  1. Engine is knocking a lot, pulled off intake, found one butterfly on top of another, both screws missing. The rest of the screws were loose. Pulled the lower off and found one screw sitting on top of a valve, cant finde the other. What would a screw damage that would cause a bad topend knock, and at what point is it worth grabing a salvage engine? Also, anyone know of any resonably priced engines? Thanks in advance. PS. Anyone who hasn't, go locktite your screws, it took me 10 minutes to get the upper off to access the screws. Don't be a jackass like me and put it off. ugh.
  2. I got fskced. Driving this morning and the engine started knocking. Pulled over, had AAA tow home. pulled off the upper intake. 2nd from the fire wall valve was on top of 1st valve. two screws missing. Found one of them on top of a valve. Used a magnet to get it out. Put it back together and it still sounds like @!*%. What/where do these screw cause the failure? This @!*% pisses me off.
  3. Local Napa Parts had 2 in stock All set
  4. They're the wrong bolts. 15mm in a 14 box.
  5. I can work it through the strut, knucle no way
  6. I tried hittin it, still wouldn't go. With the Top knuckle bolt out, I can rotate the knuckle out from the strut, the the bolt wont go through that. wtf
  7. Installed my lift a few weeks go, and decided to let it settle a bit before aligning it. I order the camber bolts from tirerack. The box says 14mm on it, but they do not fit through the hole in the knuckle. Anyone know if this is the wrong one, or any tricks? Here is a picture of the box. I'm going to Advance Auto after work because they have some, hopefully the right one. Thanks! J
  8. Precats, since they're smaller, heat up before the main, reducing emissions while the main heats up.
  9. I just finished my ac/kyb install 20minutes ago. I noticed while lowering the jack, the suspension did not sag at all with the weight of the vehicle. So the struts are topped out just sitting there. Is that normal? It feels stiff as hell. Thanks, James
  10. my 3.5 has 3 cats, two precats in the exhaust manifolds, and one main after the y-pipe. I know the precats in the 3.5 are notorious for getting clogged up, think due to burning oil. Headers get rid of precats. Not sure if this help, just throwing it out there. J
  11. Wow dude. I'm impressed. I'm pretty anal when it comes to wiring, and that has my seal of approval Very nicely done! J
  12. I ordered my AC spring a week ago from sunday (3.8.09) I was amazed with the $60 ups ground shipping on a 50lb box. Thats a 100% markup. Well I paid, and waited until yesterday. I called and the lady on the phone said, "I'll have shipping send them out today". That's pretty lame for the amount they charge for shipping. If I hadn't called, I doubt they would have shipped. Her excuse was "Orders get shipped out first come first serve. So we probably had a lot of orders" I hate people. I should have just canceled my order, or bitched more, but I just want them already. Rant over, James
  13. Has anyone had theres aligned without the bolts, and were they able to get the camber right? Also, rear coils, did you need to open the brake line, to get it out of the bracket, to get the axel low enough to remove the springs? Thanks, James
  14. Not to hijack, but why would you bleed the calipers if you never opened the system? Thanks, James
  15. Cattman These guys make them, though theyre for a sidways motor. I don;t see them on their site, but I've talked to the guy before, seems pretty cool. Give him a call, and see if he's got anything. The stock manifolds and precats weigh a ton too.
  16. The headers I had replaced manifolds, precats and y-pipe with headers and y-pipe. Ditched the precats.
  17. Stillen headers are junk, atleast on the maxima's. If you google I'm sure you'll find a ton of posts. Hotshot(holeshot?) and cattman made headers for the 3.5l maxima's. I had the hotshot's on mine. With just the headers, stock exhaust, and kn intake, I put down 234 to the wheels. I don't think hotshot is still around but definitely look into cattman. I know the engine configuration is different, but they may make something for the pathfinder.
  18. I have never had a problem with them. I had one on my maxima for 3 years without a CEL. I got mine here. http://www.o2simulator.com/ I got this; Universal o2 simulator dual output $40.00 Removed 2 precats from the maxima, so I used the dual output simulator to sim the two sensors James
  19. Just a quick thing about the oil filters. I only use Nissan filters (and IIRC Wix/napa also have this) because of the check valve (oneway valve) inside the filter. It keeps oil pressure in the system while the engine is shut off. My 02 maxima had timing chain noise on startup after sitting over night. The check vavle should keep pressure on the tensioners, so you don't get any noise. James
  20. I just replaced mine with a purolator. Haven't heard anything bad with them. Just can't trust a fram James
  21. That was it. I had checked it before, and it's not that low, but that fixed it. I think they should have put the min line a little higher Thanks alot James
  22. Hello everyone. New to the forum, I just picked up a 2004 Pathfinder SE, and just saying hello with a question. Not an off-road question... The ebrake light is always on. I took out the center counsel and pressed the switch by hand, and the light remained on. Is the light connected to anything else that would turn it on, or is it probably a bad switch? Thanks, James
