  1. New tires will always solve your issue. For about 100 miles. If your tires are cupped, they don't do it on their own. The guy's blowing smoke up your ass. My guess would be bushings and perhaps tie rods. Yes, get an your sh*t aligned after the work is performed, but don't let someone talk you into new tires like it's gonna fix the world...it won't.
  2. Like was said before, throttle body spacers only work (mildly, at best) on carbs, very little on TBI...utterly useless on EFI. Only reason I would consider the plugs is because I've personally seen dyno sheets of a Z06 Vette that showed a decent increase in torque with the plugs installed..hadn't heard about them burning out, though. That's crap. The theory behind them, for those of you reading who don't know, is they produce crazy power through a series of internal transformers and, when the plug sparks, it's not so much a spark as a small orb of power that encompasses the entire combustion chamber, rather than igniting a small amount of fuel/air, and allowing the mixture to burn the rest...but in reality, you have to wonder...pulling down 2500 rpm, that mixture is in and out of the cylinder so fast, what difference will a few miliseconds make? The theory sounds good, that upon complete combustion of the fuel/air mix, you are producing maximum torque on the crankshaft at that exact moment, instead of it building on downstroke...But I have my serious doubts...In all reality, at this point, I want to be happy with the Pathfinder as is until I make my kit, just for S&G's...but when it comes down to it....why not just build a truggy or sandrail and trailer it to the mountains/desert...way cheaper in the long run and you can still drive your properly operating vehicle to and from work to pay for your new habit. That's why I ride dirtbikes...so I don't have to trash the Pathy in the sand....granted, I still do, but....that's my own fault.
  3. I'm planning on purchasing/installing a set of Pulstar pulse plugs....150 bucks for all 6...but, if they make the gains they claim, it will be worth it. And if they don't....there's always that money back guarantee....Ship 'em back, make a fuss, get my money back. Dyno before and after, of course....just trying to decide when I want to throw away a couple hundred bucks.
  4. Now imagine having to hold a 20 pound steel skid up to bolt back in instead of that plastic crap...makes for fun oil changes.
  5. The snappy sound is because there is no load on the engine and in park...under power, it sounds pretty good..nice and throaty. At the same time, I installed a FM Super 44 on my wife's Tacoma, and, though quieter with the full exhaust, still has the same obnoxious tone to it - again because of the overhead cam...just doesn't give the exhaust system a chance to sound like it's got balls.
  6. Well it was also taken with a digital camera...mic isn't the best on it...But yes, the sound leaves something to be desired...but can't exactly get the note of a SBC with Cherry Bombs out of an overhead cam engine...suits me fine, but to each his own...
  7. Just dumps straight...I didn't notice any decrease in torque...still pulls like it always did...throttle response is much better....

  9. Working on it...people with dialup don't view this...file is huge.
  10. Yeah pretty much...you can find the Flowmasters with 2-1....dunno if they make 2-2...My wife bought mine for Christmas last year as a 1-1, so I had the shop put on a Y pip to pull the 2 pipes into 1 and that 1 into the muffler..no extension or tip...just dumping straight out...which I need to fix...it sounds awesome, but it's a worry when you have to back out of water/mud....quick way to rust out the muffler...just gonna get some flexy pipe and run it in an upside down U...basically the same theory as the drain trap in a sink, only reversed.
  11. Hack off the 2-1 muffler and have a shop weld in a Flowmaster. Sounds awesome, breathes easier, (it's under 100 bucks, depending on where you get the muffler/work) and there really aren't any kits that I've found.
  12. I haven't heard someone refer to it as "rootin'" since I left Florida...Out here it's mudding 'cause that's all there is to do..nothing technical. So Cal, we refered to it as it was technical. Wheeling would consist of fire roads, light rock patches and hills...Technical rock stuff was crawling, desert was dune running or just plain getting stuck...lol.
