  1. I've tried to wax over flaking clear coats before to prevent spreading, but it's pretty much a loss cause. Basically, once it starts, it's going to spread no matter what you do. I live in New Mexico and we have pretty much the same sun conditions you do. I've even had back luck restoring oxidation as it just reappeared in about six months. Sorry for the bad news..
  2. ^that's true. I noticed a significant difference in performance when I upgraded to 31's. I think it robbed some of my torque and made my ride a little more jolty. I'm not going back, though. Also, thanks everyone for the replys. I haven't done anything about this possible problem yet as I haven't noticed any CEL or abnormal behavior of any sorts since I created this thread (knock, knock on wood please!). I've driven this thing nearly 1,000 miles since. I'm just going to ride it out and see what happens before I spend any $$$. I really want to change out my cat and exhaust soon.
  3. Give the search function try here. There's a host of topics on this sort of thing and they might be able to give you an idea of what you need. Also, a little wobble down the road could mean there are more issues other than shocks. Just to prepare you. Have you checked this thread for other things to be aware of? http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=19042 BTW, welcome aboard and I hope I didn't scare you too much.
  4. I don't think members on here use Monroe very much. Rancho's and Procomp's are the one's I hear of most often. Like the aforementioned, google some reviews and see if you can find some answers.
  5. ^ it's an auto...that's interesting. Now that I think about it, it started doing this after I upgraded to 31's.
  6. ^thanks, I'll take a peek back there to see what's up (if anything)
  7. Jennifer Aniston says not to bother to wait for her :-)
  8. my heater was stuck on my 350mile journey yesterday. it's was got so hot i had to run with the sunroof open. people kept looking at me in the snow storm. have you tried cleaning out the blower motor?
  9. Well, the weather was nice enough today to check to codes. If I did it right, it came back as #14 vehicle speed sensor. (red light blinks once and the green blinked four times) What's that? Is it important?
  10. Okay so here goes. I was traveling to my favorite mountain village and while going there my check engine light came on. I was climbing a steep hill against some head winds and the elevation was about 7000+ft. The first time I noticed it, I pulled over to do a visual inspection of the engine bay. Everything seemed fine and the engine idled/ran fine. The light vanished once I restarted the engine but reappeared when I continued toward my destination. When I started to go home, where all I did was coast down hills and travel on a flat freeway, there was no light and all was well. My guess is the O2 sensor is taking a dump and trips the ECU especially when the engine is strained? BTW, my rig is a 95 SE with 106K with new timing belt and tune-up Any other ideas?
  11. Congrats on the figuring out the headlights. My fogs don't work either. My relay clicks and the switch lights up...but nothing. I also have issues with the license plate lights. Replaced the bulbs and that didn't fix it. Fuses look good. Any ideas?
  12. Dads Mine was neglectful even before his dakota. He had a 87 Mazda B2000 and as far as I know, he NEVER changed the oil. Just added some when the light came on. The damn thing ran on to 205K before it gave up the ghost.
  13. ^hope it stays that way...maybe you had some sludge in there? It's amazing how sensitive our engines are to oil. My mechanic put color dye in mine to try to trace down a leak. The lifters didn't like that and it ticked like hell all time (hot or cold) until I put fresh oil in. I'm now due for another oil change in about 150miles and it's a little noise on startup. Also, my dad can neglect his dakota for 10K before oil changes and it doesn't mind.
  14. ^okay, thanks. I was just concerned that the oil would attract a lot of dirt and stuff and cause more problems.
  15. Hi gang, I searched but nothing hit me. I just bought a 95 SE with the automatic antenna. It still works but it squeaks like hell. Is there any way for me to lube it besides just spraying the whole antenna while it's errect? How fragile are these?I'm always afraid it's going to snap while wheeling through some thick trees or brush. Thanks in advance for any reply.
  16. Just as the title says. Whenever in conversation, I refer to this site as "n" "pora." I actually make those last four letters into a word. My boss calls this the pathy forums. How do you guys refer to this site? Just curious. Cheers!
  17. ^ha, ha, ha My fuel light worked like twice when I first bought it and then it never came back. I guess the previous owners ran on fumes quite often and wore out the bulb.
  18. The Maxima wasn't a go. Too rotted underneath (thanks, nunya). So, I fell for the Pathy for sale across town. That's right, it's mine as of a few hours ago. Very stressful and I'm still having post-car-buying-stress-disorder...Again, it's a 95 SE with 106K and I plan on doing the timing belt sometime next week. I paid 2,000 out the door. Meanwhile, my white XE I sold for $4,300. It had quite a few upgrades and the body was in nicer condition than the one I just bought. This is just my second vehicle and it's ready for my personal touch. I'll post pix up in the appropriate thread when daylight comes...thanks all for the input.
  19. Ok, big change here. I just found a local dealer this morning who has a 95 Pathy SE with 106Kmiles in decent condition for $1800. I think I'll spring for it. It runs better than the Pathy I have now.
  20. Hi, basically my sister's boyfriend's car died and I had to lend them my Pathy for a while. He now has the Pathy bug and wants to buy it off me. I'm tempted since it's kinda turned into a money pit. If I could get 4,000 (it's a 95 XE with 107000miles) from it, and get a local 4th generation Maxima for 3,200, do you think that would be a good idea? Most of my driving now is on the road and he says he'll let me borrow it when I get the urge to go wheeling. I'm looking at getting a cruiser. This Maxima I'm looking at is a 96 SE with 120,000 miles. Any input is much appreciated.
  21. Congrats, bud! Where did you get your cat?
  22. ^I think he's referring to the round area of your rear differential (basically looking at it from behind).
  23. Looks good, man. I've always liked the LE's...they're more exclusive! Bigger tires and different rims will make a BIG difference
