  1. And cut off wheels and little grinding wheels for your drill are a couple bucks at the hardware store. That's what I used to cut through my Jeep springs, so it should be able to handle this project.
  2. Go on with your bad self, Mr. Wizard.
  3. Word is that the O2 sensor can make you truck do all sorts of crazy stuff. The sulfur smell could also indicate a crapped out catylitic converter.
  4. Try running the codes, its super super easy. Just read the following. Mr Jim saves the day again
  5. I haven't tried it, but I'd be suspect from stage one. An auto tranny has a bazillion tiny passages and such where I'd be skeptical that some sort of "magic fluid" would make a difference over regular service and attention.
  6. I'm all over the white shirt with black background, just cause I think it looks the cleanest. As for the pic, I'd say Jim's truck looks great and is really fitting to the origins of the club he founded. Plus, if you think about it, it covers all the gound and splits it halfway between the beginning (2 door's) and the latest (R50's). Plus, he's like a freaking god here. Even if he's a tad tied up lately. The 2005 Pathy won't be on the trail for years to come. And finally, I'd lean toward the "Find Your Own Path" slogan as really fitting for this group. I'd love to rub it in the face of the JeepSheep as much as the next guy, but really, that slogan is classy without the need to sound like a stuck up chump. I'd like people to actually approach me if they had questions about the truck, rather than thinking "check out that shirt- what an a$sh0le." Ya know what I mean?
  7. Depends on the quality of the vinyl sticker probably. I've seen some look kinda old and tired after a couple months.
  8. I've got some vacation time coming up over the next couple months so I figured it could be a good time to tackle some of the Pathy issues, mainly the slop in the front suspension. I've been shopping around online and came across Napa as having some pretty decent prices, which is nice since they are 1 block down the street. So I wanted to run some stuff by people that may have already done this work and see if these are reasonable prices: Front sway bar repair kit (supposedly all the bushings): $11.95 Ball Joints: upper $22.95 lower $29.99 Strut rod bushings: $14.95 Also, can the center link be repaired at all (I'm not sure that there's anything wrong anyways) or does it have to be replaced? I've found prices for this at around $89 but am thinking maybe I could find one in decent shape at the wrecker. Anyways, just looking for some thoughts and input. I'm just about ready for the old girl to drive like new before the next round of mods comes.
  9. Um, you'd probably want to ask a forum that covers Broncos.
  10. Or get slightly shorter size wipers depending on how much clearance you need.
  11. Cool. I just pulled the code again on my lunch break and got another "32"= EGR. Would you advise for or against grabbing a used O2 sensor from the boneyard (if I could even get the thing off without breaking it) just to see if I'm already there for other stuff? I realize I wouldn't really know if that one was good, but its worth a shot if I can grab one quick rather than paying out $100+ on a guess. And if so, do you know what size wrench? I'll bring my set, but wouldn't want to be suprised and have it be one size off of what I have.
  12. Mine did the same thing, the sound came and went for a year until I had the clutch replaced. It was finally getting to be pretty regular toward the end, but in the beginning it may only happen once or twice a week.
  13. I believe the O2 sensor would yield it's own code in addition (or instead of) the EGR code. That's kinda what I thought, but who knows. I have noticed a bit worse mileage to go with the gas smell on this recent tank, although its been all around town and no highway. I had some of the fuel lines replaced a few months back when it was in for the knock sensor, so that should be under control (hopefully). I ran with the "check engine" light yesterday for a few miles to work and back and it went back off and hasn't returned yet. I don't think its going to hurt it at this point, so I'm gonna dig into it over the weekend and hopefully replace the EGR. We'll see what happens...
  14. Really... So unplugging it won't cause any issues with it running? I may just go that route. That, or I have a day off in a few days, so I was thinking about hitting the wrecker to search for goodies and thought maybe I'd grab another EGR. Wonder if that's a wise idea. As for the issue of soot and clogging, that's what I figured from my days in auto shop years ago in high school. Also, do you think this could have anything to do with the gas smell that is happening? Seems like its from the exhaust. Both issues popped up about the same time.
  15. Seams to lean, or does lean? Have you verified by comparing measurments for both sides, front and back? If not, go from the ground to the center of the wheel well, or another convenient and consistent spot. Could (hopefully) be a figment of your imagination, which I'm sure you'd prefer.
  16. I'd run some fuel stabilizer through along with some fresh gas. A new fuel filter couldn't hurt. You may also want to think about checking and/or replacing your plugs after a few runs, especially since its bogging down. May just need to get some fresh fuel to clean the system, then get wound out on the highway to clear its throat.
  17. Like when my GF says "you j@cka$$, WTF do you think you're doing?!" or "Don't get hurt and come in limping or cut." That's when you know its love, when she knows the stupid things you'll try to pull and talks you out of it.
  18. I got a check engine light on the way home while just cruising along at 40mph in 4th gear. Its actually done the same thing on the same stretch of road a couple times recently, but then will turn off. So I pulled the codes and got a 32, which is "EGR circuit." But the diagnostic page on the old MrJim.net site says this only applies to California trucks. MrJim.net I'm wondering if this would mean an EGR valve or a sensor somewhere, and basically what to do. On another note, over the last couple days I've had a pretty nasty gas smell but mainly at start-up until its warm. It almost seems as if its coming from the exhaust. So... hmmm...
  19. I'd say definately just replace it all. Labor is the big $$$ here, so if you're already in there, just do it all. Wouldn't you be pissed if you did just the minimum, then the whole thing died a few months down the road?
  20. If they're aftermarket springs for the extra lift, who knows. Trial and error is easy, you could put them in quick and be sure.
  21. That's just bad. Actually, where is it located on the Pathy? I haven't changed mine yet, and haven't poked around to find it but should soon.
  22. I found one locally at Schucks/Checkers, so you might try there if that chain is local. It was like $45. But just about any shop that sells K&N's should be able to order one if they don't stock it. Most places seem to stock only the basic American cars, and I can't even locate one for our Acura CL which takes the same as an Accord. Special order time. But like Cuong says, I also noticed a bit more response.
  23. Bet they wanted like $50 "parts and labor" to replace that air filter. Way to take them for a ride for once!
  24. Guess you didn't see when he mentioned he changed his fuel filter above.
