  1. Sup guys. On top of doing my wheel bearings. My alternator under tension of the belt is squealing. Turns fine by hand. Put the belt on and tension it up, start thr truck for 30 secs. Loud squelch. Turn truck off and the alternator pulley is very hot to touch. Vs touching the actual engine block.

I'm trying to get it out. I have the front bracket and bolts removed. Got the plug out and charging cable. But there's another bracket with a wiring harness and a ground? Back there. Don't seem to have enough room to drop it south much more to get to those.

Any tricks to this? Kinda stuck and have work this week.

Btw, it's the original alternator or a OEM at least. Charges good so just going to replace the bearings in it. No need for a new one.

    Thanks!

  2. Unless you have a subframe drop. 31" is a good size. No worries about clearance cutting. And allows tuck on flex easily. Plus the stock size is mostly 29.5" unless you have the funky early LE wheels.

If you look at both my Pathfinder they both have 31" and run perfect down here. (The 99 with thr black wheels are actually 29" AT. But the muds are 31")

  3. If your in South Florida and would like a day wheeling trip. Lazy Springs is a decent lil place to have some fun at. It located south east of Ft. Myers, and north west of Immokalee. On Florida 82.

I does cost $10 per vehicle and $10 per person. Kinda redundant and can be $40 for a family of 3 to enter. Sucks, but they are improving it. They have fresh lakes for some fishing and swimming. With swings and slides and make shift beaches.

As for off roading. They have a nice long hills section and several other area's to play in. Actually a good area to first time wheel or field test your stuff.

If people see this and are interested. Post up, I can post some pics to show it. Also can help organize a event out there for us.

  4. OT here on the spring compresser story.

Back in 2002 I was putting in Eibach springs in my 92 Z28. I had just pulled out on of the stock coils compressed. Went to set it down when it let go. In the process it went to the left of me bounced off the wall of the house. Ended up across the street by the neighbors front door. A good 200ft away. It had hit and smash my thumb pretty good. Scared the bejesus out of me. I only use wall mounted for struts now. And if its on the car and center style compressor. I add a rachet strap as some kind of extra measures.

  5. The OME springs are drop shipped from ARB. When they say on order, call them back and clarify. OME springs for the Pathfinder usually only come into the states about twice a year. Spring time and Fall. See if you can clarify if they are in fact in the states or either shipping to the port or already shipping from ARB to you. If they are still in route to port, once in port can take anywhere from a 2-8 weeks to clear customs.

I only know all this, because I spent many hours on the phone trying to get mine. I ended up waiting two extra weeks for the rears. Which at that point, as soon as they cleared, ARB overnighted them to me.

This is all only because the Pathfinder just isnt as popular as Jeeps and Toyota's. So supply is only really brought in as they are ordered. With about 3-4 inventory sets to be delivered if a distributor sells a set.

  6. Cam and tune. Just research Maxima and 350Z forums. But with those mods can come trouble. So stay stock.

Honestly these engines are pretty bullet proof if taken care of. Many members have well over 150k on em no issues. My 3.3l Pathfinder has 212k miles.

Only thing some guys have is a little oil consumption. But just keep it topped and go on.

Here is a tip. Under your truck passenger side. About right under between the two doors there is a wiring harness. Inspect it. If its wet and reddish. Then it's the seal for a turbine sensor on the top of the transmission. With engine out. Replace that sensor and seal. It fails and thr fluid wicks it way through the harness to that spot.

Very common especially in the Xterra side.

  7. Why a rebuild? What is warranting the project?

Make sure to replace all vacuum lines and water hoses. There is a bypass hose in the back that's a PITA to get to. But if the engine is out replace it. Do your power valve screws.

If the budget allows. There are custom Cams and tuners out there for the 3.5 just are pricey.
