  1. Was it Baker North?

Some of the 2013's had a few minor recalls and service campaigns.

If there were any for your VIN number I would like to think your dealer did them before selling the car to you, but it never hurts to have the VIN checked to make sure.

  2. Someone has been lying to her this whole time!! :ohno01:

I don't want to make any disparaging comments about the D/FW area, but you do seem to have an ususually high concentration of morons there. Either that or someone is sending them all to your dealership and telling them to ask for Rob...

She seemed surprised her Malibu wasnt a nissan. her exact words....."Oh, but I bought it here last year."

Which is true. She did. From our used car department.

  3. along with the timing chain guides noted in the above comment, things we see down here to check/be aware of:

    • Valve body failure due to coolant leak inside radiator on 04-07 models. Your 2008 should be ok but still recommend putting an external trans oil cooler on the truck.
    • Rear parking brake shoes wearing out.
    • Vehicles with automatic ac having the AC mode door actuator failing.
    • Center console rear pull out cup holder breaking - usually from children manhandling it. nissan has a stronger replacement.
    • Overhead consoles with drop down DVD players - the tabs holding it to the roof break and console falls down due to heat in summer and the weight of the console.
    • Rear hatch lift struts need replacing every 2-3 years. that rear gate is super heavy.
    • Cats on the manifolds failing. not as bad as some of the other vehicles, but no one seems to be able to build cats anymore.

That is also what I perfer.

The only trucks like ours I have seen with a real rumble to them are not street legal. On the 3.3L the cats alone drown out a lot of the noise before it ever gets to the baffles in the muffler.

high flow cats and eleting the resonator will give you some more 'vrooom' but IMHO that can be a lot of $$ for a small gain.

  5. I just wanted to say that this really pisses me off. I hate thieves. Of all the vehicles to take and all the people to do it to.

Total conjecture ON my part, but i would think they were after it for the parts to either do a repair repair of their own or to sell some of the parts, or to take it to a salvage yard to get quick $.

They may have towed it out with straps, but could have loaded it on a trailer after.

  6.

Thanks for your reply. Can fueling your vehicle with the engine running cause this code?

No. You need to replace the part.

You can minimize the number of times the light comes on though after clearing the code by only filling up 3/4 of the way.

Outside temp, humidity and pressure trigger this. Now that it is summer it will happen more often then when it is cold.

  7. I just read though the entire level 2 technical bulletin. wow that was long and complex.

On the Level 2 repair they pull the ABS sensors off for the repair. They might have not plugged on in all the way or something. You might want to have them recheck that.

It was nice that they did an alignment on the vehicle since the recall doesnt cover that. (or pay the dealership for one)

  8. The Vehicle Security System (VSS) control module may be dead or the fuse to it is blown. You will need a new transponder (key fob) for that vehicle in order to see if the VSS module is working.

Your local dealerer is mistaken, a close look in the computer will show that the R50 did not have a chip key until after production date 12/98. They key for your vehicle does not have an immobilizer what requires a chip key. Thus the key the locksmith did will work fine.
