  1. Did a but didn't find any thing on this. Just bought a used system with the same problem & will hopefully fix it like they did in these links....... http://www.xterraownersclub.com/cgi-local/...60;t=000183;p=7 http://www.xterraownersclub.com/cgi-local/...60;t=000183;p=8
  2. http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductDetail....945&PTSet=A <Quote>Unlike traditional new parts, Cardone Select CV axles are designed with CSE (CARDONE Select Engineered) Technology. That's a difference only CARDONE can give you. Based on years of making top-rated remanufactured parts, Cardone has seen where—and why—new parts fail. Therefore they've built in solutions to help avoid those traditional design flaws in this new line of axles. For example, Cardone increased thread size so the thread won't break during install. And they've added bellows to boots to reduce bellow stress. They even optimized shaft diameter to eliminate shaft breakage. Additional Features & Benefits: 100% Neoprene Boots for excellent Ozone resistance. - Eliminates cracking; a leading cause for failure of CV boots. 3% moly grease. - Provides excellent high temperature and extreme pressure characteristics which extends the life of the joint. Axle nut supplied 100%. - If axle nut from the vehicle is worn or stripped there is no need to buy a separate axle nut because it is provided. Splines rolled 100%. - Guarantees proper installation of axle into mating hub and transmission eliminating installation hassle. Threads rolled 100%. - Guarantees proper installation of axle nut eliminating installation hassle.<Quote> To good to be true for $89.99?? I'll gladly pay more if AC's (or anyone else's) is a better product. JM
  3. Yep, got the mud flaps too. Not sure I have all the mounting bolts though. Have to check. Took 'em off couple of moths ago and was shocked at how much crud they held & rust they hid/caused. I'll never put them on again. Luckily the law here doesn't restrict/enforce tires sticking out past the fenders. I would strongly advise anyone thats got 'em & never taken them off to at least remove & inspect for rust/crud build up. especially if road salts involved.
  4. There are guys who do it here. (Old motor oil+kerosene.)But I'm not sure how legal it is. Sorry if it offends anybody, but if it stops the salt from completely destroying my Pathfinder The slight damage to the environment won't keep me up at night. my '95 is already rusty. just trying to slow the rot down a bit. Fixed the frame with 1/4 plate. Took the fender flares off (anybody want 'em) because they were causing rust. Was going to trim 'em back anyway to fit larger tires. I HATE road salt!!!! Only good thing about rust is once your rig starts to rot you don't care about cutting it up & wheeling it. I had a great little Suzuki Samurai that still ran beautiful but literally rotted away to nothing.
  5. The Salts coming!! I've heard of people spraying a mixture of Kerosene & old motor oil on their vehicles undercarrage to keep corrosion at bay. Anybody try this? Does it help? How else do you guys/gals try & stop it from destroying your rigs?
  6. so the installation is straight forward. am i missing something? or this is the normal rancho 5000 behavior. most everyone on this site states the 5000's are on the stiff side. i don't see it. i've also have not installed the rears. i got the buy 3 and get 4th one free special ... coucoui 6 Just put four 5000's on my WD21 & don't think they're stiff at all either. Might be because I've got a '95 4door with the spare tire carrier & not the wimpy, light weight 2door
  7. Nope, That's a blower. Look at the gears and belt. And why no drive shaft. I'm thinkin' he probably took it out for the photo shoot. Because it won't go that LOW with the drive shaft in it. Rear axle is there but no shaft. The girl? She's a paid model. Give her enough money and she'll pose next to any dirty ol' WD21
  8. Where's the rear drive shaft? I'm guessin' it's a 2 wheel (rear) drive. He just pushing it on an off the trailer?
  9. Your right about that. I'm not trying to argue. Just pointing out that the RC/JGC lift might not be as cheap as it once was. At $275 for UCA's and $200 for springs + $150? shocks your gettin' up there. and don't forget steering NONE of the "kits" include a HOOHAA centerlink
  10. IF you can still get Rough Country UCA's and find a set of JGC's springs for cheap. (anybody try RC lately? I'm waitin' on my rebate check ) Local yards around here want $50-$75 for used coils. New costs $100-$200 Might be better to just buy new. And can you still get Rough Country UCA's cheap? If not your going to spend $275-$350 for Superlifts/Calmini's. (unless you want to take a chance with AC's $200 ones) RC UCA's/JGC coils are a great deal if you can find 'em cheap & will actually get 3".outa the coils.
  11. Sigh Wish someone was still making a system like this. Love to find a warehouse full of 'em
  12. Is the Pathy it came off of still in the yard? I'd go back, measure and see exactly how it was mounted and the difference between the one in the yard and yours. Ya never know The brush guard could be off a Toyota or something and the previous owner "made" it fit. Lots of strange things turn up at a junk yard.