  13. Exactly the reasons I took mine off...I hacked the exhaust off, too, 'cause that was the first thing to get caught up when coming down off rocks...and the mudflaps, because I was always hanging them up on the smallest stuff...spare tire went to the roof, 'cause I hit that a couple times....but the exhaust, for sure is a nice thing to tuck back under...I started with the rear (muffler? resonator? I dunno....) and eventually just hacked it all off and installed a Flowmaster 40. Sounds good and doesn't get hung up. I really had no choice though, 'cause I squished the tailpipe on a granite slab...
  14. No kidding.. Where'd you go in SD to find snow? High desert? Only place I ever saw it in my 3+ years there...but man, it was sweet..fresh, unmarked power all over the sand...made for beautiful dirt bike riding..until my father-in-law buried his in a snowbank, thinking it was a berm...LOL. 20 minutes and 3 burns later, we were on our way.
  15. Good point...I forgot about that...2 are out of reach without a long extension and the other 4 (2 on each side) are easily accessible. Watch your eyes when you drop it 'cause they tend to hide alot of crud...
  16. Ok ok, no need to get butt hurt...if you take it to a shop to have the oil changed, check the bolts before and after they do it...shops are notorious for "losing" them...in reality, they're just lazy and put fewer and fewer back in over time. In all reality, though, most people don't usually ask questions before they tackle something here...More often than not, the "F*ck me sideways, I need help" threads are because people like me tear something apart to fix/modify something, and then get over our heads and have to seek the knowledge of others on the board....like half the people on NICO that now have sh*tty running R50's 'cause they don't have the special tool to change all the plugs..(which reminds me, fukinitupagain, I don't have one...think when we meet up for a wheelin' day I can borrow yours and mail it back to ya? Coming up on 70k and want to swap 'em out)...
  17. Yeah the stocker is junk..that's why I gave mine to fueler...lol Removal takes 5 minutes, maybe...6 bolts (I think....) and it drops right down. Oil filter is right there, complete with a handy little splash guard/oil slide that will shoot your oil out at an unpredicted angle, usually on yourself. If you're gonna be bashing on rocks, I suggest getting the steel skid plate, at least...I've tossed the front up and over some nice jagged rocks and had no worries...that was the biggest thing when I was wheeling stock before...sending a nice granite slab through my oil pan...
  18. Not to bring back an old, dead thread, but...what happened with "brenspath" and his supposed 5" lift package? Fall along the wayside?
  19. That sounds freakin sweet...I have thought about a relocation kit every single time I've changed my oil (even more-so after I installed the skid), but forgot about it every time I finished up...let us know how she comes out! I'd love to not have to drop that skidplate every time....
  20. Plus it gives the added benefit of roll-over protection! lol..
  21. A word is what you make it...so yeah, I guess it would be. You're just not happy with your rig until it sort of resembles an R50, are you? The fenders I have planned shouldn't come down much at all...pry end about 5" shy of where they drop to right now.
  22. California is, I know that much....here in North Cakalaki, no one really gives a sh*t. Not uncommon to see guys running with an easy 8" of tire pouring out of the fender well...but...Cali, you'll get a ticket with no mudflaps...so fender flares are definately in order if you're residing there. 'Course, I hacked off my muds while still living in Cali and never got a ticket, but....people knew me. lol
  23. That's actually exactly the route I am going when I finally get all my stuff together for my lift (btw, fukinitupagain...I'm going a different route..should be sick...or I might just f*ck up my whole rig, but it'll be one-of-a-kind)...eliminate the quarter panels up front, do fiberglass fenders...won't subtract from the structural rigidity of the body, since the subframe is there and will look freaking awesome. I don't know that I would suggest it to anyone who hasn't done alot of fiberglass work, though...I wouldn't even attempt it if it weren't for any experience making stuff with fiberglass.
  24. That's actually not bad for a 44/60 combo...especially since they've got what sounds like a decent set of gears in them...usually when someone upgrades the gears, they'll throw a locker in, too, so you might get away with that...You don't really need a 60 on an R50, though....unless you intend on jumping it like 40 feet, then, yeah, the stronger the better...in all reality, running 33's, you could get away with a D30/35 and you wouldn't break it unless you went crazy...I'd go 44's, personally.
