  1. ^ Is that your "mudfinder"? Give us some 360˚pix of your rig...looks like it's nice.
  2. My "check engine" light didn't come on either. That is if I disconnected the right plug.
  3. I really like the sound of this mod. (also, welcome aboard!) However, I don't see a big enough spot on the stock box to house this deckplate.
  4. I'm too scared to try mine out. 80 is the fastest I've ever gone and I don't see a reason why I need to experience the top speed.
  5. I've done some pretty stupid things with my Path on stock suspension with anti-roll bars on and it held up just fine. As others have said, just know your limits and don't attempt to do it all at once. Check out what this idiot did just to show how stable these trucks can be: (I wouldn't attempt)
  6. I have stock chromies and I can't get the damn things balanced properly to save my life. It's always jittery and nervous on the highway. Tire shops say that they are all fine and set to "0." It was completely smooth with a different set of wheels I borrowed for test purposes. Just be aware of what tire shops tell you since they probably don't care.
  7. ^Thanks for the reply and tip(s). I will look into that as I'm not sure if it's been replaced yet (I bought the truck a year ago).
  8. I'm not sure. I had mine checked by my good old friend and mechanic. I'm not sure what he did.
  9. just wondering...i'm currently running on 15" steel wheels and 31's. how much difference would it make if i were to switch to 16" aluminum wheels and comparable tires?
  10. UPDATE: Well, it's not fixed but I have a sure diagnosis...it's the cat. Mechanic says that it's partially clogged. Timing, compression, drag points were all good. I didn't know a cat could have this kind of effect. Anyway, thanks for all your help fellas!
  11. Mine has yakima cross bars that make A LOT of wind noise at highway speeds. Just be aware of that.
  12. ^yup, i'm a cheapskate...might consider that!
  13. Well I had the brakes adjusted and the front pads replaced. Didn't change a thing. Is there an easy way to check ignition timing without consulting a mechanic?
  14. brakes actually do need attention. especially the front where they clunk and squeak like hell.
  15. Hey, do the wd21 pathy's have two cats or just one. I think I'll spring for that higher-flow cat by magnaflow. Just wanted to make sure.
  16. If my cat is clogged, wouldn't that through a code or make it run all @!*%ty?
  17. Yup, I'm bone stock. I'll give that a shot. Gas mileage is fine: I'll get around 19-20mpg on the highway. Thanks and also thanks to everyone else for the comments.
  18. I wanted to check with you guys to see if this is normal. I know the VG30 engines aren't anything to brag about and that many owners complain about lack of power in stock form. I do think mine is a bit severe. Basically, my poor truck REALLY struggles to maintain speed on the highway. I can't stay with traffic even on the gentlest of hills and if I happen to be driving into a head wind, the tranny almost never locks up the torque converter and sometimes will downshift into 3rd and I have to keep the throttle at 3/4 of the way open. (This is at 65mph) I noticed today when I was coasting down a 6% grade, the truck still slows down by itself. It seems like it just doesn't want to go above 45mph in top gear. Do I have some sort of rolling resistence? Clogged exhaust? I'm on a tight budget now and can't spring for Thorley's/cat/exhaust yet. Would throwing a freer-flowing catback exhaust help? I experience all of this with just me on board with no other passengers and no load. It's been like this since I bought the truck a year ago. If I have passengers and run the A/C, I pretty much have to leave the O/D off. I don't like the tranny downshifting/upshifting all the time to maintain a steady speed. It seems pathetic. Otherwise the truck's running fine. Idles smooth, revs smooth. It's stock with 105K (timing belt just changed with no effect on power), auto tranny and 31x10.5 tires. I noticed a bad lack of power before upgrading to bigger tires, they just made it worse, obviously. Appreciate any response
  19. Took it back to the mechanics and all is well. They fixed the vacum line, installed my distributer shield and missing bolts. The only thing are the manifold shields which I'm pretty sure were missing when I bought the truck. Do I really need them? Anyway, thanks for all the help.
  20. Thanks a bunch for the reply. I forgot to mention that the mechanics didn't get the timing marks right the first time and blew a couple of valves. I basically had a free valve job. Thus that's why they would have been messing with the things you pointed out—to get to the heads.
  21. Hi all, I recently had my timing belt replaced by a mechanic in my home town. I have mixed feelings about these guys but anyway here's my questions: When I drove the truck home, it seemed to run fine, smooth and normal. However I'm really meticulous and wanted to take a peek under the hood to see how things look. I noticed that they neglected to install two screws on the timing belt cover. Is that something to be alarmed about? Will dust and crap get into the timing belt area? Also, it seems that a vacuum line is missing off of this (I have no idea what it is since I'm no mechanic) What is it and does a hose attach to it or something? Here's a broader area shot... Last, this ground cable is just hanging around. Anybody know where it attaches to? The other end is just bolted to the body. I know I'm asking a lot here but I'd appreciate any input you have to offer.
  22. Mine has lived in the desert nearly all its life and it has a bit of rust in the same area. I guess my fender flares trapped mud and moisture. I eventually got it off with some heavy duty rubbing compound.
  23. What's the latest on this? If we're still going for this deal, then I'm in...committed!
