  1. Well, I was assuming its the tranny I guess it might be something else, I haven't been under there yet. I only drive it two days a week. I didn't realize there was no filter. I"m an amsoil distributer so I guess i'll put some of that in there. I think I"ll wait on the rebuild as its not that bad and maybe the syn. oil will help. Thanks Scott
  2. I have a 98 with a 5spd, I need to do some maintenance. Recently it started leaking, I haven't gotten under it yet. I was hoping to get a filter/gasket and flush it myself. Also on really cold days I have a grind on a 1-2 up-shift stops once it warms up a bit,,,,so I was wondering how hard a syncro was to replace? I have done alot of other car work including a total restoration of a Chevy hotrod, but I have never done tranny work. Is this doable? Thanks Scott
  3. Thats what I was thinking, but I thought I would try and confirm in here. Thanks
  4. Will 1st gen exterra half shafts fit on a 1997 pathfinder?
  5. I am not getting any codes. Today it doesn't seem as gear specific, and actually it is only when the clutch is disengaged. I talked to a couple people, and everyone seems to think its the throw out bearing. scott
  6. I bought an R50 5 spd a few months ago. My wife was driving it today and it started a high pitched squeal when in 2nd and 4th gear. It starts with the clutch disengaged, and continues once engaged. It stops when in neutral and I disengage the clutch. I let it sit a few hours and the symptoms did not return. I have never had a manual before, is this a common sign or does anyone know what I'm looking at? Also the last couple months when cold second syncro is not great. Thanks for reading. Scott
  7. Well I replaced the plugs and it is doing quite a bit better. My son rest the trip somewhere between 210-220 so Im not sure exactly how many miles I got but it was very close to 300 miles this tank (which is 16.6mpg) all in town. so I'm thinking highway should be up to 19-20. oh yeah one other factor I had the front drive shaft out so I could switch the crank position sensor. so maybe I didn't gain as much as I thought.
  8. I'm in colorado springs, i'm not sure what additives are added here. But I will change the cap/rotor, and fuel filter. the wires looked pretty good
  9. www.fueleconomy.gov rates it at 16/18 so I guess I'm not that far off. I just replaced the plugs this weekend. anyone see any gains worth while with an airfilter?
  10. I just bought a 97 pathfinder se v6 5spd. On the highway comming home I almost got 16MPG. and the first tank around town i got 15.5mpg. just about 275 miles per tank. Is this normal for a stock set up? Any imput would be appriciated. Scott
  11. Just drove down to Albuquerque this week and picked up a 97 SE 5spd. Seems like my wife wants to take it more than me. Maybe we should get a second....
