I ran power through my firewall via a small hole I drilled for the main power on my rack lights and stereo amps. I drilled on the passenger side of the engine compartment close to some brake lines. I used a small plastic type grommet. I pretty much chose here because it was one of the only places easily drilled also because it came out in the best spot for me. No taking apart of the dash for me for that step but for installing switches or wiring it to a switch requires different degrees of "dash removal". So to answer your question no, unless you want to put in switches or something like that... I tried taking photos but they didn't turn out very good because it's too dark. I'll take pics tomorrow and post em up for ya.

I've got 4 straight out the front, 2 on the sides up close to the front for seeing things on the sides or whatever, 2 in the back for backin up of course, 2 on LED's on the sides in the back for long uses at the camp site without draining the battery, 4 more LED's facing in for loading or whatever I use em as running lights.. I did all the work myself. I cut ABS plastic to mount the LED's in and cut then welded vengeful's (dan) old rack stripped it painted tons and tons of prep. You think anyone would be interested in me doing a write up? Because if you think people would like it I'll do one. I took pictures from day one til today. -Colby

Ha thanks man! I've been working on this rack for weeks getting it prepped and it took me DAYS to wire it! I've got 14 lights on it... overkill?! I don't think so! I was thinking about doing a write up on it, I took pictures the whole way through.

Lol, funny thing is that I drilled mine after reading grims comments in another post saying he did and it hasn't leaked yet. I stood there for quite some time with the drill in my hand contemplating shall I drill or not. I have to tell you it wasn't easy putting a drill to my perfectly good roof. I went over every other option but the amount of wires I needed up there it was the only way for me. So I drilled. -Colby

Drilled the roof in the rear. I had them come through right where the passenger rear speaker is. I had power ran in the back for amps and decided that'd be the best place for me. Used a grommet then siliconed the hell of it. These pics are before I cleaned up the spaghetti wire mess. I just finished the enitre install last night.

I think this thread should be brought back from the dead! I want to see updated pics of everyones interior mods from top to bottom. I just installed a cb and am about to install 14 lights mounted to a safari rack relayed and everything the way it should be (pics will come soon I promise). I want to see where everyone mounted their switches for lighting or for any other mod. -Colby

Wow pretty awesome idea! How do you think they'll last in yor gauges? My experience with inkjets is that the ink fades rather quickly. You could make them then take them to a print shop and have them printed with higher quilty ink so they don't fade or even take em to a sign shop and do the same for pretty cheap I'd think. Hell of an idea though. -Colby

Yeah my gut was tellin me it was the same thing because of how you though it was shroud problem and it sound like something rattling inside there you described the sound I remember clear as day to the T. Good luck, sounds like you've pretty much got things under control so long as you get the broken piece out ha what a pain man. I was going to do the same procedure but decided against it for not knowing whether the valves had collided with the pistons because my belt had broken ya know. Let's just say it was a smart thing to do on my end because after swapping motors I found that they had indeed made un-friendly contact. I'm glad my misfortune could be of some use to someone else and help them avoid the same fate. -Colby

Ha it is really stupid actually. The funny thing is that when I did that I was just barely getting into using this forum for R&D ya know . I had actually bought the stock one brought it home and was about to install it. Then I decided to do a lil research luckily just in time before installing hehe. I then proceeded back to autozone to exchange for the maxima alt which I believe was a 94 or 95. Swapped them and they gave me $50! I was like ? Less money more power what a no-brainer. Everything went smoothly fast forward to today, I'm still sportin a maxy alty hehehe. It was thanks to people giving their input here that I benefited from it. THANKS PEOPS!! -Colby

Sounds EXACTLY like the sound I was experiencing with my rig. After having a friend do my timing belt (huge mistake) I heard that same noise you just described while on my way out of town. I was baffled because it was making noise but continued to run perfectly. It turned out to be the tensioner stud had broken off becuase the timing belt was on too tight. I drove it for about 50 miles or so because my friend kept saying that there was nothing wrong and I was in between my home and destination. Then the next moring I took it to a small shop not even a 1/4 mile from the place I was staying the mechanic said he couldn't look at if for a week so I figured to drive it back the very short distance but it was just the last straw it need to SNAP while barely idling around a corner!! Timing belt exploded. Bye bye motor. Long story short now I've got a different motor. So I'd pull the timing cover off and check ASAP if I were you. -Colby

If I were you I'd replace your bushings for sure asap. It's somethin that I put off and put off forever thinking there were lots of other things that were higher on my priority list but after doing it a couple weeks ago if I had known the difference would've been that substantial it would've been the FIRST thing I did. It's like driving a new truck! Seriously man it's worth it. -Colby

bad bushings + marginal shocks + aggressive tires = weird effects on the rear wheels? I just replaced all the bushings on my rear and WOW what a difference! But mine had the famous drunk rear end wobble ya know haha -Colby

I know my M/T's make a similar effect when coming to a stop at a very slow roll. But only around 10 mph or less.
