  1. My truck was bogging down going up hills and was running rough so I put some new NGK V-Power plugs in this weekend. These are the first plugs I have put in since I bought it and I don't think they had ever been changed (138,000 miles!) The used plug gaps were from .052 to .060 compared to the spec .034. I drove it after the change I there is a noticeable difference in power up hills and smoother running. I'll switch the cap rotor and wires next.
  2. Mr. Pickles where are you going to mount the Hellas? I was looking at getting some of those or some Piaas and I don't have a brush guard (I want to get an ARB bumper), but I would like to add some lights. Post some pics when you get them installed! -bounce-
  3. When I took mine apart the bolts that hold the tire frame on were longer and they seemed bigger than the bolts that hold the latch on. I didn't pay any attention to the numbers on the bolts. I took the bumpers, the tire carrier, the skid plate and the front piece under the bumper off at the same time and put all the nuts and bolts on the same table! To put it all back together I just used process of elimination. Whatever fit thats where I used it sly
  4. Thanks for the advice guys. I do have auto hubs I'll try the 4x4 test to make sure that's not it. I don't think its the steering stops because it makes the noise when you just turn the wheel slightly not turning it deep.
  5. I know its not the brake pads. I just put new ones one about a month ago and haven't had any problems out of those. I do hear a popping sound when you go slow and turn the wheel. That's why I think its the wheel bearings. Its not a squealing sound its more of a growling sound or a low grinding sound. I have about 140k miles on it. When do you usually have to service the wheel bearings? The rear ones were done about 2 years ago, but I can't remember what that cost was, and are the front ones about the same amount of work? -thnkboutit-
  6. I think my front wheel bearings are going bad. I hear a humming noise that I thought was my tires wearing bad, but yesterday I held my head out the door while driving into my driveway and the noise is coming from the front hubs. They are making a grinding sound. My question is have they gone to far to just get repacked or will I need new bearings too? How much does it cost to get these things done on the average? I have a mechanic that does work for me that I can't do, and he charges me a pretty fair price. I just don't know what to expect on this job.
  7. Thanks, I got the it at Walmart. It was like $3.49 a can I think. It does better than the regular spray paints, it seemed to go on thicker.
  8. I was considering some of AC's parts because of price, but I definitely will only get CALMINI suspension parts to put on my pathy. I have never heard of anyone complain or have this kind of stuff happen with their parts. I guess thats why they are more expensive. sssh
  9. Painting PicturesHere are some pics of what mine looks like. Look at the bottom of the page.
  10. I got the bumper off by taking the 4 bolts off each side and just took the cover part off. I got the front and rear bumpers the skid plate and the tire carrier all painted in a weekend. On the tire carrier I just taped around it and covered the whole rear of the Pathfinder in newspaper for overspray. Then I just sanded it to rough up the finish and I painted everything with the Plasti-kote body shop paint from Walmart and covered it with 2 coats of there clear coat. I painted the grill and around the side lights with Krylon Fusion paint. It turned out good, but we'll see how long it lasts.
  11. How is that roof rack install coming. Post some pics when you can I would like to see how you did it. :type:
  12. I am going to repaint the bumpers and the tire carrier this weekend and I can't figure out what is the quickest way to get the front bumper off. Should I take the front wheels off and unbolt it from the wheel well or is there more bolts than that? I know several of you have done this for the body lifts so is there something you learned that would help me out?
  13. Be sure to post some pics of that roof rack install when you're done. I have wondered if those can be modified to fit on the older pathys. :cool2:
  14. I can't get the pictures to post, but here's a link to my other post with them in it.Transmission Cooler and filter
  15. I put on the Hayden 679 tranny cooler and the B&M filter kit last month and I can tell a difference in the shifting, and the transmission and the engine temperature seem to be down. We have been having low 90 degree temps every day too. I would recommend adding the filter kit when doing the cooler add-on. It only takes a little more time and it only cost me $38 for it from Autozone. Now I have piece of mind with the filter that I can change regularly. I routed the lines from the tranny > filter > Hayden cooler in front of the condenser> to stock cooler > to transmission. I hooked up the whole system then took the line out of the stock cooler and put it in a bucket and had my wife shift the transmission and made sure there was a good flow of fluid out of the stock cooler before hooking it back up to the transmission. Here is the filter with the bracket I made.
  16. I put the pilot fog lights in the place of the stock lights and used the stock wiring. They keep blowing the fuse that connects to the battery terminal. I thought maybe the relay was bad, and got one off ebay. It was crap it turned one light on and one light off with the switch on and when the switch was turned off the other light came on. So I put the old relay back in and replaced the fuse. The lights will work for a little while before the blow the fuse again. Anybody have any ideas what it could be?
  17. What's up with there springs? I wonder when they will have those available? Has anybody got an answer from them?
  18. My thought was to do the cone filter install now with an adapter and take the air box out and keep it intact. Then when I am ready to do the snorkel I can put the airbox in with a new filter and hook up the snorkel. Because the snorkel is way down the mod list! sly Do you all think you get better performance from the cone filter intake or is it the same as getting a K&N drop in filter?
  19. I have a question on this cone filter change. On Mr. Jim's site it says when you are done with the install you have to reset the ECU. What does that mean and how do you do it? I am looking at doing this, but I was going to get an adapter from somewhere else because I want to keep my factory airbox for a snorkel eventually. So guys let me know how the install goes when it is done! :type:
  20. Man that is sharp! -bounce- That solves the cupholder issue and I think the factory armrest is too small anyway. That looks better the stock. Nice job What year model did it come out of?
  21. I just got a deal on a Hayden transmission cooler off of ebay and I am thinking about installing a remote transmission filter with it. Has anybody put one of these in? Are they worth it? I thought since the only one is a mesh screen in the transmission, one of these would be good insurance and easy to change. If anybody has what brand is good, and where is the best place to located it? I have searched this and a couple other forums and can't find any write ups or pics.
  22. You guys that put the MSD Helicore wires and Bosch plugs in your rigs a while ago, are they running fine? Do you have any complaints? I was looking at your posts and pics on the how-to's of putting your own wires together and I think I might try that when I go to change the plugs. I just wanted to see what you thought about there performance now that you have driven with them for awhile? Those Accel wires look nice too. I just don't know too much about the different types of wires?
