I did the maxima alty switch on mine. It was a direct bolt on, only diff was the pulley so I just swapped pulleys and took back my core (you'll need an impact gun to swap pulleys). Oh and it was like 50 bucks less than the one for this pathy. Less money, more amps, no way to go wrong I figured. http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...ima++alternator -Colby

An old buddy of mine did his entire truck. It was a late 80's 4-runner. There are different grades of it from very thin to extremely thick. U can put it on with a roller or spray or have a pro do it. There r tons of option of quality. The thinner stuff is more like textured paint with slightly more durability than paint would have and the thicker stuff would prevent minor dings. If you're thinking of doing it yourself I know of a product called hippo liner that we've used at my work before and had good luck. Be prepared if you're going to do it yourself and you're a novice painter it'll be a VERY VERY messy job so take your time and PREP PREP PREP is KEY!! -Colby

Where'd you get your gibson? How much was it, and did it help alot? I had one on before on my mercury mountaineer and loved it but I didn't even know they were available for this car too! I too was thinking of doing the magna-flow cat so I would like to hear from peeps personal experience... -Colby

I totally agree should be stickied! Funny thing is I bought one of these for my rig but it's exactly the same as the one pictured here but my dash is a 94 so it doesn't fit level.. I'm going to fab something out of abs I think to make it work and look clean without cutting my dash up. Any ideas? -Colby

Just out of curiosity why does everyone want a tire on their safari rack? It seems like everyone and their dog wants to mount it up there. Wouldn't it be a huge pain if you got a flat and had to get it off your roof? I mean I could see if there is no where else to put it or it was bottoming out when you're off-roading and such or something similar. I tell ya I'd much rather have it in the back on a carrier (like my own) and leave the space on the roof for more gear. Am I the odd one for seeing it this way or what, or does anyone agree? -Colby

That's funny now I know I was right, because I was almost positve that it had a 19 before this topic started me second guessing ya know... -Colby

I've got a 94 V6 and I've run mine down to where the needle is below the mark and I've never seen a fuel light. I've only seen 19 gals go in the tank and then I was very scared I was going to run out because of how low the needle was. Guess I need to take a gas can with me someday and see where it really runs out at.. -Colby

That would be pretty cool, I think you should do it. You should steer more towards the Himalaya and away from the Avalanche... I've always hated those with a pasion..

Well that's all fine and dandy but I prefer the look of this style. Although you have done a fine job custom making your own. -
Marlin Crawler 58" Sliders for $149...

I know that I've been looking around at future upgrades and this style of rock slider is exactly what I'm planning using. I also was planning on just welding them to the frame. So DO IT man and take pictures so I can follow your lead! I was actually looking at the ones on this site, they r very similar. http://www.trail-gear.com/rocksliders.html Colby -
You're right they do look way cool, but who in their right mind would spend that kind of spread on them. Maybe at most $50 if I was feeling more impulsive than normal! I don't see it being that hard to dubplicate this in some fashion for a fraction of the cost though.

Thanks man!!
