What size rims do I need for 33" to fit with SFD
tekazgtr1984 replied to Thunderbolt's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
So 4.00" BS is good? I'm looking at wheels right now, 15x10 with 4" BS. -
Guaranteed those coils will be for the WD21 model. If you're planning on running subframe spacers upfront, you're going to have to look into F250 coils or Jeep coils (not sure what model, though). I've been researching which coils work best but so far what I've found is pretty much preliminary.
-
Good thread. The rear set-up has been subject to some discussion, namely with the coil spacers and rake issue. I've been exploring some options regarding the rear in the hopes to avoid both issues. All I can say is it won't be F250 coils... I'll keep everyone up-to-date on my ideas.

how much for auto transmission / transfer case replacement

Throw in a 5-speed!! -
It'll suit your QX4 a million times better than the lousy, bro'd out Escalade in that pic... yikes. But yes, I say go for it!
-
C'mon guys... That's just ridiculous. There's no need to resort to one-upping each other and acting like little kids. Smarten up. Why is it the R50 section is always so rife with tribulation?

Those BlackRock wheels are so badass. And they are alloy, too. Much lighter than steelies!

Is it worth putting money into her?
tekazgtr1984 replied to RonNC's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Just spend the money and put it into the R50. You won't regret it. -
Eh, I'd rather a short-body Samurai to trailer around.
-
Damn straight I would. That would be my weekend wheeler, considering how much cheaper it is to maintain a Jeep. Not to mention it's OEM-equipped with a SFA. Honestly, though, I'd rather have $2K to throw at the Pathy.

R50/Terrano Projector Headlight
tekazgtr1984 replied to dududuckling's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
That sounds about right. My guess is the Xenon HID lamp more or less serves as a running light/headlight (the 4-way setting switch seems to indicate as much) while the Halogen lamp serves as a hi-beam (probably works great on the trails, too). -
Those look like pretty solid tires. I've heard a lot of good regarding Nokian rubber. And I hear the pricing is quite reasonable, too.
-
Any time you hear the words "tire company" and "class-action lawsuit" in the same sentence, stay away IMO. I'd rather spend a little extra and not risk dying, but that's just me.

Because it's not a Chrysler-built Jeep.

R50/Terrano Projector Headlight
tekazgtr1984 replied to dududuckling's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Thanks for clearing that up. So both generations of the JDM R50 Terrano are equipped with a Xenon HID lamp as well as a Halogen lamp. Very cool... -
Perhaps a manual transmission is a better option for this engine swap? I'm thinking this will avoid having to figure out the automatic transmission gear ratios when the RE4R01A is mated to a QD32ETI. Sourcing a manual transmission locally will also help save on cost. Rather than source the engine w/ transmission, sourcing just the engine would help on shipping. And a manual transmission mated to a turbo diesel would be sweet!

Tomato, tomahto... Meh. -
Both front and rear shafts should have grease nipples. I've greased both twice now (once when I bought it, and again this spring) and haven't noticed a difference. I am debating installing new u-joints with grease nipples, though...

Who wants a set of aftermarket suspension links?

Sick! Awesome work, Tyler!! Definitely interested. Any word on a panhard jog for us with plans to do more than 2" of lift? -

Even with the exchange rate, shipping and insurance would be up there anyway... So these projector headlights are Xenon, not HID. That means both generation R50 Terrano are equipped with Xenon projectors... My apologies for the misinformation. -

You'll have to show me this hydraulic trunk opener for your E38. I'm very interested... Oops, thread-jacked and totally off topic... And yes, we got so hosed... so much sh*t offered by Nissan for its domestic market; the rest of the world only got about 25% of the good stuff, if that. -

I'm pretty sure all R50s from '98-up were equipped with the fuse box which contains separate L&R slots. I know mine's got 'em, as well as the slots to fit the HID hardware along the cross member which runs parallel with the radiator. Shown here: As for the plug and play, not a clue. My guess is not, at least as far as I know with the first gen HIDs. The HID itself can be adjusted 4 ways, to increase/decrease light dispersion. Here's the switch which adjusts the HID (notice settings 0-3), along with sweet rear glass hatch open switch: All in all, very cool stuff. Maybe my federal gov't salary will help me obtain these... -

That's pretty decent. Remember to factor in shipping, though. I'm pretty sure insurance would also be wise. And yes, the '01-'04 QX4 headlights are outrageous. And I just noticed on that site... They don't carry the first gen R50 HIDs!! Fail. -

In any case, my fellow enthusiasts, JDM-only gear for the R50 is badass and plentiful. There are a ton of cool options for both generations of the R50 Terrano which were never sold outside of Japan. A shame really... The HID/projector headlights for both generations are truly amazing, and at the time used the most advanced technology Hitachi had to offer. Aesthetic opinion aside, these headlights offer greater versality (i.e., adjustable beam hardware), longer life and improved light dispersion than what was offered elsewhere across the globe. These headlights are the best option for the R50, hands down. I would love to get my hands on a set for my '98 because of what these headlights have to offer; cost is the killer, though. Aside from the whole money factor, I'm sold on these.