  13. anybody still have those Jim Conner Racing lift pictures laying around? Sounds pretty wild with duel torsion bars???? and duel shocks all the way around. Perfect set up for jumping dunes
  14. Rocky Road Outfitters 1.75"??? Old Man Emu complete lift system $530.00 Shipped to my door includes rear springs, shocks and dampener.(no mention of spacers) Rocky Road OME springs only- $88.27 shipped AC rear (1.5") lift coils only- $128.22 shipped AC rear Heavy duty(3/4") lift coils only- $175.02 shipped I can get JGC coils at the local Junk Yard for $50.00 and may end up going that route. Cutting them down(if need be) so I won't need new UCA's/BJ spacers. If I could still get RC's UCA's for $160.00, I would. Just figured at $88.27 shipped(OME) or $128.22(AC) why buy used JY coils that might or might not be what I'm looking for. (just want as much LIFT and UP/Down travel as possible while maintaining proper alignment. Is that 2 much to ask for?
  15. For anyone still interested.<WARNING LONG POST> I received a reply from Glen at Rocky Road Outfitters, Seth at ARB U.S.A(OME) and Mike at AC. 1st Glen(RRO) basically said the same thing as OME's ad..... OME designs they're suspension "system" so that there is NO NEED for other changes to to vehicle. If you go higher you'll have more problems/$$$$ At the time I wrote him I was unaware of the lift hight discrepancy between RRO's advertised OME lift hight of 1.75" to ARB/U.S.A's advertised .75 (3/4) The reply from Seth(ARB/OME).... OME's springs only give .75" of lift and RRO probably use spacers to get the advertised 1.75" of lift. Mike at AC says that AC's HD torsion bars and 1.5" rear coils should work fine. IF there is an alignment problem I should use 1/2 ball joint spacers to fix it. (specifically told him I would prefer AC's 1.5" coils but if he felt the alignment would suffer I would use AC's .75" coils because I did NOT want to use BJ spacers/UCA's) SO...... I'm going to e-mail Glen back to see if indeed RRO are using coil spacers to get 1.75" and if so. Aren't they messing with OME's systems design? O.K. I know....... "Who Cares,it's only a .75"-1.75" lift" Well,it's my beloved Pathfinder and HARD earned money. Who would you trust?
  16. Planning ahead. Gas prices here in the U.S. are NOT going to stay where they're at or go down. just wait. Propane(or another alternative) will eventually be cheaper than gasoline here as well.
  17. Going to join a local jeep club and need a CB to keep in touch with the trail leader. I know there are probably numerous posts/pictures on installing a CB. what kind, best place, and how to install. But search engine won't do 2 letters. Any links/pictures/opinions on installing a CB and antenna or How to:search:for dummies?
  18. Well, I did a little research and found Rocky road Outfitters claim 1.75 (1&3/4) lift with OME's rear springs while ARB USA's website states .75 (3/4) lift with the same OME rear springs. Contacted both, see what kinda response I get. I'm bettin' it's only 3/4. otherwise OME's system would have UCA's like Superlifts and AC's.
  19. Good info, Doesn't look like their kit would work on a Pathfinder unless ya stick in an older non computer controlled engine though. http://www.gotpropane.com/
  20. Have you seen this?........ http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...mp;#entry311375 I have not personally experienced OME's ride quality. In fact I haven't found anyone that's got the OME system on a WD21. But,from what I've read, most Land Rover,Toyota and R50 owners that do have the OME system love 'em.
  21. I've got a droopy ass. + every bit of Xtra ground clearance helps. rather than buy stock springs from the dealer, I thought I could install either OME's or JGC's(4door/tire carrier) 1.5"-2" lift springs in the rear and crank the T bars a bit without having to buy UCAs Especially if the high $$ Superlift and Calmini UCAs are now my only options. (R.I.P. $160.00 rough country UCAs )
  22. I know,I know.....3+3=33s BIGGER is always BETTER. But with me only being a weekend warrior and gas prices reaching $100.00 an ounce this summer. I have decided on 2"+31s= more money in my pocket. Now to da question...... Both Superlifts and Rough Countries 1.5"-2" Hardbody lifts discuss the need for new UCAs http://www.superlift.com/Catalog.asp?V=258 http://www.roughcountry.com/nissan_hardbody.html But Old Man Emu's 1.75" lift http://www.rocky-road.com/pathfindersus.html Doesn't I'm not even gonna get into AC selling their own UCA's(claims they're longerthan stock ) and Superlifts(says larger wheels needed to use these ) right next to each other for the hardbody but not for the Pathfinder!! Thought the Pathfinder and Hardbody shared the same IFS????? If I only run 1.5"-2" coils in da rear would it be wise to also install UCAs? Hell,If that's the case my as well go with 3" rear springs.
  23. Always the oddball I'm runnin' 265/75/15 Kelly Safari TREX's http://www.kelly-springfield.com/auto/promo/trex.html Want to get a 2nd set of rims.(15X8) and a really aggressive MT for the real nasty stuff.
  24. Used and this was closest topic I could find. Did all Pathfinders with disk brakes also come with LSD or were they separate options? Possible to have drum/LSD or Disk/open diff. from the factory?
  25. x3, I would take it back and politely tell them since you offroad the hell out of this rig. You are concerned about how the line is mounted. If it's a good shop they should have no problem rebending it up and out of the way for ya.
