  1. Awesome. I'll clean the garage out and get ready for a late night rebuild.
  2. Ran it dry of oil, engine started locking up on the freeway. Luckily near an Autozone. 5qts later, purrs like a kitten, smokes like a forest fire. Time to put some new gaskets on I think.
  3. I am running into several issues ALL surrounding around my TB and lines/hoses. I want to remove it and rebuild it. The reason I ask level of pain is because I work 6 days until late at night. I have a couple hours I could tinker before sleep. I need to know if this is going to be done in a couple hours or not. Haynes manual says to disconnect throttle cable from inside the truck, I'm wondering if that is necc. as I can unbolt it and slide a piece of plywood under it to work on it under the hood.
  4. I was just thinking, it may be a loose connection. As I said before, it hard starts sometimes, other times it will fire right up. Road and engine vibration could be shaking something loose.
  5. I ran the diagnostic, I got code 51 , injector circuit. Makes sense as it is hard starting sometimes. Anyone know more info on this code and what I need to do to begin fixing this issue?
  6. I reset the timing, the stuttering at 3k was worse before I reset the timing, still does it though, not in neutral but when I am driving. I will check codes Wed. when I have a free morning.
  7. Over the past few days my Pathy is taking a while to start, as in the engine turns but it won't fire up until 5 sec. or more has passed. And when it does it doesn't fire right up, it struggles. I haven't had time to look at the ECM yet, maybe wed morning I will have a chance. The engine started going south when I put it in the drink and drowned my ECM. I replaced it, the truck fired right up a couple weeks later, but at first the only issue I had was it won't go over 3k rpm when driving it. Now a few days ago the starting issue came up. Any clue to what's going on? I don't want to go crazy with this thing because it is going to be full on Lawn truck in 2 weeks. I'm not wheeling it any more, I basically just need it to start when I turn the key lol.
  8. Oh, and no it won't go fast 3000 rpm. I might shoot a video on the way to work
  9. I cleaned the maf early on. Filter is good. I will check codes in the morning. Not a bad idea.
  10. After putting my Pathy in the drink, I replaced the ECM, now it is stuttering at 3k rpm, it just jumps and won't go above that. What's the common issue with this stuttering?
  11. Since I was a kid I have always wanted this, VW Swimwagon. I am going to find one one day. The way I drive the Pathy, I think I think I own this already, haha.
  12. I will post pics but I took my flares off. I had bigger beefier flares. Looked cool, but I took them off in the garage one day to clean the line off the fender(bored) and the Pathy looked meaner. I am also a mudder, so they were hindering muh mud baths. So they do a great job keeping things inside the fenders.
  13. That's my size of choice. I like the 31x10.50. I always envy the look of the 12.50 but the skinnies have been good to me.The next monster I build will be a diff. story
  14. I finally installed my EBay-New ECU. Started right up after 3 weeks down. Pathy didn't like the swim I gave it. Started right up, then wouldn't go into gear. I had to start it in gear over and over to break the clutch or whatever loose. All the way home it was stuttering and running rough. When I got home an hour later I noticed the idle was at 600. My Pathy doesn't fare well below 1k rpm. So I reset the timing and raced off to work. Ran great, but a little hard to start. It turns over for about 5 seconds before it catches now. And sweet baby Jesus, the windows were closed the whole time it sat!!!Full of that yummy Florida swamp water. The smell......It will be me, a water hose, and some Dawn early in the morning. But my Pathy is back home, that makes meh happy.
  15. Received my ECU in the mail this morning. So excited. My poor Pathy has been down for a couple of weeks after I took it swimming. Diagnostics shows the ECU as being the only problem, hopefully it will work. Going to drive to where it is sitting, an hour from my house. Keeping my fingers crossed. I miss driving my rust bucket.
  16. I've always liked these AG tires, I am curious if I could actually drive on the street on these
  17. Picture me jumping in this interior after I just got out of the mud hole. Usually after a trip in the woods I have to water hose the floor board out, I can't imagine how I would begin to clean this out
  18. FINALLY ORDERED MY ECU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My god!!!! it was ridiculous trying to find that thing. My wallet hates NAPA, I did not under any circumstances order it from there, but they were going to charge $388 for a refurb. I ordered one from eBay for $80, but it was a California Emmisions blah blah something or another. Finally found one this morning on eBay, the exact one I need. $159, be here on wed. I miss my damn Pathy. I know the guy that posted the part sold it so fast he is probably in the JY hunting his gold mine he think he found. So I am excited to get my rust bucket back on the road.
  19. OMG, looks almost like where I got stuck. Awesome picture though. And true.
  20. Yep, Landsdcaping. Yea, it's going to pull the trailer as well. It is a DD, I have another car that I put the plates on only if the Pathy is down. I am attached to it, but I think you guys are right. It's time to move on to another, more sound Pathy. Only so much duct tape and roofing tar to go around. It will put off the business a couple a weeks buying another car, but I think it will be best in the long run.(..hears Taps in the background)
  21. As some of you know, I took my Pathy swimming last weekend and fried the ECU. I went to Napa this morning for price check. $388+$78 core. That is beyond ridiculous. Ebay has the one I need for about $160. Add overnight to that, which brings me to the situation. I am moving to a new house next weekend, it's about 30 min away. I was, of course, going to use my truck to pull a UHaul. I am unable to buy the ECU until next tues, which means I have tp overnight it. So $200 bucks total. While my Pathy is down I have had time to think. I can't really do what I want to it because it is sooo eat up with rust. I have used over a gallon of roofing tar underneath it, holes were so big my fist could go through them, exhaust made my wife spew on the way home when we bought it. So I did what I could to patch the holes underneath it. I custom paint cars, went to school for it when I was in my early 20's. It kills me that I can't spray what I want on it , once again, the rust is too extensive. Lack of a welder also limits most of the repairs I can do atm. Buying this house and everything else has left me completely broke, not to mention I have to rebuild my business in the next 6 weeks. What I am thinking is instead of buying the ECU, use that money to rent a UHaul box truck to move. After I am moved then strip the truck of the wheels/brush guard/Rack/ and sell or scrap the remainder. As we all know Pathfinders are all over Craigslist for 1000-1200 and plenty of them. No rust on most. So maybe I can start again with a better foundation. I would just have to wait about 3 weeks to buy it. I have until tuesday to decide. I'm just wondering what you guys think.
  22. The coating won't hurt it, unless it is a component that required a cooling fan. Many moons ago I used to rebuild and coat generator boards for military Humvees.
