  1. I just did my second oil change on my wd21. I pull the new gasket off and lube it up and put it back on the filter, clean the mating surface with a rag, fill the filter about 1/3 with oil then just hand tighten it on.

When I did my first oil change on it I didn't clean the surface at all, just removed the old and slapped the new on. It didn't leak even though it was probably a pretty dirty seal(I couldn't see what the hell I was doing).

  2. Some new noises coming from my Pathfinder but I can't tell what they are because they only occur while I'm driving. First noise is a slight grinding/metal on metal rubbing sound when I turn the wheels to the left, usually between 10-30 mph. Wheel bearing/hub?

Second noise is a very similar noise, almost like a bad bearing, that only occurs in 3rd gear at around 3k rpm (haven't noted the speed).. How do I check my wheel bearings in my own driveway?

Jack the tire up, grab grab the wheel by 3 and 9 o'clock and wiggle back and forth. Then repeat but at 12 and 6. It shouldn't have too much play in it. If it's loose the bearing is most likely bad. Check all four, and if one is bad it will probably be looser than the others. The only other way I know of to check them would be pulling them out and cleaning/checking them for wear. At that point though you might as well just replace them.

  3. no headers and it has ca plates on it, it has Jim Conner racing ucas and double shocks haven't gotten underneath it yet

5spd, manual windows got it from a guy in OntarioCa

Damn that sounds sweet. How much for it? This one was 500 and had a bad ecu. Would have been a great parts vehicle.

  4. starting in on the new 88 I picked up a week ago, supposedly a tbelt was installed and it wouldn't start.

My driveway is starting to look like a pathfinder convention 2 88s a 94 and a 95, the 94 is going to be my parts vehicle.

That's awesome haha. I was hoping the one I saw on Craigslist with lots of aftermarket stuff would last till tax time, it was on there for like 2 months, but the ad was taken down a week ago.

  5. If it's auto check the fluid for the milkshake. If it's good make sure to install a new trans cooler and bypass the radiator. I'm not sure if the 02 has that problem but better safe than sorry.

  6. That's what I had thought from the start of everything that has happened but I had been leaning away from it being the transmission as well. It had been running the best it has run since I bought it from the shop next to where I was working at the time so then for this to happen out of the blue when she has been runnigh so good just has me stumped. I am going to try & get a video as I start it to help with what exactly is doing & then will post it up here. When uploading a video do you do same as if it were a picture being uploaded?

Yeah I believe so. I uploaded a video a few weeks ago and I'm pretty sure I did it like a photo.

  7. lol... guess your lock cylinder is fubar'd Has the truck ever been broken into or stolen?

If it has it wasn't reported. I remember reading somewhere about a mod for the steering lock, maybe someone tried that but messed up. My steering doesn't lock at all and the little button on the lock cylinder does nothing. I can pull the key out while it's running, which has proved useful haha. I'm always forgetting things in the house, so I can just pull the key out to run inside and leave it running. I always set the alarm and put a steering wheel lock on it if I'm away from it for more than an hour.

  8. Any flat spot on the frame, as far forward and back as you can get. Lift it a few inches off the ground, then shake the heck out of it by bouncing on the bumpers front and back to check stability. That's good for pretty much any frame on vehicle. Great for checking stability on jack stands as well.

I've put my ranger on this lift a few times and we could never get them far enough apart, it was always super sketchy when we would shake test it first.

  9. Started school today, gonna change my oil in the shop. Haven't put the wd21 on a lift yet. The service manual I have for the 1989 d21/wd21 only shows the d21 lifting points on a 2 post lift, which are on the frame rails right behind the front wheel wells and up against the leaf spring shackles.

Where's the pest spot for my pathfinder? Does the d21 leaf spring shackle line up with the lower link on the wd21? Is the weight distribution similar to the d21?

  10. I found an 88' on craigslist with a bad ecu for $600 with lots of goodies on it I would like to throw on my 89'.

Nissan pre runner style bumper, stainless magna flow exhaust, thorley headers(it has a 97' 3.0 swapped in it), tubular upper control arms, sway away torsion bars, HD rear coils, and a limited slip(mines open). Seems like a great price for all that stuff plus all the other parts I could pull over the years. Just wondering what I could put to use from it.

  11. Replaced the door handle so I can open it from the outside

I just did this last week, it's already &^%*ing loose and hard to open again!! I'm gonna lock tire the adjuster in place next time I'm in there. Or get the correct plastic piece that seems to be missing, that's probably a better idea.

  12. Installed a Dual 300W sub that the PO threw in with the truck when I bought it. He picked a really bad ground for it and when I tried his wiring it was in protect mode. Moved the ground wire and it works really good! Had a chance to open the radio up and check his wiring job.

  13. I don't think anybody watched this because of the thumbnail haha, apparently my truck will start with just about anything that fits in the ignition, including nail clippers!

  14. Becareful with the impact on the drain plug, use a propane torch to heat up around it and use a breaker bar. Have you been able to remove the fill plug first or are you going to fill it up through the shifter hole on top?

    Sent from inside my potato

I was thinking about just doing it through the shifter and leaving the fill alone. I tried propane and a breaker already, maybe I didn't get it hot enough. I have yet to try after a long highway drive maybe that'll do the trick.
