  1. Thanks for the tip!! And yes, I am going to go this route. You did EXACTLY what I had envisioned. Awesome, thanks.
  2. After the first trip into the woods me and the wife were driving home and pulled up along side a new Pathfinder. I pointed it out to her. She said "It doesn't have any bumpers" I said yea, that's not made to take in the woods. Hell, I don't even think it was made to get dirty. Sad. Ever since then I kept thinking of her no bumper statement. I am trying to get her into off roading by letting her drive through the woods on the weekends, her confidence builder is me assuring her she can't break it. The bumpers and tree's get well acquainted. Hence her bumper statement. I find myself now looking at the new ones thinking how would I add tube bumpers, which I am a fan of. Cut into the ground effects, etc..Nightmare.No thanks.
  3. I think that's it. Now that you mention it I was looking in the right rear fender well one day and heard a whistling noise coming from the tank. And everytime I fill up I open the cap and the pressure is like a hurricane whipping across the atlantic ocean, ripping everything to shreds when it hits land fall!!! Ok maybe not that bad, but close.
  4. Yes Precise, those are awesome pics, and that's exactly what I am trying to do.That inner fender area looks perfect for this project This setup is EXACTLY what I want to do. Thanks for sharing this!
  5. Last night I attempted to take the fender off. After the brush guard, turn signal, still I have to take off the bumper to get those last 2, the wife was like "not tonight buddy, drop the wrench and get in here, it's V day" lol. I get home about 10:30pm every night. She is used to me going straight to the garage until 2 or 3 am. So the fender dismantle had to wait. But I did get good view inside of the fender when the signal was out. It was clean and dry in there. So I took my heat gun and bent an old leaf blower tube to go into an access hole and fed it in the empty area. I then used a Rigid wet/dry vac dust filter to plug one of the other air holes that was next to it. It seemed to me like this fender was made for a hidden snorkel. Everything is there and in place. It just needs to be utilized. So I plugged the fender gap with a shop rag for now, foamed the pipe and masking taped the other air cleaner pipe. At this point I was on my second bottle of wine and couldn't find my gorilla or duct tape, lol I drove it to work and ran smooth so it is getting plenty of air from in there. I should get off work at 1 today so I am going to dip in the woods behind this Business Center and test it out. Any puddle makes my truck choke so I will see today how well the inner fender area works. If all goes well then I will start a permanent install, minus the leaf blower tube, lol.
  6. When you get a green light and it feels like you are driving this. The people behind you think you are driving this too
  7. I opened my door to talk to the wife one time, I was in the mud and she was asking about a tree or something. My foot slipped off the clutch. 5 pounds of mud dripping down the panel lol. Not sure I would ever take a door off.
  8. I like this one Here is an inner fender snorkel compartment they make for Heeps
  9. I was thinking the same about the windshield area. I will pull the fender off tonight and take a peek in there. Mainly I want to see if there is any tell tell signs of if there has been any muddy water in there.
  10. I always wondered, why do they take their doors off to go offroading? I get enough mud inside of my truck, I would hate to even think about a trip in the woods with my doors off. Rigid wet-vac would retire.
  11. Welcome! Like someone said this site IS better than any manual. And if you read the thread titled "You know you drive a Pathfinder when." You will know we all share all of the basic funny problems. This site is a blessing for when you have problems, and you will have problems. Spoiler alert; you will always have something broken, never enough or the right tools, never enough money and/or spare time, enough room to work, etc. lol.
  12. Slap on the rear on V day, lol, quieted her right up.
  13. This morning I was in the garage installing new Stabilizer links. I heard a high pitched noise coming from outside. It sounded like a small dirt bike racing down the road. I climbed out from under the truck and walked to the door. The noise wasn't coming from outside, it was coming from the back of my pathy, seemed like the driver side, not sure. I gave it the tune up slap on the side and the noise stopped. Now we play the wtf was that noise game...
  14. When EVERY time you hit the trail, you have to wait on THIS guy!!
  15. I am curious about this leather covered piece of iron.....
  16. I am happy to report, after being stranded at Stuckfest last week, I now have an 8000 pound hand winch, 2 14' 8500 lb. hooked tow ropes and a pair of rubber boots. I'm ready now. Well almost. Hi Lift Jack coming soon, for those times when there are no tree's around.
  17. Nice. I thought about running it to the windshield vent area but I thought when it rains or I'm slinging mud, I am going to have the same issue. I just need a dry area for the engine to breath from.
  18. I am almost ready to begin my snorkel project. After flying through a puddle at work last night and driving my stuttering Pathy down the road for 5 min until the engine vaporized the water it sucked in, I am ready to snorkel. Ok, the snake running up the windshield looks cool but I'm not going to be going that deep, ever.So I have been thinking of doing a reverse hood scoop type of breather. But then I ran across these pics last night. So I am wondering if it is something that would work well, using the space between the fender and inner to shield the intake from sucking in water. That or this... Like I said the big snorks look cool but it's more than I need maybe. Opinions on this please.
  19. Jawga Boys. Rolling like a Redneck is a badass tune. It's like hip hop I guess but they sing about mud slinging, and quote "Jacked up trucks with the straight pipe smoke stacks" lol
  20. Replaced my stabilizer bar links. What a difference !!! If I would have known $12 would fix my steering and handling issue I would have done it months ago. Durp.... You can see on the right side one of the bottom bushings were missing and the bolt starting wallowing out the hole. The spacers on the original bolts were rusted solid so I had to use a small hacksaw and bolt cutters to break the bolts and get them out of there. Made me late for work AND broke the tip of my bolt cutters. I was just at Harbor Freight this morning and seen they were selling a sawzall for 20 bucks. I said nah I'll wait until I make a snorkel later this week. Lol, now I wish I bought the darn thing.
  21. Lol. Just kidding you. Just a helpful tip, add your truck info on your profile so when you are asking questions about something people will know what model you have, etc.,
  22. My lunchtime nap...You know when you are getting old when you look forward to naps.
  23. I'm too sporadic with my wheeling. Usually when I'm going to work in Tampa I scan the woods I pass looking for trail heads and jump in there. I scout around looking for places to hunt when I have free time, whenever the hell thats going to be. But I work 6 days a week and half of the seventh day is for Jesus and the last half is for the wife. So actually (planning) a trip is impossible, so alone it is. Thank's for the link though.
  24. Lol, I was thinking the same, I already lock a d handle shovel to my cargo rack. Might as well put my titanium drill bits to use.
