  2. The LSV is the load sensing valve, it's a brake proportioning valve that increases brake pressure to the rear end as the rear end drops under weight. You'll see it attached to the rear diff. Nissan steps for bleeding call for LSV, left rear, right rear, left front, right front.
  3. Make sure you guys are bleeding the LSV first.
  4. Did you take the hub back off and check the inner seal and bearing, easy to maul the seal as you put the hub back on.
  5. That 58-72ft/lbs is just to seat the bearings, you back it off and torque it to 4.3-13 in/lbs. Turning it at 58-72ft/lbs is pretty tough but helps to seat everything.
  6. This locknut socket helps (OTC7698), especially since the Nissan steps call for 58-72 ft/lbs of torque to seat the bearings when you put them back in. I think most people use a punch but that locknut socket makes it easy. http://groups.msn.com/LewisPictures/shoebo...hoto&PhotoID=21

  8. When my bearings went bad the races were bad as well, but they were fairly easy to remove from the hub. Just use a punch and slowly work them out, no press required to get the new ones in. The only special tool I used was the correct size locknut socket to seat the new bearings.

  10. Trainman, you're somewhat right. OBDII codes starting with P0 are generic and will be the same for any OBDII vehicle. Codes starting with P1 are manufacturer specific and might use a different meaning for the same code number. If the Equus code reader includes text descriptions of the codes, you'll need to translate them to the Nissan meaning if they are P1 codes. But any OBDII reader will still be able to read the actual code numbers. For example: P1110 - OBDII generic code is Intake Air Temp. Sensor P1110 - Nissan specific code is Intake Valve Timing Control
  11. It's probably a factory transmission cooler. They came on the 96-98 Pathfinders, but I'm not sure what models they came with. My 97 XE w/ Sports Pkg has it.   12. There's quite a few dealerships that have online sites now selling OEM parts at a good discount. I got my timing belt parts at www.everythingnissan.com and everything was OEM Nissan parts. This website is actually run by an Infiniti dealership in AZ but can get any Nissan parts. All parts I've priced have been 30-40% less than local dealerships. Someone else posted a site that was slightly cheaper on the timing belt parts but I can't remember what that was.
  13. Sales of the redesigned Pathy shot up 100% from 2004 to 2005, and this year sales are up 2.5% over last year so far.
  14. I had no problems finding several brands of Dexron in local auto parts stores when I replaced the fluids in my 97. Dexron II and III are both supposedly backwards compatible, but the owner's manual is pretty specific about Dexron in the transfer case and Dexron II or Dexron III in the power steering. No idea why but its in both the owners manual and the FSM that way. :confused:
  15. 97 Pathy calls for Dexron in the transfer case, not Dexron II.
  16. 97 Pathfinder calls for Dexron in the transfer case and takes 2.375 qts. Rear Diff = 5 7/8 pints Front Diff = 4 3/8 pints

  18. I thought the 96-97 Pathfinders had the LSD on the XE 4x4 w/ Sport Package, the LE 4x4 and the SE 4x4 w/ Off Road Pkg. Were the LE and SE LSD options not available until 97?
  19. That's what I get for posting replies at 7am before I'm awake. By the way, the 96+ Pathfinders didn't have a mark either, nothing on my 97 when I did my change even though the FSM still shows it exists.
  20. The change interval is 105k miles.
  21. There's an id code on top of the diff also, should be 1" high white letters/numbers. If it starts with CT or CX it is LSD, CR or CV no LSD.
  22. Any chance you guys are confusing Overdrive (4th gear) with torque converter lockup? TC lockup is prevented until the ATF warms up.
  23. sbcathey, where do you live? Here in the Midwest the winter additives kill my MPG, a drop of 1-2MPG in most driving conditions.
  24. There's been a few posts about the parts of the crankshaft pulley coming apart. You might get lucky with a search.
