  1. it's not runnig backwards just the torque comes from the wheels not the engine. 40mph isn't too fast but unless it's within a couple of dozen miles i'd probably unhook the the dr shafts unless it's a real pita then all bets are off.
  2. i am sure slick will chime in on the tobing thing.. how far are you going? and how fast? the tranny in neutral is disconnected from the engine but not hte wheels which means if you're towing then you're spinning the tranny parts with power applied backwards which i am pretty sure nobody designs them for.
  3. on some of the earlier years nissan calls for gear oil.... in later for ATF.. not sure when the changeover was.. i have a MT on my truck and due to that fact i have no atf fluids other then the T-case.. so i switched.. i have had gear oil in mine for 15kmi and i have used 4x4 quite a bit.. i have wheeled rather hard numerous times and i haven't noticed any problems at all.
  4. i wouldn't sweat it at all unless you have any issues mentioned above and then you just might as well.. otherwise.. forgetaboutit
  5. awesome.. mine turned 100k near the highest point in IL.. LOL it ain't that high. Elevation: 1,235 Feet.. there is an old colonial fort near there and i, as you did, took a bunch of pix.. will have to look for them now.. it's been a couple of years.
  6. as always.. ECU error codes? could be the maf, or plugs, wires.. vac.. throttle positioning.. etc..
  7. :D crap.. it took me a minute.
  8. MPFI, is that a brand name? mine is NKG and a direct plug in.
  9. it's worthwhile to shop around for O2 sensor.. i paid somwhere around $40 a couple of years ago. i'd run the ecu codes and see if anything pops up... garage --> how to miss could be all kinds of thing.. start with the basic tune-up.. plugs, wires, rotor, etc... heck it could be just a loose boot on a plug.. the rich condition is probably the 02.. that's the only time i recall mine ever running rich.. clean the throttle body too while you're at it. btw. those aren't terrible mpgs at all.. not the best but not completely out of range for these trucks.. that's all i ever get out of mine and i am all tuned up.
  10. huh.. there is not one spot on that graph where trq=hp... hmmm
  11. mine was a paper route customer who had some old ramblers and other antiques.. the hudson was probably my fav of his cars.
  12. well, it's burned already and seems to do way better then new oil.. i have never had a problem when i have used used oil... when i have used fresh oil, sometimes it will burn itself tight and then doesn't want to come off.. when i was way younger and just started to get into cars, some old guy told me to do so.. over the years i have tried both ways and he was right about the old oil..
  13. not common.. the adjustment handle is in the fron of the seat.. you have to pull it upwards and then slide the seat.. otherwise get a good flashlight and get your head down there to see what's catching, if anything. good luck

  15. nah.. just make sure you take your pants OFF. :D
  16. no proper punch tool? do you own a phillips screwdriver? seriously though.. i have done that more then once and one was so tough that i ended up twisting the filter with the screwdriver.. the filter eventually disintegrated and i had to pretty much disassemble the thing and when it was almost all gone the threads decided to let loose so the rest just spun off.. my guess it was on way too tight.. i normally put the new filter on only snug.. the main trick is to "wet" the gasket with some USED oil first.
  17. i used the postal code in the example and it just took me to the front page or somewhere.. not that specific product.. thanks though.
  18. well, that doesn't sound like an interference engine.. hmm.. you're the first and the only one i have heard not to have damaged the crap out of vg30 like that.. hmmm
  19. what is it? the link doesn't really link to anything. is it Platinum Shield Corrosion Control Module?... have heard that it actually works.
  20. you also should have heard some scary bangs when valves etc.. got fubared.. otherwise it may be electrical or fuel related.
  21. find the leak and DIY! you may need new lines... that can be expensive enough by itself.
  22. 26psi is factory setting.. most run their tires in the 30s though.
  23. great idea Mr. Jim.. now, where are the pics?
