  1. ditch the chain saw...to much extra gas and oil...just get a good hand saw. way safer than an ax. I like the Silky katana boy. folds in half doesn't need gas, cuts like a mofo. ANY HAND SAW THAT CAN HANDLE WOOD A FOOT IN DIAMETER OR SO SHOULD BE GOOD ENOUGH. add a large bug net/ rain tarp and bug spray to keep you and your loved ones sane and dry , if biting bugs are an issue where you live. a shovel, Toilet Paper! a radio, flashlight. add Maxi pads to the first aid kit, very good sterile wound dressing and cheap. if you are heading to back country areas a hi lift jack and and a" wheel mate" accessory (allows you to lift the truck from the wheel) is a good investment. cards or a game to play for your passengers while waiting for help. Flashlight and extra batteries. jack stand. road flares. rubber boots, extra clothes (depends on the weather... wet or cold). gloves. blanket or extra sleeping bag. jump start battery like this one..https://www.amazon.com/dp/B016UG6PWE?ref_=ams_ad_dp_asin_3 it works great. tire pressure gauge. OBD 2 code reader. spare belts, hoses and hose clamps. muffler tape. JB weld. gorilla tape. Snack Food and water. just remember that PRIOR PLANNING PREVENTS PISS POOR PERFORMANCE.
  2. long term. also does it burn oil? is there any exhaust leaks?
  3. what do the fuel trims tell you in relation to the O2 sensors. A high Negative value means the ECU is cutting fuel so you might have a leaking injector...that was my problem. A high + positive value means an un metered air leak. use some brake keen or something to spray around the intake manifold while the engine is running., you'll know right away if there is a vacuum leak.
  4. P420 is catalist below threshold. could be the catalytic converter has failed the question is why. read this..... ttps://www.obd-codes.com/p0420
  5. On a very different note. have you checked the strut tower....there is a recall on that year were due to to rust the strut tower can collapse and interfere with the steering column. sometime in its life the truck should have gone back to NISSAN and gotten a reinforcement plate put in but if not and it is rusted through the truck is junk and NISSAN should buy it back from you or fix it. I would say that the Tuck is not safe to drive if you can't steer properly. be VERY CAREFUL. BTW: when I was a kid I lived way out on Ottawa St in Kitchener and went to Doon School. like 30 years ago.
  6. So the stft and the ltft are: Short Term Fuel Trim and Long Term Fuel Trim respectively and B1 and B2 are bank 1 and 2 meaning left and right side of the engine. The fuel trim numbers are the air fuel ratio that the ECU is making. + numbers mean more fuel to air and - numbers mean less fuel to air.. Ideally the air /fuel mix should be something like 14.7 to 1. on the scan tool closer to zero is best. Short term means every few seconds. Long term is over minutes or hours. that number shouldn't change very often though the STFT will change every second or so. If you have High + numbers like 20% or more could indicate a vacuum leak as more air is in the system for the ECU to mix in enough gas. High - numbers could mean a fuel leak. ( I had this twice with leaking injectors that killed my Cat) Cal % load...is how hard the engine is working in your case 54% fuel sys...CL means closed loop.. ETC is engine temperature in degree Celsius 84 is good that is operating temp. MAP kpa is air pressure into the engine in KILO Pascals. RPM is well RPM all of this looks pretty normal to me.... I'd be checking electrical issues related to missfire hope this helps
  7. always cool to see solutions posted...keep it up brother.
  8. wd22 (1st gen xterra) is body on frame.
  9. the one I found only covers the center of the bumper and has a plate that says NISSAN on it. it also has a "skid plate" that sits below the bumper line and kinda ties into the factory one.
  10. I found one on a wd21 at the JY this morning. question is will it fit my WD22? the factory skid plate looks the same. I'll be going back tomorrow to pick it up.
  11. I feel your pain brother. I just bought a first gen Xterrra because the Pathy had the cancer bad and the rest of the repairs were weighing me down. I plan on selling the Pathy for what I put into suspension upgrades. and turn the X into my new camping/ wheeling/ DD.
  12. No CEL. I'm the 3rd owner of this truck and it seemed to idle slower than my previous one. TPS is fine. I adjusted the idle at the IAC. is purring along just fine now. Thanks for the reply.
