  1. Rancho blows IMO. I'd say for about the same price, go with the Bilstein 5150s.
  2. I've used 4HI on pavement but it was during a rather heavy snowfall. I felt a little more comfortable using 4HI than just sticking to RWD. Is that not a good idea?
  3. Good idea, B! Also, that looks like a pretty solid R50. Love the colour. As for issues, you listed the most common ones. Check into the gas filler tube recall for sure. As for others, I'd definitely suggest upgrading the front struts (KYB takes the cake IMO). Check the O2 sensors (prone to failure), front sway bar links, bushings in the rear (control arms, sway bar), and steering rack bushings. If anything else comes to mind, I'll post it for you. Cheers!
  4. I might be interested in a set of HD front coils but it really depends on the discount plus shipping up here to Canada.
  5. That looks just wicked! Awesome job! Thanks for the pics!
  6. Fantastic work, Cyril! If only I were closer to you... I want some, too!
  7. No worries! That's why we have NPORA, after all. You should be able to clear ~32" tires on just 50mm (2") lift coils. Keep in mind you will have rubbing up front at full lock while turning. Back to the thread, I think a 15x8 wheel should do 33x12.5 tires just fine. The biggest issue in going with a wider wheel is having adequate backspace to clear the struts.
  8. Oh definitely. The only dilemma in going with larger tires than ~32" usually means having to look into a subframe drop. Luckily, with that in mind, it makes it possible to go up to 35" tires and still adequate fender clearance.
  9. I still say Dan had the best idea by running a D22 snorkel. It looked damn good IMO and required no cutting into the subframe like the R50 snorkel.
  10. I think with the way your suspension is set up (i.e., lift coils and front leveling spacers), 265/75 tires should be fine. I have yet to install spacers and even when I was running the stock front bumper with 265/75 Toyo A/Ts, I only experienced rubbing in the front at full lock. In your case, I doubt you'll have any problems. The real challenge for us unibody R50 owners is getting to fit anything greater than a ~32" tire on just coils and spacers.
  11. Awesome work! Major kudos for doing all the research; you've clearly invested a hefty chunk of time (and $$ I would imagine) into this project. Well done!
  12. Could it be the filler tube? I know there is a recall on these on the early R50 models...
  13. Not sure about that... Depends on how your account is set up. I got uber lucky in obtaining my TJM. Dan (aka vengeful on here) put his up for sale and I happened to be the highest bidder.
  14. First off, welcome to the forum! I think you'll enjoy being a Pathfinder owner. I know I do. As for your questions, here's my take: 1) I'm not sure if the unit can be moved as it depends on where it is situated in relation to the moving parts of the climate control unit, i.e., fan speed control, temperature control, flow direction, etc. My knowledge of the digital unit is limited (I have been tinkering with idea of installing it in my '98) but if the control unit is wired to a main unit by wires, then I would think relocation to be quite easy. 2) I don't know anything about HAM radios but I'd say go with Pezzy and search CB radios. I think you'll find useful information. 3) Aftermarket bumpers can be hard to find. KMA is a decent custom option but for more money, I'd say you'd be happy with an ARB. On the later R50 models (2000-2004) this option is hands down the best one out there. 4) For that OME set-up, you don't necessarily need leveling spacers. Actually, depending on how the coils settle, it may level out perfectly anyway. To that end, I'd say wait around, put some mileage on those coils, and go from there. As for shocks, I think Rancho is crap. Same goes with Pro Comp. Seems like a good deal until something breaks. For a little more money, Bilstein is a good choice, namely the 5100 series. I'm currently equipped with the 5150s and they have proven impressive thus far. OME also offers a great rear shock but I'm not sure of the pricing. Any more q's, post 'em! We're all here to help.
  15. Yeah, especially since installing the TJM bumper (~100 lbs.), the coils up front have settled a bit more. Even with the stock bumper, from the side view there was noticeable rake. The pic I posted is taken from the ideal angle to really minimize just how noticeable it is. I don't know if there's a difference between the OME or AC coils in terms of rake... I'm installing spacers primarily for that reason. Another reason is to give the tires a little more room in the fenders.
  16. Hell yeah. Happy to see another SFD build in the works! Keep up the good work! And keep those pics comin'!
  17. I considered both the OME 1.75" and the AC 2" lift 2 years ago and almost by flip of the coin went with AC. I think the OME looks great. I've been considering installing coils spacers up front to get rid of the rake in mine also. Would you mind posting once installed? What brand did you go with? NX4 or Mr Gasket? There is a serious price difference in the two... Thanks! They are custom fabricated spacers made from 1" billet steel. I will definitely post pics once installed.
  18. Looks great! I've also got the OME HD coils installed all-around and the total lift is definitely more than .5" (then again I'm also running 265/75R16 A/Ts)... I'm also installing 1" leveling spacers next week (rather, when they arrive) so that should mild up the rake pretty well.
  19. Yeah, my '98 doesn't have the mirror stuck to the windshield. I don't think any R50 Pathfinders have that set-up; it's attached to the overhead console.
  20. I don't plan on running M/Ts at high PSI so I'm sure a 15x8 wheel should be alright. Moreover, I want to make sure I can clear the struts up front so I hope this set-up is suitable for me.
  21. Thanks for the info, guys! This won't be on 2" lift coils; this is my planned tire/wheel set-up post-SFD (not sure when that'll happen, though), that is to say 4" SFD with 1.5" OME HD coils in the front a top-secret rear-end (which is in the works). For the moment, 32" Toyo A/Ts do just fine. I just wanted to be sure because I was told mounting a 33x12.5 tire on a 8" wide wheel wasn't a good idea... WTF?
  22. Exploring options for bigger tires, 99.9% sure I'll be going with Toyo Open Country M/T. I'm looking at wheels and came across a sweet set of 15x8 w/3.75BS alloys. Would it be alright to run 33x12.5 tires on 15x8 wheels?
  23. I second that, Dean! I've been running 265/75R16 Toyo A/Ts on 16x8 AR767 wheels for about a year now and haven't had any problems save for rubbing at full lock.
