  1. went for a run, started sputtering, eventually died out, started back up, ran awhile, started sputtering under load again and died, had to get hauled home. also my rpm tach was going nuts but the engine wasnt matching, also a weird noise comin from under the hood (almost like wires burning), that noise ended up being my main relay, which i switched out for a new one. the weird noise and rpm gauge going nuts stopped, however now i got no fire. I tested resistance on both ignition coils, seem alright, tested for spark directly from the coils with no go, cap and rotor are good, rotors turning, resistance is good on cap, battery is good, cleaned maf about oh a month or 2 ago. btw 88 wd21 z24 thanks ahead of time.
  2. Happy Birthday guys, have a good one
  3. k it was my main relay that was making the noise, cant' find one today, will havta wait till tomorrow and try a new one.
  4. i'll keep that in mind, even tho its not even 6 months old, my buddy has a battery analyzer I can borrow. thanks
  5. im thinkin a bad ground somewhere, thats what im gonna look for first, just curious if anyone else experienced this.
  6. hey guys, went for a run this morning, on my way the pathy started sputtering, dying out, stalled, my rpm gauge was going nuts, jumping up and down (not matching what the engine was doing), it would start up, run for awhile and start doing the same thing. finally last time it died it would not start again, wheneven i turn my key on, I can hear a weird almost burning wire sound comin from under the hood, sounds like its comin from under the air intake, and my rpm needle will go nuts the same time that i hear that god awful sound. no burning smells, anyone have something similar happen?
  7. not sure about the auto hubs as i have manual, but just give the upper balljoint a good whack with a BFH, i've replaced a couple of them on the pathy, I ended up breaking most if not all bolt heads, just whack'er from the top and she should pop out.
  8. bloody nice!! Looks much better with mud
  9. my god im so happy we dont have those tests, lol idle test? wtf they look at our bearings, shocks, struts, UBJ, LBJ's, brakes, lights, windshield, parking brake and tires. and of course no holes in the body I think i'd fail a smog test. I Shouldn't be laffin, my inspection is commin up in feb, gulp.
  10. sorry man, just reread your first post and noticed its an amc20 from an early 80's wagoneer, which is a heavy duty amc20, I thought it was a CJ AMC20, if its from a wagoneer it already has the 1 piece shaft and thicker housing, its a good axle.
  11. welcome! nice, another 2 door if you plan on putting an amc20 on it, i'd suggest getting the moser or yukon 1 piece axle shaft upgrade and trussing the housing, it'll be as strong if not stronger than a d44.
  12. you just called your pathy a car?
  13. no one laffs at my pathy, prolly cuz i'd kick the crap outta them lol My last vehicle was a chev sierra, 33's, the truck did go through hell and kept tickin, however I have gone through WAY worse in the pathy and not spending nearly as much for repairs. your tires are definitely gonna hold you back, i'd suggest getting new rubber, and depending on where you want to go, get a locker, actually get one anyways :tonguefinger: Depending on what size rubber you want, a lift is probably necessary, I got 31's with a 3" lift, its a hearty combination I also have a jeep, although i cannot compare it to the pathy as its been in my garage since i got it, and its getting a 5" lift, 35's and locked front and rear, its strictly a toy. Once the jeep is completed, I betcha i'll be able to go almost anywheres in the pathfinder as i can in the jeep, if not more :tonguefinger: I love my pathy.
  14. oh crap, been working on the 'jeep' too much lately lol
  15. So i decided to clean out my heater vents yesterday, as I was unable to go higher than setting # 2 or else my whole pathy would shake violently lol, heres a few pics There was ALOT of junk in there, including plastic, theres no real clear pics of inside the fan itself, but it was stuffed full, once cleaned out I can now have my heater full blast without the jeep shaking crazy and being super loud, also dont have to worry about catching on fire!!
  16. there are so many horror stories too, the kids were 10 mins from being home, most of them called their parents and said 'hey pick us up in 10 mins', it was 1 kids birthday, his parents called at midnight to sing him happy birthday, they crashed around 12:06, so literally just after hanging up it happened, its awful. they decided to have a mass memorial and funeral, its really gonna be rough...
  17. some of you may have seen on the news about a crash in Bathurst New Brunswick, 7 kids from the Bathurst High School Basketball team and the coach's wife was killed in a head on with a transport, its a small city here and was affected terribly, 1 of the kids was my cousin, another a co-worker. what a tragic event that rocks a community
  18. sweeet find!!! I love the 2 doors
  19. Welcome!! the jeep club around here is not so friendly lol, I have a jeep, but they wouldn't want me to go with my pathy, its a shame.
  20. The body is ruff, the frame is good and solid. now that I got it started i realized I need a water pump, after the pump i'm replacing the axle in the rear for a d44, getting new gears, doing the spring over lift, then getting lockers for front and rear, then I think i'll start looking at the body. I'm liking the fiberglass tubs, no rust ever sounds appealing.
  21. i did both drivers and passenger side on mine, an 88, the drivers side was relatively easy to come off, the passenger side was b!@tch, I also had to use an extension but I ended up cuttin my hands up and doing sum cursin.
