  1. I had a friend with a full shop install my coils , he said the fronts are tough . They're going to completely change your ride and handling , stiff and little if any body roll . I like it .
  2. I imagine it should , in that pic the struts and shocks were new also . GR2's and Bilsteins .
  3. The AC coils front and rear plus a 1" spacer in the front should make it sit level .
  4. From the outside , behind the coil/strut assembly , down low . No need to open the hood . Looks can be deceiving , if you brought it in for the recall check they'd be poking it with a screwdriver or the like . Drivers side is usually the bigger issue .
  5. Yes . Search it here there is a lot of info . If it has issues there I'd pass , otherwise I'd probably jump on it .
  6. If it has rust you'll want to check the strut towers .
  7. The "backyard" guy (has a lift , etc...) who did my AC kit + front spacers , did mine along with both valve cover gaskets , new exhaust , new rotors , calipers , bearings , replaced the rear tire carrier latch and wire actuator , installed manual hubs , probably a couple other small items I'm forgetting... you get the picture.... . I dropped it off mid morning one day and picked it up the next morning . As hawairish said , the lift is just replacing parts with "other" parts .
  8. Some jolly joker stickered my spare... That's OK though , he sells topsoil and I stole some when I left...
  9. Can't figure out how to show Youtube , click here...
  10. I've moderated a forum for years , often enough a message gets mistaken as sarcastic or antagonistic when it is only meant to be a succinct clarification . Clarification of a mistaken interpretation keeps a subject on track for others interested in the topic at hand , lessening confusion .
  11. Nothing too special , went looking for some pre-spawn Crappie and/or some mud . Didn't find much of either but the last few days of rain should fix both...
  12. FWIW my '96 came with 15" wheels , I changed out my calipers with new Cardone's from Rockauto and had no problems fitting Pro Comp steel wheels over the new calipers .
  13. I had 31"s on stock suspension , now 32"s with 2" coils all around and a 1" spacer in front . I'm thinking 2" lift all around for 32"s , spacers or coils . I used these wheels... http://www.4wheelparts.com/Wheels/Rock-Crawler-Series-97-15x8-with-6-on-5-5-Bolt-Pattern-Black.aspx?t_c=11&t_s=209&t_pt=100021&t_pn=PCW97-5884
  14. My question would be... Why ? My answer would be... It's possible , don't they call this "hella flush" or something similar ? My opinion would be... Don't do it .
  15. I'd bet it's a CV issue , does it feel like it's coming from both wheels or just one ? Mine does it on the drivers side , it's something that elicits an immediate "holy crappola , WTF was that !" the first time you feel it and it doesn't feel like any front end type of problem you've felt before . It will make you get off the gas QUICK.... When I did my lift I put in new CV's (Cardone IIRC) brake rotors , calipers pads , tie rod ends , wheel bearings , and MM hubs . My mechanic said the rest of the front end was pretty solid . When I tested 4wd on a gravel road I had noise coming from the passenger CV at low speed . I replaced that side with a NAPA brand CV and the noise went away . All was well , or so I thought... First time I "got on it" on a snowy road I felt what I think you did from the drivers side , still a Cardone unit . Last winter was a mild one and I didn't need 4wd much so I let it slide . Through a few mudholes during spring/summer I thought I'd feel it but didn't , even when on the gas pretty hard . Come this winter I still feel it at 30+ , a little milder probably due to the springs settling a bit but it's still there . It seems worse when there isn't a lot of snow , the deeper the snow the less I feel it . I've had my hubs locked all winter and the past few times I've done a tight slow speed left hander into a parking spot I hear what sounds like the CV chattering . In 2wd with Pro Comp steel wheels and 32" STT's I have a little wobble at about 45 , but I can still take both hands off the wheel and it goes straight as an arrow . I read lots of CV threads here before I did my lift and it seems they are somewhat of a crapshoot . Someone said they had luck with O'Reilly's brand , I got (1) good one at NAPA so I'll be trying another and hoping for the best .
  16. I got a cat back exhaust from them for something like $210.00 shipped . On my doorstep about 4 days after paying , 16 months in and it's fine .
  17. I'd see if Steve has a 1/2" front spacer to go with the AC coils . I have a 1" AC spacer with AC coils and after about 12,000 miles my front end seems a hair higher than the rear . There may be a small rake at first but once things settle I think it would be just right . Plus the CV aspect , that 1/2" could make a difference believe it or not . We're pushing it at 3" in the front , and different brands of CV axles seem to have different tolerances .
  18. I'm 5'11" , and without measuring I'd say the roof rails on mine with 32's is real close to 6'3" . It will be a squeeker but I'm thinking you'll make it .
  19. When you run the defroster , I always thought it worked along with the AC system so that dry air would hit the windshield ?
  20. My cracked MAF was similar to what your truck is doing , if I came to a stop it would stall if I didn't keep my feet on the gas and the brake while stopped . My mechanic found a hairline crack in the MAF "housing" (for lack of the correct term) , being a friend he tried to save me some $$$ and put some "goop" on the crack . He drove it around picking up parts , lunch , etc... and it was fine for a while before the stalling came back , the "goop" had separated after drying completely . New MAF and it never did it again . May or may not be the problem you're having , but checking for cracks is free.... My distributor went boots up a few years back but never gave me stalling problems , it bucked a few times and then just crapped out . I can't comment on the relationship between the timing belt and distributor positions though . Fuel filters are cheap , I'd change it and see what happens as it's due anyway .
  21. Mine had a similar problem years ago , IIRC it was a hairline crack in the MAF sensor .
  22. Doggie has such a serious look on his face.... Looks like a real brute any full body pics of doggie ? A mechanic friend used to have a 150 lb Rott who hated the Mailman for some reason , one day he looked at the clock and said "Oh $%#@ !" . He called the dog and had him jump in the covered bed of a Hardbody 4x4 and locked him up inside . I asked what was going on and he said "watch what happens when the Mailman comes in" . The dog went berserk , going round and round making those Rottie sounds that make people pee themselves . That truck was going up , down , and sideways at the same time.... Aside from the Mailman , he was a good boy . Loved those orange cheese crackers and hot dogs , I'd grab his muzzle and blow air in his nose and he'd act like a puppy . The Mailman just flipped him the bird....
  23. Predicted -3f tonight , last week it was 55... Finally gonna have some ice to fish on !
