Vengeful, I noticed you're a member of NOAS. Have you ever done the Coal Creek run? I was looking at their website the other day and I never realized that place is only a little over an hour from where I live. -thnkboutit-

Does Anybody Know How To Fix This?
red-finder replied to red-finder's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I have not been able to get the relay wired in to fix this yet, but I had to post what happened yesterday. My truck had this same problem twice yesterday so I tried dfather99's trick of turning the key over and it started first time on both tries. That is wierd. I don't know how it works, but it does! :cool2: -
I've got a 95 and there is a tool under the seat in the tire changing tools that is made to take that plug out. It makes it much easier. spark plug replacement

I just saw it the other day. I was going to try to find the picture and see if that was somebody from here!

Does Anybody Know How To Fix This?
red-finder replied to red-finder's topic in 90-95 WD21 Pathfinders
I have heard of this on some other Pathfinders. GrimGreg I knew I had seen a post on some kind of fix with a relay. That sounds like what my problem could be. I'll try it and see how it goes. I don't want to replace the starter if I can help it. Thanks for the help. -
My pathy has been having trouble starting. This happened last year during the summer, it seems to be worse when it is hot out. I had the starter replaced last year when it went out, but even with the new one this problem keeps coming up. When you turn the key the dash lights up and there is a single click, but nothing happens. I have to turn it off and try again. Sometimes it takes 5 or 6 turns of the key then it starts right up. Its not the battery because the start isn't slow or weak. When this happened last year I thought it was the with the automatic shifter, and the truck wouldn't start because it thought it was in gear so I fixed that. It didn't help. As the weather got cooler and through the winter It didn't happen, Now the problem is back. Has anybody else had this problem or know what I could check?

I have the CALMINI shocks. They are pretty stiff. If you are looking for a comfortable on road drive they aren't for you. From what I have heard the Rancho 5000's are the same type of ride. I also have the 3" lift kit so I have the stiffer springs in the rear and the heavier torsion bars so those make a difference in the ride too. Are you going to run just the shocks with the stock suspension? They are longer than stock for the lifted Pathfinders I think.

Here is a write up on how to change out the half shaft. CV Replacement Somewhere I saw a write up with pictures on how to do this, but I can't find it. I will keep looking. When you do yours take some pictures and do a write up. sly I know I am going to have to replace one of mine soon.

I'm going to have to do this job soon myself. I got a kit off ebay like you did Mr. Pickles with the upper, lowers and the tie rod ends. I used the uppers when I did my suspension lift, but I couldn't make myself do the lowers at the same time. Someone needs to do the job and do the right up with pictures. What is the easiest way to change them?

Nice looking ride. I like the brushguard. Show us some pics after the tires!

Man that Discovery Project truck is bad! I've always wanted a rover too. I had a friend who had one. They are solid vehicles and are known for their offroad capabilities, but I have always been scared of the repair bills. You can pick up a used Discovery for cheap, but I always figured parts for them would be expensive. I guess you have to decide how bad you want one.

MaritimeMan, the tire shop didn't mention having any trouble aligning it. Thanks for the info I will check it out.

The pictures on the web page are hard to tell, but the measurements went from 30 1/2" from the ground to the fender flare stock in the front to 34 5/8" after the lift and from 31 5/8" in the rear stock to 35 1/8" after the lift. Yea, I'm done with mods for this year I think! I've spent about $4,000 in about a month! -alcohol- Thanks for the compliments, I would have never even dreamed I could have done that lift by myself before surfing here for about a year. Now i feel like I can work on about anything on the truck now. Now its time to go get it dirty! That CALMINI lift makes it nice, everything fit pretty easy. The only casualties were I broke about 2 sockets trying to take the UCA bolts loose.

Those are sweet! They make your truck look HUGE!

Well $1900 later I got her back from the transmission shop and she's back on the road. I got my pictures downloaded from my camera of the new lift and tires. Let me know what you think. If you want to see more look here. My Webpage

Yea, I am supposed to pick mine up from the transmission shop today after spending a week getting the transmission rebuilt. We'll see what the total $ is today. I'm ready to get it back I miss driving it. I've been driving this crappy Pontiac Sunfire rental car all week! Sorry for the bad news, but a couple mechanics and the transmission guy told me that it is common in our Pathfinders and the Maxima for the reverse to go out first then eventually the forward gears. :sniff:

Thanks for the info. I took it to the shop today. I live in Tennessee, so there are a lot of shops around here that are pretty shady. I found one that said they would do it for $1700 plus tax and the fluid. I got some references from others that said these people were good so we will see. They are going to rebuild mine and put it back on. The bad thing about all this is I do have a big aftermarket cooler and external filter kit already. So they will stay on and I hope they will help this rebuild last longer.

I found out today it looks like I am going to have to get the tranny rebuilt in my Pathfinder. Has anybody had this done in theirs? I wanted to know what kind of life I can expect out of a rebuild? It looks like it is going to cost me $2,000. Is this reasonable? This and my son pulled a table over on his foot and had to go to the emergency room! What a @#%^! Monday!

I lost reverse this weekend. Everything was running fine in the morning then I went to back out of a parking spot and I put it in reverse and it just acted like I was in neutral. It still goes in drive fine and does not shift wierd. I have an after market cooler on it and I changed the fluid and put an external filter on it back last summer. I checked the fluid and it is still pink and doesn't smell burnt. Is my tranny going out or could it be something else like a solenoid?

You gotta love the new ride after the lift and new shocks, now it feels like a truck doesn't it! :cool2: Sweet rims and tires. What size tires did you put on?
-
Earth 1 I got my final measurements last night. The lift has been on a week now so these may change but I got 2 7/8" in the rear with the Calmini springs. I don't carry anything in the back of my pathy and for now it just has the stock spare tire. I got about the same in the front with the new UCA's with still about an inch from the bump stops. I've got pictures as soon as I can get them downloaded, playing with a new camera.

I like the shocks. The springs are pretty stiff. When I compared them to the stock ones they are alot heavier, but with the tire carrier and spare it helps the ride out. Things seem to be settling with the torsion bars and the springs. It feels like a new ride. Nowhere near the slop of the stock ride. I haven't taken my final measurements on the lift yet. I had to keep adjusting the front because I would lift it, drive a little and it would settle back down. I finally got everything right and got it aligned with the new tires today. There was no problem on the alignment with the new UCAs. I'll get a measurement for you tonight.

I got my CALMINI lift on this weekend. The only major problem I had was getting out the bushings. I tried burning them and drilling them. I finally took them to a 4WD shop and had them pressed out in about 20min. I would recommend that route. I was tired of wrestling with them. I like the lift a lot. The rear springs are pretty stiff, but I like the ride. The shocks had plenty of clearance from the control arm even with the shock boots. I'll try to post pics later. This lift is well worth the money. -bounce-

After I posted this I saw Earth1's post and pictures.

Thanks for the info and the pictures I just got my CALMINI kit yesterday and was wondering if there were any tricks to putting those UCA's on. I got the CALMINI shocks so I'll see what the clearance is like with them.
