to Adelard of Bath's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Iv'e read a few posts on other boards that it's a recall....I haven't asked yet up here but as abomb1 said, I believe most people have them replaced for free. I think an oldy like my '90 they would say no...? So I just continually slam them in the door. I think its more of a federally regulated issue than a factory warranty deal. Seatbelts should never fail, so I would try for the free replacement no matter what year your vehicle is. -
There was a deflector on mine when I bought it, but I took it off, not sure if I liked the way it looked. Also, it seemed to come in contact with the hood in a couple places, so I don't know if it actually damaged the hood more than protected it. I have a picture on my cardomain site when mine was at the dealership, but its really hard to tell there is a deflector on there.

Seat belts don't want to go back
abomb1 replied to Adelard of Bath's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
Just bring it to a Nissan dealership and they'll replace them for free! I had the same thing going on with my 94 and read on one of the boards about the lifetime warranty on seatbelts. The dealer replaced them as soon as they could order them, no questions asked. That was just earlier this summer. -
Did they make R50's with disc brakes?

Got some pics tonight of the brushguard on my Pathy.
-
Wow, that WAS bad!! I bet you feel a lot more comfortable driving the Pathy now after getting a solid frame under you!
-
Yeah, I would never have guessed you hit a deer with this thing. Nothing is bent and everything lined up perfectly when I installed it today. I'll post some pics as soon as I can get them. Thanks again dieselmunk!

Do you have to remove your towhooks to mount the Manik brushguard? I just got mine today, but it looks like the lower mounts take the place of the towhooks.

I saw this posted on another board too, but just ordered now. Can't believe I saved $65 on an $85 strap (although they probably don't really sell for the full $85 usually). Thanks for the reminder mz!

All Pathfinders from 1996 on have been unibody construction, meaning there isn't a separate frame and body. It is all one piece like most cars and Jeep Cherokees and many other SUV's today. The H233B I believe is the name of the axle, but I'm not up on what that means. ARB is a brand of locker for the differential.

Thanks for all the advice! Last night I picked up my 01 Pathfinder and I am VERY happy! It is the manual transmission SE with the 3.5L engine, so I have 250hp. I also noticed last night that it does have the LSD in the rear axle. The ride is much better and quieter, and there is more leg room for my daughter to sit behind my seat when I'm driving. It was kind of sad last night when I left the old one at the dealership after I had done so much to it (repairs, repairs, repairs). My new vehicle has 100,000 less miles and 100 more horsepower, so I have nothing to complain about here! I have been watching this Pathfinder for the last couple of months sitting at the dealership waiting for the price to drop lower and lower. Because it is a manual transmission there aren't as many people interested in it. To me its a bonus since it is more fun to drive and gets an extra 10hp over the automatic transmission. I look forward to learning more about my new Pathfinder from all of you who own them. Thanks again for the advice! My 01 Pathfinder

I'm seriously considering trading my 94 Pathfinder for a 2001. Doing this will give me much more power, fewer miles, less interior noise, and maybe a little more room than my current Pathfinder. I know I'll be giving up some offroad use by going to a stock R50 from my lifted 94, but as much as I go offroad I don't know if its worth keeping the 94. The repairs have really added up on my 94 which always keeps me wondering what's next. So the one I'm looking at is a 2001 manual transmission SE with 50,000 miles. Are there any things I should be looking for or any major repairs needed soon on this vehicle? For those who have moved to a newer Pathfinder from the older body style, do you ever regret making the switch? That's the biggest concern of mine right now.

Nope! ODB = Ol' Dirty Bastard OBD = On Board Diagnostics

Thanks! I'll try that first.

After searching on my problem, it looks like most of the doorlock issues are about the locks locking or unlocking on their own. Today I came across a different type of problem. When I hit the lock button on my key fob, it makes the noise it would make when there was a door open or something in the past, and the locks do not lock. I went around to all the doors and made sure they were all shut tight and tried it again with the same result. For some reason, my keyfob won't lock or unlock the doors any more, it just makes the alarm sound of a door being open when I try to lock them. I know that in the past, even if there was a door open when I hit the lock button, that the doors still locked, so that should rule out the possibility of a bad switch in a door. I can use my power locks button on the door and that works fine. Any ideas?

Are you sure you didn't spill any oil on something that gets hot? I hope my problem is solved by changing the differential oil. I can't imagine my clutch would smell like that so fast. I couldn't have switched between forward and reverse more than 2 times before I smelled it. Also, I've never noticed the smell when in 2WD. If it is the clutch, then I don't see how anyone could offroad with a manual transmission. Thanks for the advice though, I'll reply here after changing the differential oil if that helps or not.

I've only noticed this smell when I'm in 4wd and trying to get out of something or whatever reason I am going between forward and reverse. Mostly notice it in reverse I think. I have recently changed the transfer case oil, but haven't done the differentials. Could that be the problem? I haven't looked too hard at how to add oil to the front differential, but the rear looks easy enough and I have seen the drain plug for the front. Where do I find the filler plug for the front and what's the best way to get to it? Thanks for the help!

That is different than either of the pictures they show on AC's site. I was trying to figure out how yours mounted on the top and the front but was not the baja bumper. Pictures definitely explain a lot. Looks great!

I had the same kind of symptoms 94 Pathy is describing, garage smells like gas, and the skidplate is wet in only one area, but not enough to leak down to the floor. I figured out it was one of the little dimple looking spots straight underneath where the fuel sending unit sits in the tank. It was a very slow leak, so I tried one of those TEMPORARY gas tank repair kits. If by temporary they are talking 10 - 20 seconds, they work great, but otherwise I suggest getting a new tank. My next decision was to get a tank from a junkyard as long as it looked in decent shape inside. $60 later and a lot of screwing around under the Pathfinder in an unheated garage and below zero temperatures I had the new tank installed. The leak was gone but now I couldn't pump gas into the tank any faster than about 10 minutes per time. I finally decided to give up and just bring it to Nissan service and find out what was going on. They said some rust had gotten into the fuel sending unit from this "new" tank and was clogging the unit. The fix would require a new tank (guaranteed there is no rust in them) and a new sending unit as this could not be cleaned out. If I ever have a problem like this again I will just buy the new tank in the first place and save a lot of money, headaches and wasted time. Good luck with your repair, let us know what you find!

That's exactly what it is. The two outer mounts bolt to the top of the bumper instead of straight across the front of the bumper like the two inside mounts. On AC's site, that is considered the Baja, while the one that bolts on straight across the front just says prerunner. I like them both though, so I just ordered what they had in stock.

Yeah, lets see some pics! I would like to do this sometime. Where did you get the block?

Just finished wiring lights to my bar over the weekend, pics are HERE!
