  1. around 500 including everything transmission related. I got the trans/transfer case + accessories for about 250, the clutch kit and resurfacing was about 180, fluids/seals/miscellaneous other pieces were the rest.
  2. what do you mean? as in labor? Hey thanks! I have plenty of other things to complain about every other day haha. Its cool having the MT in there, but its still a bit weird after knowing it as an auto for 10 years. lol
  3. for just the MT swap about 500 bucks.
  4. It is FINISHED. I actually got it done the other day, but wanted to test drive her a few times in case something went wrong and I had to do it all over again. Nothing did though, and I now have a 5 speed! Redline MT90 in both transfer case and tranny. Shifts great even though I'm not very good at driving a stick yet. While I was in there I ended up replacing 4 of my lifters on the passenger side - which completely got rid of my lifter tick, I replaced all the screws for the head covers with bolts, replaced the leaking bypass hose - which has completely solved my overheating issue, and did the mean grean alt install, and mounted the taurus fan properly (no more plastic mount things). Just a couple of loose ends left to tie off: need some new breather hose for the tranny as the old one cracked apart, need to mount the clutch floor stop bracket so I dont push it all the way to the firewall when shifting, then need to run the interlock lines to a switch on this JIC someone were to try to start the truck without depressing the clutch (might run a kill switch on the dash too), and need to replace the BRAND NEW clutch slave cylinder as the bleed screw broke off when I tried to tighten it. Oh, and of course re-do the UCA's (again...will be my 3rd time changing them haha) and get an alignment. I couldn't have done it without all you guys. Special thanks go out to Sammyb33, unccpathfinder, and especially KovemaN who helped me pull the JY tranny and the dead auto tranny. Write up with pics soon to come.
  5. Its the camber that needs adjusting. The wheels look like this / \ . For now I'm going to relax the torsion bars and drop it down a bit.
  6. yeah the last place i took it to used all kinds of shims. They also told me that I needed to change back to stock UCA's because the ones I had were "not as strong".... In regards to the alignment, I have decided to replace the Rancho UCAs with the Rough Country UCAs I have. The Rancho's were designed for only a 2" lift so I'm pretty sure thats why they are giving me problems.
  7. Bout 10 or 11 years now. My dad bought it my last year of grade school and gave it to me when I graduated highschool (only because he bought a new car though) I hated it at first because I wanted to buy myself a motorbike, but he refused to cosign a loan. After a few years it grew on me (or maybe we grew on each other), and I can't imagine being without it now. I ended up getting a motorbike anyways on my own credit, so in retrospect it was a good thing that my dad gave it to me.
  8. ok so lowering the tbars will push the top camber "out" correct?
  9. nope, nothing bent. and it aligned just fine before. the shop did seem to have a problem converting from standard to metric....the only thing I can think of is that they read 2.5cm as 2.5 inches. Maybe I will try Nissan, even though I don't really like the dealership at all.
  10. Took the truck for an alignment today after getting it running etc. Techs said they couldn't do it as it required 2.5 INCHES of shims between the A-arm and frame. That is a whole lot of shims. Does that even seem possible that it would require that?
  11. same with the autos. cept the metal auto trans lines make that space even smaller. after doing it a few times the 5 speed seems sooooo much easier.
  12. yes, they are a pain to get out - especially on an auto. i think there is a starter rebuild thread in the how-to section also.
  13. I play VERY badly. I just don't practice enough really, and my brother got the musical talent anyways. Electrics: Fender Telecaster Squire Stinger Stratocaster Style - Made by Martin Stinger Les Paul Style PRS Santana Edition Acoustics: Fender 12 String Some off brand 6 string dreadnought (sounds great though) Martin travel guitar
  14. you could try taking it out and hitting it with a ton of electrical cleaner. i think the autozone ones have limited lifetime warranties, but you would have to check on that.
  15. I'm just glad it didnt hit the wall of the garage.
  16. wow, 70mph? thats crazy. I got some air from a dirt bike jump once at about 15 mph and it destroyed my balljoints. cant imagine the damage from multiple jumps like yours. the suspension/steering must be mutilated
  17. yep, lol. It had a slight balance problem......good thing the wheels were already on. hehe
  18. yeah, I thought about that. Pick-a-part is just too far to justify going down there for some nuts. the regular grade 8 nuts worked just fine though. even when I dropped the front end by accident....
  19. that is a good idea....too bad I already put the bolts in etc. will remember that for the next time I mess with the suspension. (with my luck that will be soon, haha)
  20. i dont remember the length etc either. its somewhere in my truck-notes, hehe. I ended up getting locking header bolts (have an alan head locking mechanism in them). Ordered from Jegs, they were the same size as some chevy engine head bolts. Were about 60 bucks for the set. Somehow they sent me 2 pairs, have to see where i put the other one and I'll put up the pertinant info.
  21. cool. Yep, fairly common thread and pitch. 12x1.25
  22. nope, its a dealership item. I just bought one as mine decided to start leaking. 23 bucks
  23. Got my new torsion bar bolts....are nice and shiny. But I forgot to order the large hex nuts that go on them. Do you think I would be OK to use regular grade 8 nuts?