  13. the manual says it should idle at 750 rpm. is that when it is in park or in gear? when set @ 750 in park while in traffic it will idle down to 675 and sound rough. when I set the idle so that it is running 750 in gear, while in park it runs up to 812-820. no i have not read the FSM, it usually gives me more info than I can understand or not enough:)
  14. I think you are right brother. all the other forums are either empty hallways whistling in the wind or are filled with adds about products or "news" items I don't want or are interested in. this forum is a gem. I am proud to have been here this long. I've learned lots and maybe passed some of that knowledge on. I don't think I'll just walk away either. always willing to help a fellow Nissan nut in a rut.
  15. Is it just me or do all the other Nisan forums suck? My R50 is dead...long live the R50. I've replaced it with an 02 Xterra. can anyone recommend a forum as good as this one dedicated to the wd22 (first gen xterra)?
  16. never mind driving off road....even just on road is a challenge. Read this...https://www.usnews.com/news/the-report/articles/2016-03-15/ask-an-economist-is-americas-infrastructure-destined-to-crumble even here in Canada I broke a mounting eyelet off of a Bilstein 5150 shock last winter driving down a city street. talk about off road abuse...LOL. No Friggen Teslas gonna go down our crappy streets. HA! and I'd rather walk than let a robot drive me.
  17. I guess it is the WD22 after all. I wish Nissan still made a decent 4x4. what will we all drive in 10 years? the days of the true off road vehicle are gone. enjoy them while they last.
  18. looks like I just bought a 2002 Xterra se.....comes with steel skid plates! glade to know the legos and hub will fit..that was a worry. hubs are one of the single best investments that I've added to keep fuel economy reasonable. the tires on the other hand had the reverse effect. I'll be picking it up tomorrow. I'll post a list of things that are similar as I try and swap things over. I'm thinking the Transfer Case Skid plate should bolt up fine. I feel a little dirty going over to the Dark side. the Pathy has treated me well and has been very reliable. 66000 km in the last 5 years. If I could have found another one not full of cancer I would have jumped on a 2004 in a heart beat. but I live in the Rust belt.
  19. I might be joining the Dark Side....Eugene is causing me more and more greef and I don't even want to talk about the rust...what the chances that some of my upgrades might fit an X? things like manual hubs, lego wheels, skid plates that sort of stufff?
  20. so it took a while to figure out but I was able to read all 4 O2 Sensors in real time. they are all over the map jumping from .oo7 to .100 and everything in between on both banks both pre and post cat. any ideas?
  21. Earlier this spring I had issues with a p005 miss fire cylinder 5 code. turned out to be a bad injector. got one from a JY replaced it and all is good....Until a couple of days ago when I had trouble starting when the engine was warm. I've been watching fuel trim with my Ultra Gauge and I've noticed something strange. Long term Bank 1 and 2 seem to be in the -6 to -10 range but Short term Bank 1 and 2 are measuring +3 to -10 while I'm driving (engine under load) however when I'm idling at a stop light or in traffic Bank 1 Short Term will register -25 but Bank 2 is in much closer to 0. My guess is a leaking injector...or am i out to lunch could it be a faulty O2 sensor? no codes are showing. thanks guys
  22. be glade you don't live in Canada. the online parts stores want over $100 each for them, I got mine from the Junkyard. https://www.autopartsway.ca/partdetails.cfm?w0133-1614754/hit/nissan/2000/pathfinder/se/3.3l-v6/allb/air-and-fuel-delivery/fuel-injection-system-and-related-components/fuel-injector/pagenum1/tabs
  23. Eugene sent me a code today...P0500 and the O/D light was flashing. speedometer was working fine, though the speedometer on my ULTRA GAUGE was not. I wonder if this has anything to do with my Cruz control cutting out? anyway trying to find one On Line, every retailer shows me photos of ABS wheel speed sensor not Transmission VSS, anybody know the Nissan Part #? haven't taken it out yet to check continuity. If I can't find one On Line I'll have to take my chances at the JY. are these the same for the 3.3 and 3.5 engines? thanks guys
