  1. Khrrrmm... so I have been seeing poor gas mileage since acquiring my QX4 and my only check engine code has been for misfires. I replaced my spark plugs, wires, dist cap, and rotor which sent the misfire code packing. Now I have a catalytic converter system too lean code. Naturally I ripped off everything from the pre cats back. So after inspecting the main cats it appears they are okay. I couldn't figure out a way to inspect the engine side of the pre cats so I went for a spin and got them nice and hot. Here are pictures of the glow pattern: Driver side Passenger side I am running with both o2 bank 1&2 sensor 2's disconnected. With just pre cats I am no longer experiencing an issue where the vehicle hesitates between 2-3k rpm, opening up beyond 3k rpm. I now have smooth power thru the upper rpm, smooth and loud as crap. I have been reading that gutting the pre cats is fine as long as the main cats are not gutted; the nox is still taken care of and emissions won't be a problem. Nissan, along with many other manufacturers, sought to obtain ULEV status by using pre cats but for the most part they are unnecessary and cause problems being so close to the exhaust manifold. I am sort of at a loss here. I don't know what to do.. I am wondering, can a failing o2 sensor 2 give a false lean code? Has anyone gutted the pre cats? Has anyone replaced the pre cats? 3. Here are Dicks Creek and Helton Creek updated for better quality. Helton Creek https://justjunk000.wistia.com/medias/kizvmt58dz Dicks Creek https://justjunk000.wistia.com/medias/ltby08oh7z Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Most of it is state wildlife management areas. When I first got my jr50, I searched "north georgia jeep trails" and found Dicks Creek and Charlie's Creek. I then began searching for secluded water falls in my area on google which naturally include trails and beautiful drives. My not so successful endeavors have included trails found from space with google earth. I have found a few really great spots with google earth but the vast majority are locked up/private land.. My trucks suspension needs help. Struts, shocks, springs, and a plethora of bushings have to be replaced. Until I get that all taken care of I'll have to stay closer to home. Luckily there are some phenomenal spots inside city limits and also a few just a hop away! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. We are in the same boat. Please let us know when you figure out the source of your misfires. I replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor trying to get rid of mine. I can't tell mine is running rough at all. I can only tell when I take my foot off the brake and the vehicle begins to roll, and as it is rolling from the little bit of power the engine at idle gives to the wheels, I can feel it missing. Maybe it's the whole distributor? I watched a thing about a Nissan Quest, which apparently has our same distributor, and the failing bearings inside were the cause of his troubles. 6. Here is our trip to Charlies Creek in Hiawassee Georgia. It was beautiful and a little bit more challenging. When I say challenging I mean that a minivan would have to choose its lines wisely https://justjunk000.wistia.com/medias/nuxjsya57a A good free video host is hard to come by...

  10. An iPhone 6 and a windshield mount made out of a coat hanger and a suction cup. I am working on getting something better and i really want to make a mount to go on the outside of the windshield. I am thinking about a gopro also.
  11. Here is our trip to Helton Creek Falls in Union County Georgia. We had a blast and it was cold!! The road leading to the falls was traversable in a Honda Civic.. but it was beautiful. There looked to be a plethora of awesome creekside campsites that are only accessible by a steep hike. I am the type of person who likes seclusion and ruggedness so the trips we've made so far don't fit the mold. I do appreciate the lack of danger having my babies with me though. The most secluded and rugged spot I know of is actually just outside of my city's limits. Maybe this weekend we will go there. https://vimeo.com/202976867 Next video will be of this past weekend at Charlie's Creek and Denton Branch Falls, ridiculously beautiful! 12. Yeah +1 for throttle body cleaning. Mystery Oil is good for slowly cleaning deposits and freeing up components gently. Good stuff and I've not personally heard of any negatives, besides the extra $'s. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  15. I'm going to supply power to the tc motor and confirm the noise is in fact coming from the motor. So my new question is, has anyone else noticed a noise coming from that motor at low engine RPM and idle while in 4wd? It's not particularly loud or "rough" sounding, just a whining sound.. like a winch but softer.. Thank you Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. So I noticed a faint high pitched buzzing coming from my transfer case about a month ago. I chalked it up to the ps pump whining from low oil but today, half way thru Charlie's Creek, I can clearly hear the sound of a DC motor making noise. Now I'm not %100 sure it's the tc motor, maybe I'm wrong! Here is what's happening: ::IN DRIVE:: I switch the tc selector from "2wd" to "auto". -no sound and normal operation I switch the tc selector from "auto" to "lock" -a whining sound comes from the tc ::IN PARK/NEUTRAL:: I switch the tc selector from "2wd" to "auto". -no sound and normal operation I switch the tc selector from "auto" to "lock" -no sound and normal operation I select DRIVE -in about one second the sound fades in I select PARK/NEUTRAL -the sound stops immediately Apparently I have the stupid atx14... but I have an entire spare sitting in my storage building from my previous trans install. So what do you guys think? What more testing shall I perform? Has anyone ever changed the tc motor before? Michael Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  20. When you say slips from 2nd to 3rd, do you mean a long transition when engaging the 3rd gear? I believe a slow/long transition from 2nd in to 3rd can be caused by a valve body issue. I'm going to go have a look at the FSM for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
