This might be off topic, but I like the "Think With Your Dipstick" commercials.

Are you guys familiar with the 03 and 04 SE gauge cluster? it has a silver gauges with weak green lighting and an orange needle. It's fine in the day, but not very attractive at night. After reading this I was thinking about putting some brighter white or blue or red led's in. Has anyone modded the 03-04 SE?

I'm pretty sure that the original tires were 255 65 R16. I'll let the guy know that he can come down and test fit them to the hub. There shouldn't be a tire size problem right?

Hi there, I am now in the market for a skid plate. I just tore the plastic splash guard while on a run with SteeevO and his group this weekend. I think the AC plate looks like a pain with no oil filter window, and modifying it myself is kind of out of the question. How long do we have to wait for these to hit the market? Looking forward to purchasing if I can afford the shipping.

Well I finally got the part from Automotive Customizers. I was going to drive home and put it on when I saw that the other strut had gone out and sprayed hydraulic fluid everywhere. I called AC back and told them that I didn't want to use these rancho struts because I now had two blow out in like 2 months of use. They agreed to take back the two broken ones, as well as the new one they just sent me and switch to KYB's. I parked the pathfinder and borrowed a car while I waited for the KYB's. I took a picture of the one that broke first and you can see that the whole top of the strut popped off. I got the KYB's on and it feels much better. I don't seem to have that rough topping out anymore. Also the KYB's look like they are built different at the top of the strut, the top is welded on differently and it looks like they won't pop off like the rancho's did. Volrick at AC has been very helpful and fair by agreeing to replace the broken parts, (I pay for shipping) but this has been a major PITA as I am not very skilled mechanically and it takes me a long time to do this work. Fortunately I have a friend who is a pro at this and can help me with it.

The first pic is at my freind's house in Bakersfield. You are right on, the second is the mt high parking lot. That was late Jan right before all the good storms. I'm in Orange County and I would like to try to go on that run, especially with other Pathfinder owners. Ill look it up on the ruggedrocks board.

Hi, I think I fixed the picture. I bought the Pathfinder in April 08 after selling my 2003 Chevy Silverado. I bought the chevy when it when it was new and after the 3yr 36k warranty ran out, I couldn't afford to keep getting work done on on it. (transmission failed at 69K, tons of other problems). I wanted to give the American car manufacturers a chance to work on their quality control before I gave them any more of my hard earned money. Too bad they get it anyways with all the bailouts. I had a 96 2door hardbody 5spd before the chevy and I loved it. The only reason I sold it is because I didn't fit in it. I'm 6'4". The pathy is a good compromise though. I'm comfortable, and I love the pathfinder. I used to get stuck all the time in my 2wd, open diff, chevy. With the Pathfinder I do way better even in 2hi. The 4wd is amazing. I almost got stuck the other day in some desert clay mud that clogged the AT tire tread, but I kept going and made it out.

4x4parts said they will handle the replacement. I have to buy a new one, pay for shipping, put it on, then send the old one back and they will refund me the cost.

Hi, I have been using this site for information for a while now. This site helped me find the 2" AC lift and the correct tire and wheel sizes for my 2004 SE. Thanks to everyone who posted in the R50 forum. You guys have an amazing amount of knowledge on this vehicle. Here is a picture of my ride with the AC lift, 15x8 steel wheels and 31" BFG AT/KO tires. *pic removed*

I bought it from 4x4parts.com late Dec. Arrived early Jan. Installed early feb. I called them this morning and they said they would call me back. I'll post more info and definitely show pics of the bad strut when I get it out. Anyone know what the warranty might be like from rancho or the 4x4parts.com? Thanks.

Well I didn't know it was possible, but I think I have broken a strut. Sorry about my terminology but I don't know all the technical names for strut components. I installed Rancho struts on my 2004 SE, Just over a month ago, I have done some very light trail riding and off road, but nothing hard and I have been very gentle since the kit is new. I noticed a clunking sound last week and had someone else drive the car while I looked for the noise. I see the passenger strut moving in a direction that it never should be moving. It is especially noticeable in reverse when braking. when applying and releasing the brakes in reverse I see and hear the strut moving and the piston rod is pivoting at the point where it enters the strut body or chamber. This picture might help explain how it is moving. Any comments or suggestions on what to do? I knew I should have gotten the KYB's.

Since someone else is having the same problem, I'll post what I found. This TSB describes what is happening on my Tcase, I will upload it in two parts so that it fits under 150K per post. I read the TSB but have not done anything yet, I have been checking the fluid and it is staying pretty full, just a little leak out of the front of the case. Does anyone think this should be fixed ASAP or can this wait a while. By the way I have the front hubs unlocked most of the time. Pages_1_2_from_NTB04_067.pdf
